We went to Disney for the first time during the holidays last year and we froze to death the entire time. Even during the day, it was chilly! We are going back Nov 30-Dec 10 and my husband swears he is taking his ski suit! That ought to be a sight to see! We are from the coast of North Carolina and we have some cold weather, but I guess we expected it to be better in Florida. Hopefully it was just a strange year for weather and this year will be better.

I was there right after Thanksgiving last year, Sunday - Friday last year and was fine during the day. I had on tank top and shorts. I do believe on our MVMCP night that it was chilly and I wore jeans and a fleece. I could have easily had some knit gloves and was happy about the hot cocoa.

Yes! It was very cold during our long weekend at WDW in December 2003. I wore jeans and a sweatshirt at MVMCP and I could've used a few more layers during the late parade. Also, our last day, the whole day was cold...I wore a sweatshirt all day. And, I was pregnant, so I thought for sure I'd get warm faster!:D

I try to tell anyone who is going during Dec. to be prepared for any kind of weather! I have been going to the MVMCP for about 15 years and I can honestly say that I HAVE worn my ski jacket to several of them! No joking aside. Dec. is a strange month down here, and just because it says 60 it can feel like 30, I think because it is so damp here. But the next day it can be swimsuit weather! The night I went last year it was beautiful but from of the previous posters I can see that they had the cold weather that I have had in past years. In 2002 I needed mittens! It kinda gets you into the spirit but it's not great if you are not prepared, so if you plan to visit during Dec and most of Jan keep checking the weather channel site to stay up on what is expected down here.......it will make your trip alot more enjoyable.

keiki, binky&mouse my 3 beautiful white kitties!

We were there Dec 6 to 12 last year. The day we got there the high was only in the 50's! We went to MK for Wishes, it was soooo cold! I was glad I wore a flannel lined jacket and brought gloves. Good part was I think it kept the crowds down. That was Saturday night. We went to MVMCP on Tuesday night and it wasn't bad, I think that day was in the 70's.

I've gone around this time the past 6 years and it has been a wide variety. 1998, 1999 and 2001 were perfect, most days were in the high 70's/low 80's. Nights were a little nippy but not bad. 2000 was cold, most days in the low 60's and cold at night. 2002 & 2003 were a mixed bag, some warm days, some cold. 2002 was the only time we had significant rain (2 all day rains).

We did MVMCP in Dec. 1998 and FROZE too!!! The first day we were there we wore shorts and tank tops by 2nd night it was 40 degrees!!! Talk about drastic change!!! We had to go buy gloves, scarves, etc!!! :charac2:

I was only there for 1 day in dec (i think the 6th) for MVMCP and I was overly preparded lol. I had alot of layers and I had heard that it can be freezing lol at night. I was sweating after being there for like 10 min. So I walked around the park all night with 2 sweaters tied around my waste. I thought it was pretty funny..... I had gloves and all. We didn't need them and we even went on splash mountain. Florida weather in dec is very strange and can go from one extremem to another very quickly so make sure to be ready for anything.

I was at WDW the same week last year (12/6-12/12) and although I didn't do MVMCP, I know several people who did on Thursday, 12/11, and it was COLD! I was going to see Illuminations that night and gave up and went back to my room at BCV and watched from there, it was so cold!

Last year we went on the 5th. It was cold, but IMHO not freezing ( but then again, I'm from MA) It was low 50's to high 40's. We wore sweatshirts and light coats.

If you are not from an area where it snows for winter, you could have been very cold that night.

Gloves would have been nice for the parade. My advice is to plan for everything as you can get every kind of weather that time of year at thw World.

I've been doing early December trips to WDW for over 10 years. The temp's have ranged from shorts/t-shirt to winter jackets -- all within 3 days. So, if you bring shorts, t-shirt/polo shirt, long pants, sweatshirt and windbreaker, some combination thereof will keep you comfortable during a December visit.

we are from the texas gulf coast area and the evening we attended, i thought it was quite chilly. i wore jeans, hiking boots, a sweatshirt and had a light jacket. remember we are from texas!!

We went to MVMCP on Dec 4th and the weather wasn't too bad. But by the time Saturday came (the day they were filming the Christmas parade), it was quite chilly on our way to MK. There a lot of people in shorts shirts and pants shivering. I think many believe Florida never gets cold and don't bring warm clothing.

It's so funny you started this thread because we went to the MVMCP on 12/18/03 and couldn't believe how cold it was! I had my two year old in a turtleneck, sweatshirt and light jacket and I still wasn't sure he was warm enough.

Even though we are from PA, we've never been to Florida when it's been THAT cold.

I must say though that it kind of put us in an even more festive mood for the holidays :D - it is one of my best memories of my 19 trips to the World.

Yup! We were cold all week, except the random day it was 80º. And actually I think that was our MVMCP day - by evening it was cold again! Hot chocolate was a Godsend.

We were in Disney for Christmas Dec. 2002 in the beginning of the month and it was cold...I wore 2 sweatshirts at night and one during the day...I ski and am use to the cold too....I had to go swimming with the kids and good thing it was heated. Sure was cold getting out...But we had a Great time and are doing it again this year.Sooooo Excited...:bounce: :Pinkbounc :jumping3: :jumping2: :jumping4:

that is exactly when we were there on the 11th and like I said it was very uncomfortable. I was probably the one that complained the least in our family, but my daughter said it was because I was so excited and had an adrenaline rush that kept me warmer! I'm the Disney nut in the bunch!

We went to the Candlelight Processional that night and were cold also. I think it was only in the 60's that day. There was discussion on this board before that trip about the appropriate clothes to take. I suggested jeans for evening, some only planned on bringing capri's. I was wondering how they felt that night...

It's weird in December is WDW. We were there last year the first full week in Dec, and there were some cold nights. Lows around 40, maybe in the upper 30's. I just put on a fleece jacket and some light stretchy fleece gloves I had-and I was glad I had gloves! However, we were there in Dec 2001 and It was warm ~80 for highs all week and fairly humid. Brought pants and never wore them! Understand, the averages are highs in the low 70's and lows in the low 50's. Lovely weather by my northen standards, but many would still want a jacket at night. Go to the weather channel page for Orlando and check out the averages, especially the records for the times your going. The averages are wonderful, the but the potential range of temps goes from very hot to burrrrrr. Watch the long term forecasts before you go, and pack layers. The low was 40 the first night there last year, but it beats the heck out of the foot of snow we left that morning. I'll deal for that trade.

We'll be going in early December this year, and I do plan on bringing hats and gloves and dressing in layers... I figure you can always take a layer off!
