After reading this board I am wary of decks 1 and 2 (cat 9), but DH really wants a porthole-also we will have our two kids with us, so we want all the space we can get....so I am wondering if anyone has any comments on cat. 8 rooms on deck 6 or 7? Thanks-

We have cruised twice in a cat 9 on deck two. I love Deck 2. It is so easy to take the stairs to the atrium and other places. We only take the elevators (which get VERY busy) to the pool areas.

We cruised on deck 7 once too and it didn't make a difference.

As for motion sickness, I take bonine and it really helps. I did not notice a difference in the lower decks.

I have stayed in a Cat 9 on Deck 2 and would do it again in a heartbeat. I do have a Cat 8 on Deck 7 for a 4 night in August for my family. I only did the Cat 8 because I wanted a higher deck on this cruise to try it out.

You won't be disappointed in a Category 9 on Deck 2, but if you would rather be on a higher deck, go for the 8.

Thanks for the tip on the motion sickness. I was concerned about that as the cat 8 is so far forward. I guess all of the threads about sewage smell and noise on deck 2 really put me off..

If you are not going for the verandah, I say go for the cat. 8

I was real concerned going from deck 2 to deck 7. But I must tell you, I did not feel any more motion on deck 7. It is much quieter on deck 7. I didn't realize it till I went to bed at night.

We had a Cat. 8 Deck 5 and it was great! It was cabin 5018 and it was forward on the Port Side! It is located on a very short hallway convenient to stairs and elevators. The kids clubs are also right around the corner as well the the Atrium! Great location!

Thanks....we are first timers, so I think for peace of mind we are going with the cat 8 as DD is a light sleeper. Your advice has been helpful!:D

Hi I have stayed in Cat 8 on Deck 6 its a great deck with kids becuae the clubs are on that deck. The service was great and it wasnt too far from anything!

The secret porthole rooms are a good alternative to an 8 if they are available, as you get a "free" porthole (they are sold as Category 10) and they are on Deck 5. I have pics. on my website at www.castawayclub.com
They have the pull-down beds so you would all fit. Only thing is, they book up fast!
