I'm not particularly interested in cooking or cleaning, and I don't particularly like to entertain.

I do cook and I do clean and I do entertain, but honestly, in the ideal world ;),
I would just rather go out.

Is it just me or are there other women who would rather see a movie, go out to eat, go to the beach, hit a club for some live blues, rock, or bluegrass, drive down to Disney, read a book?? :hippie:

I love to cook but that's it. I don't really clean and we don't entertain. Thankfully my husband does pretty much all the cleaning.

Like you sometimes I'd rather go out for dinner though. It's nice to be waited on.

Live music is awesome! I'm right there with ya!

I'd rather play on the DIS in the evenings.

ME! ME! MEEEEEEEE!

My kitchen is something that comes with the house
I don't throw parties, not becasue I don't like to socialize or hang with friends, but I DO NOT get the whole "make the house immaculate" BEFORE a party when it gets trashed within the first 1/2 hour:confused3
I hate stressing out and I admit, I get crabby with the family ordering them around to get things ready for people who are not really gonna care, they will "compare", not care
I love going out and having a change of scenery,
LIVE music always, do not care for DJ's etc. That was the ONE hting I requested for our wedding, a live horn band...it's entertainment at a wedding, not a ride in an elevator.
I'm an ADG....Anti-Domestic-Goddess/ God...somehow I think the world will keep spinning!

Ditto!!! I hate cleaning so much, I hire someone to come in and do it for me

Me!

It was my turn to cook tonight. I call everyone down to dinner, DH comes over and asks where the sauce is? I'd made the pasta, the vegetables, the bread, but had totally forgotten the sauce. There's a reason DH does most of the cooking. :rotfl:

I hate to clean, don't like to entertain/go out to party (in fact we're skipping a party tonight) and I'd rather spend the evening with my family or a good book. Guess I'm an anti-social anti-domestic goddess. :thumbsup2

I hate cleaning, too! I do like cooking, but only if I'm able to play around with a new recipe. And mostly I just like baking. I'd rathar go out anyday. :)

I'm very anti-social. Funny how I love live music and WDW but hate crowds. :confused3

Honestly, I only know one woman who IS a domestic goddess. The rest are normal

I'm certainly not a domestic goddess, and I've been a SAHM for almost 10 years. For some reason, a lot of people feel SAHM should also be very domestic. I do the cleaning, and I do the cooking, but I'm not really good at either and I don't really enjoy doing either one of them and would prefer to go out to eat.

I'm not huge into entertaining, mainly because I don't cook and clean well. I'm more of a go out to eat and movie type of girl, spend the evening home with family or get together with close friends. I'm not ani-social, but I'm also not a social butterfly.

DH's mom was always a SAHM, and she swears she's never cleaned a house in her life :thumbsup2 (although she does love to cook).

I do agree there is a stereotype of SAHMs as "housewives", as if cooking and cleaning are what make a great mom and wife.

Definitely not me.

We moved in three weeks ago and half of our belongings are still in boxes (to give myself some credit I had a c-section 10 days ago and so 4 of the days I was in the hospital and the others since I've not been too mobile..) BUT... I do have to dig through boxes in the living room to find stuff to make for dinner. If I want to shower, those boxes are in the kitchen and most of my clothes are in the guest bedroom.

I'm going to be so confused whenever I get things put away...

The older I get the less domestic I become. I've stopped stressing like I used to about the house being messy. Life is too short, and I really don't care what anyone thinks my house looks like and what I do with my "spare" time. They don't have to come to my house if it's too messy for them! I prepare a homecooked meal & 2 snacks for 60 preschoolers everyday year round for 14 years and I keep the kitchen immaculate because I love to keep my high health dept scores :thumbsup2. so I absolutely hate to hear those three little words come from my DH every evening...What's for dinner? I usually say something like, "what did you plan to prepare, or I thought you were taking me out tonight ;) I have plenty of good domestic skills, but use them only when I have to :lmao:

I am FAAARRRR from a domestic godess.

