Anybody else didn't make it to WDW today?

I'm so bummed out. Delta called this morning a half hour before I was to leave for the airport and cancelled the flight. The best they could do was a flight on Monday.

Who else got cancelled, and when will you be getting there?

I'm sorry I sound so ungrateful, after all the hell the Floridians have gone through. My son lives in Orlando, lucky guy, and I sure do worry about him. We were going to spend tonight together at his condo until Jeanne blows over. He didn't want me alone at CBR during the storm.

I can understand your dissappointment but we just got back today and our friends are still there and just called- they were told (at CR) that they will need to stay in their rooms tonight and that they were sending alot of their employees home and closing their restaurants so they are in the process of stocking up their food.

Our flight home was suppose to be tonight but we were able to move it to this morning.

I hope you will be able to reschedule everything on Monday and have a great trip!

You don't sound ungrateful. You were looking forward to an exciting vacation you've probably planned for some time now, totally understandable! Hopefully you'll be able to reschedule and see your son while you're there.

Hopefully many people who have made plans to go to WDW from Aug to Oct now will realize that this is a very "iffy" time weatherwise and you always have to be prepared with a back up plan. Even when we're not getting bombarded with record numbers of hurricanes we still get many tropical systems during this time which can make for some really nasty weather conditions.

But, this season takes the cake...we'll be telling our grandchildren about this hurricane season. Hopefully this will be the last we have to deal with for at least another ...50 YRS!! Wishful thinking

Thanks jwfla422 for your kind reply. I usually go down in May, and for future trips, I will definately rethink this time of the year.

Everyone wishes the best for all of the Floridians. Tough year for them and a lot of prayers being sent there way. I know that people spend years planning the perfect Disney trip and it is heartbreaking when anything interupts it. I hope that everything works out for you.

We were going to drive down yesterday after work, but didn't like the way things were shaping up.

So we called SoG and cancelled. Later last night we found out that every room at WDW for tonight is booked.

We did get offered extra nights if we did come down and get stuck there due to the weather. We decided that our bosses wouldn't be too thrilled with us for knowingly heading into a potential danger area and getting delayed coming back due to evacuations.

Oh well........

We cancelled out.. we needed to be home on Sunday and knew that wasn't going to happen... Figured someone needing to flee the storm might need the room. We were able to book a flight for November. Hopefully we'll be able to book a room! I really feel bad for all the Floridians...can't imagine what they've been through this Sept. Let's hope this is the last storm.....

Yeah.. we were suppose to leave on our honeymoon this afternoon, but 1 hour before we had to get to the airport we decided to make some changes.

After 2 hours on the phone with CRO, we have everything changed and re-scheduled for us to arrive on monday late afternoon.

There are some plus' for us arriving later (get to enjoy one day of the Food & Wine Fest!!! and don't have to worry about the hurrican now), but I'm still disappointed because our 6 day honeymoon is now only a 5 night honeymoon and we are having to cancel some of our plans... and had to change resorts because the BWI didn't have anything available for our arrivale date.

Well.. we learned a very important lesson this year... we will NEVER ever plan a trip during hurricane season.. lol..
