You asked why snow birds, it was spur of the moment, so we just "winged" it!
.

Cute! The reason why I asked was to find out if you were a snowbird to escapes to Florida for the winter. I know quite a few from my hometown in Canada that did this.

Oh, Lisa, forgot to mention that we are originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Basically, it is a prairie province north of Montana and North Dakota. Really nowhere near Nova Scotia. But you are right, it is beautiful up in the maritime provinces.

Colleen, I am talking about the tickets you need to buy to get into the park after 6 pm. That would have cost us another 150 this past trip so we opted to skip it. We definitely are NOT APs. We usually get a one day pass for MK when we go before the cruise but are thinking of driving down on Thursday & Friday so we wouldn't miss anymore school for the kids so we would miss that Thursday at MK.

 Hi all.
Welcome to all the new cruisers! Glad this cruise is growing.
Was checking the DCL site tonight and there are no longer any cat 9's available. How am I suppose to tell how much my cat 9 has gone up? I guess I will add ~ half the difference from a cat 10 & 8. Will this work? Hopefully this means some of the cat 9's might be upgraded (wishful thinking). However I am very happy with our cat 9. Cat 12 would be ok as long as I was on the Magic! :sunny:
Kathy

Oh My, AKB, you are right! I just checked Travelocity and they only offer cat. 5,6 and 8. No more 9-12!!

You are right, how are we suppose to check?

Anyway, glad we have a cabin on the ship!

momx2, I bet you are glad you didn't drag your feet booking this one. But you got your cat. 9, (or above with your guarantee!).

Cool! How exciting for the cruise to be selling out so soon! There will be rooms opening up a few months out from 12/17 as people cancel. There were 9 & 10s on DCL's site just last night!

Yes, Princessmomma, very glad we booked when we did. I think that's what pushed me to do it on 1/2/05. Disney had no Cat. 9 that day and Cruisequick.com was down to guarantees only, so I did it! (I'm quietley hoping for that suprise upgrade) But will be glad with a cat. 9, after all, that is what I'm paying for. We are so excited! I actually cancelled our previously planned trip to WDW for April, just couldn't afford both. And we were there 3 times in 2004. I just couldn't get excited about that trip since we booked this one.

We're thinking of taking the kids out of school 1 or 2 days early and going to MVMCP if they have it on Friday, December 16th. That is my oldest DDs birthday and I thought that would be a treat for her (and me! ). Well, better get back to work. Renae

I just checked & there is only a category 5 available with 2 kids. I checked for 2 adults only & there are 5, 6, & 7. WOW! DH wants to know what is going on with this cruise that it is selling out. LOL!

That is amazing isn't it! But if you compare it to the next week or Easter week, it is about half the cost. Most of us will only have to take our kids out of school for a few days.

I bet a lot of people from the 10 day 2004 cruise booked again for this cruise or 2005 Christmas cruise.

They do say that this is the heaviest booking time for hot weather vacations and cruises.

Glad we all have ours booked!

Colleen

Hey, what are we doing way over on page 2! Gotta get excited people! Only 11 1/2 months left! :earboy2:

momx2,
I agree! We were on the 10 day cruise meet thread and it had over 24,000 post prior to sailing. We should get a list of all that have posted. In regards to the MVMCP prior to the sailing, one idea is to hit the gift shop after riding pirates of the carribean and getting pirate novelties to wear on pirate night. Our kids loved getting dressed up as little pirates ARRG.

L&SGuy, those guys from the 10 day are great! Several of them are regulars in chat & I am talking to them about some of the activities that you guys did for this cruise. A couple pages back I have my email with the info that I am posting on our cruise website.

BTW, if you wait until Halloween, you will be able to get some great deals on pirate costume stuff at a discount. :) Check out Target on Friday morning for the Santa hats. They will be going down to 90%. :)

As we get more people on this thread, maybe we can incorporate some of the activies we did on the 10 day? And come up with some of our own! :smooth: I'll email you my information for the web site.

Thats a very good idea! I heard there is a great pirate store in Key West. Seaulater from the 10 day raided it along with making her own costumes! When back onboard the ship she mentioned it to me and I was so jealous. Next time I'll check it out. Can't remember the name of the store, but, I'll try to find out from her.

Great ideas!

Lisa,
Could you post here when you get new additions to our web page?

Cary,

Were there a lot of cruisers dressed up for Pirate night? How fun was that? What activities were there?

About 10 to 15% dressed up. Mostly informed DISers :earboy2: There were some elaborate pirate: 's at dinner and deck party. At dinner they gave out bandannas and souveniers menus. At the deck party, fantastic show with several surprises. I won't spoil it. But, the fire works were great! When we pulled into St Lucia, the best part was when a real pirate ship (the one from pirates of the carribean) pulled up port side and fired on us. My DD(7) could not understand why they were "shooting bombs and waving at us at the same time" LOL

It was about the same on our 12/4 cruise...the 2nd with the fireworks in the show. :) I had already bought our Mickey tropical outfits so we wore those and the kids wore some black felt pirate hats that we had in their dress up box. Our friends let DS use an extra eye patch they had & he had fun with that. Of course, no matter what you decide to wear that night, you need to get the kids the glow bracelets! We just had the sticks last year but I picked up a couple packs of the bracelets in the dolllar store for this past cruise. The kids loved them & it was MUCH cheaper than buying what the ship was selling at the party. :)

OK, this is sooo typical of my Disney planning. We were all set to do a cat. 12. I kept telling myself we could do it. Next thing you know, we upgraded to a cat. 5. Of course there were lots of reasons. We "need" the space. We will use the verandah. Bottom line is, I do this with every trip. We start out with a limited amount of days, and by the end of the planning, I have added at least one but usually two more days. I think its just a sickness. Right now we are booked at Ron Jon's the night before. All the talk of MVMCP has me thinking of Disney  so we'll see how long the Ron Jon's stay lasts.

Fireworks! I didn't know about those. Are they on every 7 night cruise? How cool! :cool1: I don't know how dressed up (like a pirate) I'll be, but it sounds like a great party. I'm sooooo excited! I really, really hope they do MVMCP on Friday before. I really want to do that. I also really want to stay at the Grand Floridian that Friday night. I can't afford it when we go for a week or longer, but at Christmas it is so beautiful. We were at WDW 2 Decembers ago and loved the Grand Floridian. The 2 story gingerbread house and everything else. We were staying at the Wilderness Lodge and like it at the GF better (no flames please, JMHO!)

Anyway, I am already obessed with this trip. I'm already planning like crazy: Should we bring water or not; should we do excursions or not; should we bring some beer on or not; will my DD (8) get mad when I don't let her sign herself out(I just read that last night on another thread about 8 year olds signing theirselves out. I didn't respond, but there is noway my 8 year old gets to do that). Questions, questions, questions! Planning is more than half the fun! Renae
