Who has been to the AKL recently and booked a handicapped accessible room with roll in shower in it? If I look at some of the (older) reports on the DIS and the pics on allearsnet.com it looks like those rooms got a king bed and a pull out or day bed.

We're with 3 adults, and don't mind sharing a room. However, all three of us got healthproblems and a pull out or day bed would mean one of us having a hell of a night and more pain the next day. Not worth it, ofcourse!

However, when talking to both disney CRO and Special Reservations, both claim that all of the rooms with roll in shower actually come with 2 queen beds. That would be :thumbsup2 , but it makes me wonder; has it changed recently, or is the info of CRO and SR not totally correct? Who can fill me in?

Ok, keep calling and it'll pay off. I got a bit of the run around, but then decided to call the AKL itself. And low and behold; turns out everybody was right! There are both rooms with a roll in shower wit a king and roll out bed and rooms with a roll in shower and 2 queen beds. You can request (and get, when doing this through special requests) either one of them, as long as it's still available for the days one is looking for.

I've stayed in a roll in shower room at AKL both with savannah and pool view and have had a room with two queens for four guests. The bathrooms there are HUGE and have plenty of space to maneuver in a w/c. It's so nice to stay in a newer resort where needs are accommodated quite well. When are you going? AKL is my favorite resort except for the SD break area. There is NO grass there at all due to the themeing except by the bus stop and I refuse to let my dog do her business around a public gathering area. We have to go to the parking lot where she disappears into the "woods" coming out with brush all over her vest and fur. I guess she gets her "wild time" too, lol..---Kathy

Hi Kathy,

we'll be there in december 2008. I actually booked a concierge room. :thumbsup2 I'm very much looking forward to the AKL. :)

Good to know about the SD-info, by the way! With our waitinglists I'll probably not have my SD yet by then, or totally finished the training yet :headache: , but one can allways hope! And if it where to happen, I will so want to make sure everything is ok for the SD if I do decide to bring him/her along.

There's shorter foliage by the handicapped parking where your dog could have some privacy - it's a short walk to the right when exiting AKL.