Of course I do the laundry, wash the dishes, sweep up but other than that I have a cleaning woman come in. When my bf and I lived in our apartment I did everything myself but when we moved into the house we got a cleaning woman. I actually don't tell most people about her because the people who do know always make comments about how it must be nice to have money, am I really too busy to clean myself, etc. And honestly I am NOT to busy to clean myself but I do work fulltime and go to school so not having to worry about something that I do a crappy job at anyway is kind of nice.

And yes there is something that I do worse than cleaning and that is COOKING!! I am a terrible cook, I hate thinking about what to make for dinner, I inevitably am missing an ingredient, then the actual making the food, cleaning up afterward. The fact that I have to do it for the rest of my life is actually a little depressing!!! :rotfl2: I have always said that if I win the lotto the first purchase is a cook!!!

But thank you for starting this thread because I sometimes feel like the only one, and I do have friends and family that make snide remarks and jokes at the expense of my lack of cleaning and cooking skills but owell.

While I enjoy cooking, I hate the dinner every night deal. Its not fun to try to work around everyone's schedule and likes. I only like fun cooking!

I also hate to clean and entertain, but unfortunately I have to do both. Some how I have been tagged official family hostess even though we only have 1 bathroom and live in the smallest house! Not sure how that happened.

I am trying to get the kids on board with cleaning the house during summer vacation. They are home during most days while I am at work so I am leaving a list. DD is pretty good about it, but DS isn't.

Me.I am a SAHM with no domestic skills or motivation whatsoever. i call myself the anti wife. I heat up dinner from what ever box or package I know how to make it from. It's gourmet night if we have a stouffers lasagne or grilled cheese sandwhiches. As far as the cleaning goes it doesn't really bother me often if it is a mess. For years i had a housekeeper so i knew things would stay sanitary. Now my husband cleans the bathrooms, my mom cleans the kitchen and the kids either straighten up or don't. if any of these things dont happen in a timely manner i don't notice. Every once in awhile i will get on an organizing kick and go through stuff and get rid of some stuff.

i do like to entertain though but just casually. My mom does most of the cooking if not all of it, i play bartender and we have friends and kids over to laugh and have a good time!

I don't mind cleaning. Hate cooking. Don't mind entertaining in general, but it is a lot of work. Several years back we had a 40th b'day party for DH's best friend which his wife had catered (she wanted to surprise him so asked to use our house under the guise that we were going to meet here and then the 4 of go out to dinner). It was a cocktail party with "heavy" hors d'ouervres. They had a bartender and a 2nd server/clean-up guy.

Let me tell you, that is the way to throw a party! Fabulous!!!! When the party was over, my house looked better than it did when it started. Those two guys did everything! And truthfully, it wasn't terribly expensive, according to the wife.

Domestic only occasionally.
My daughter just graduated from College. Her boyfriend is coming up Wednesday for abour a week :scared1:. I've got to whip this place into shape. It's not terrible, but it needs love.

I last painted the living room 5 or 6 years ago, so we just repainted and I did need a new couch so I bought 2 new beautiful love seats. She painted her bedroom that she shares with her sister. We replaced the carpet in that room. Now I need to repaint the hall upstairs. UHG I REALLY HATE PAINTING!

My youngest is a Disney PACKRAT! We finally convinced her to put things in storage boxes and had to reassure her they would not go into the trash.
Were getting there, but oh man the stuff you can collect in a house in 22 years.

I enjoy cooking most of the time. It does get to be a drag every night though. Both DH and I are trying to change our eating habits, so it's easier to eat healthier if we eat at home. Cleaning however...it's the pits. I finally started having someone do it, and it's fantastic! Entertaining really stresses me out. I get into this "everything has to be perfect" mode, and I turn into a complete _itch. I also hate decorating and gardening. I hate being hot, sweaty, dirty and mosquito bitten....whah! I would much rather my son remember what a fun childhood he had and how loved he was, rather than how clean and perfect the house was. I guess this comes from my childhood. My mother, bless her, was the original Martha Stewart. I kind of wish we had taken more picnics! Poor thing, so much pressure on herself.

I do enjoy cooking and really love baking (also eating what I've baked, and it shows!). I've never been much for cleaning though, and when my kids were small it just seemed so pointless. I'm actually a bit more domestic now that they are grown and my cleaning efforts (such as they are) actually last more than five minutes...
