Anybody don't like alcohol?

In general, I don't like the taste of alcohol. Very rarely I'll want a glass of red wine or a hot coffee drink with alcohol - maybe once or twice a year. However, generally if I am going to have a drink somewhere, I'd rather not ruin it with the taste of alcohol.

Occasionally I've shared a social drink with friends and they'll all be say how good it is, while I'm wondering how they managed to make a drink taste exactly like a dentist's office.

I rarely drink ANYTHING that isn't water. I just prefer water.

I've never cared for the taste of anything with alcohol in it. I found over the years that I could have just as much fun as my friends who drank and I at least would remember what happened the next day when sometimes they couldn't.

I've had a few sips of wine, never tasted beer. It smells nasty! We didn't have alcohol in our home growing up. Just never had the desire to try it.

I LOVE White Russians. Lucky for me, Kahlua is expensive and that keeps me from buying the stuff.

Other than that, it's a mood thing for me. I enjoy a fruity drink in a resort bar, a beer at a dance hall, wine with a good dinner and so on. I very rarely just have a drink just to drink. There is a bottle of Canadian whiskey in the cabinet for those rare moments though.

I don't drink alcohol, though I have in the past (HS and college), not even the fruity ones. I just don't have the desire; don't like the taste or the after effects. I am very slow to metabolize alcohol; I seem to feel the effects for a good long time after. I will toast with champagne at a wedding or take a sip of wine at a function. I do cook with wine on occasion (and since I don't cook in general, times I would make a dish requiring such happens about once a year). I have on occasion been known to say "I need to have a nice big drink" or "I can't stand it anymore, I just need to go get drunk" but I know what can happen (to me) when you drink to relieve stress. I have no problem with others drinking around me, my choices are my own and I don't push my opinions on other people.

No drinking alcohol here. A personal choice,we have a couple of alcoholics in the family and I wont take the chance.Never miss it.

I never ever had a single alcoholic drink in my life. I have smelled beer and wine, and ugh!!! If they taste anything like they smell .......! I never sought the opportunity to drink, and never cared to. Never interested me at all.

Funny thing is, my town is quite known for having teenagers who love to party and get drunk on a regular basis, and brag about it. These high school kids are wealthy and they know it, and think they can do anything. And what's worse is that often at night, I seen many of these teens speeding around their brand new parent-bought SUV's while drunk. Pathethic. :(

So I grew up in a town like that and never once drank - I am sure I am the only one!

I don't drink much at all, but there are many culinary uses for alcohol that would be hard to give up. Most sauces use red or white wine as a base. Also many desserts benefit from liqour. In culinary school I remember my classmate made these chambord filled chocolate candies - absolutely delicious. You pop these tiny chocolates into your mouth and then bite down and the raspberry, sugary liquid bursts in your mouth. NOW THATS YUMMY!!! :earseek:

DH and I are both non drinkers. We don't like the smell or taste of it. I do like mixed drinks, the furity kind, but I get them virgin.

I like the fact that I feel we are setting a good example for our children and nieces and nephews.

Many people can drink and not have it negitivly affect their lives. (however I am willing to bet the know someone who it has a negitive affect on them.) Not drinking never hurt anyone. (Belive me I can be silly, relax and kick back with out it.) :goodvibes

HugsForEeyore, I think most people who don't drink often feel like the only one. This thread is proof you aren't. :flower:

I think I got over drinking alcohol during those strange 'finding myself' years just after college--I was legal, going out with my friends to bars all the time, and it just lost it's allure. I just don't have the taste for it anymore, but will order virgin Foo-Foos. Mmmmmmmm.....Mango Tangos! :hyper:

I'm glad I'm not the only one not drinking. My dh and I do not drink at all. I can't stand the smell and figure that if something smells that bad I would be really stupid to drink it. I have been to many places where they serve alcohol but it is really cheap for me for the night because I drink ice tea. I do love the fruity drinks but I drink them virgin. I found out that you could get them virgin on a cruise 6 years ago. The others were drinking and I mentioned that they looked good but.... Boy did I drink a lot of virgin drinks that cruise. LOL I now make up some of those drinks for the family

Well I don't like it at all right now. After throwing up half the night at a party, i'm all done with drinking for a few weeks!!

You know what does bug me? When you go out to dinner with a group of friends and they all drink (a lot) and at the end of the night they want to spilt the bill evenly. Hello, that would be 30 or 40$ more then the food I just ate. Last time this happened we refused and just paid for the food we ate and a big tip.

DH and joke that we can afford to go to WDW 1 to 3 times a year because we don't drink or smoke. It adds up. :flower:

Nope, don't drink at all! Seems to shock the mess out of people. I think I've tasted 2 drinks in my 31 years. Tasted as in sips, nothing more. Never has interested me, and I don't think it ever will

I grew up in an alcoholic family. Never drank, can't be around anyone doing it, brings back very bad memories.

I'll be 50 on my next birthday and have spent a lifetime listening and dealing with people who laugh and kid about something that totally devastates me. It's not easy but I've dealt with it for a loooooong time.

:cheer2: To you for living your life alchol free and not continuing the cycle.

Haven't touched the stuff since I got married. I thinks its a good example to set for the ds that you don't need alcohol to have a good time etc. It also helps when they see all those roadside memorials around here etc. Also when I was growing up my next door neighbors mom was an alcoholic, she wasnt watching her kids one day and one put a boy scout knife in his eye and now has a fake one and another one she wasnt watching and he fell down a flight of stairs in his walker and now has epilepsy, cant drive etc. I share those stories with the ds since they've met my old neighbors etc. Its kind of funny since my cousins ex worked for one of the brewing companys and his job was to order all the ingredients to make the beer.

DH & I don't drink either. Its nice to see others out there that don't feel the need to have alcohol. My issue is when I'm out at a work party people look down on you because you aren't drinking with them. Kind of snub you off. I always feel like the oddball at the table. Even when I order a virgin drink, I can tell they look at me strange. Oh well, it's my life and choice. I use to drink occasionally during my early 20's, but don't have a desire anymore. I personally love the virgin fruity drinks. They taste better than the ones with alcohol.

My DH does not drink at all. I like a drink every now and then...like at a wedding, or if we two are out together.
I really don't like beer anymore, prefer fruity drinks like Pina Coladas.

Really my drink of choice...Dr. Pepper!
