Anybody color thier slip??

many many girls on here have colored their crinnie's. KeenerCam is the most recent that I can think of. They all used rit dye (I think except for some UK brides) and had great results. KeenerCam's journal has instructions as does Caryn's. (Caryndisneydiva)

Wow! What a great idea, looks really lovely and extra princessey!! :)

Thanks! I'll have to check out their pj's! I'm just afraid of ruining my slip, or even worse... my washer!!!!!

I did and it was awesome. I was afraid of ruining my washer too but I just ran it once after with bleach and it was fine. I wanted mine bright pink too but it turned out more subtle than I wanted. Oh well. I think it's cute though. Here's a peek:

I did as well, used 3 boxes of dye to be on the safe side since I wanted it hot pink, however it did not end up hot pink but like a bright light pink. Its perfect though, and I think it turned out great.

I was thinking about doing this but a pale yellow color. I found crinnies on eBay for $20. You can experiment with it - Hey! If it turns out good, maybe you'll even use it. :woohoo:

OMG I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! You have pink shoes tooooooooo!!! I want pink shoes!! I'm definately doing it!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Just run an empty cycle with bleach in your washer when you are done, you won't ruin it.

I did mine in a 'cinderella' blue:

I am really happy with the soft pink (the lace trim is a bit darker) that I did mine (it is called rose pink) and I think it will look really sweet under my gown, especially with my bling-y silver shoes:

I just purchased the same crinnie off ebay that Cam has and hopefully it will be delivered this week and I want to dye it ASAP because I have my fitting with my girls on Saturday. I want to dye it red. At the moment I have white shoes but am considering red ones. A friends just lent me her crinnie this morning and I will not dye that one but I might wear the white one for the ceremony and then put the red one on for the reception. I need to see if the red one shows throught the dress. I also might just wear the red one for the dessert party. It all depends on how it comes out but I just love the look of it.

I never thought of wearing pink shoes until I saw twiu's pic with the pink shoes! Now I definately know I want pink shoes!!!!!!

Ok, everyone who's done it, how did you pick the color? Did you have to mix colors or do they make a bunch of different colors to pick from? Where do you buy the dye at?? Can I find it in a craft store like Michaels?

I love this idea! I have heard a few people dying their slips but this is the first place I've actually seen one with a dress! They look so nice! I wish I could do it but b/c of the style of my dress, I don't need a big slip. Maybe I can dye the small one layer slip I'm getting? Although, I just don't think it'd be the same!

I have never heard of that it looks so awesome. I would like to try it but I'm to afraid to:scared:. My dress has light pink flowers on it, so a light pink slip would go great with it, and I bought a pair of "glass slippers" not really but close enough for me.

You could always get an inexpensive one off ebay and try it. I think the one I purchased was $25.00 including shipping. This way if I mess it up it is not much money lost.

I asked my daughter about doing this with hers and she was all for it. We called the Alfred Angelo Shop that we got her dress at to ask about the crinny she would need and they told us a #109. I could not believe while I was on E-bay I found an auction for that EXACT crinny it was $15.00 for the crinny and $10.00 shipping.....:cool1: I mailed the Money Order on Sunday now just waiting for it to arrive and the dying process to begin!!!!!!

I first filled the washer with the hottest water I could and then I wet the Crinnie and it didn't fall apart so that was a good sign. I took it out of the water and put it to the side. Then I mixed the three boxes of Fuchisa Dye in a big measuring cup and added it to the wash. I turned it on to mix up some and then I added the Crinnie back in. I let it wash through two cycles (I untwisted it in the middle of the two cycles). Then I washed it with detergant two times...I wanted to make sure the dye was all out. I then untwisted it again and hung it to dry in the basement

Now onto the pictures............
