any1 going in december 17 2005 on the west

We have early seating but we also have young children. What is everyone doing after the cruise? Is anyone staying the week after? Any suggestions for elsewhere in Florida? We know that its just so busy in the parks that week.

BTW, we just got back yesterday from a week at the parks and its was great and hot.

Just booked it this morning after much pondering. Had initially booked the Caribbean Princess for week of Xmas 2005 but decided we wanted the Disney Western since our son will be 12 and Disney won't be quite as appealing as he gets older. Also, wasn't sure if Princess would be as much fun for him.

We are headed out on the 3 day Wonder this Dec 16 and no sooner do we get off that ship then we hop on the RCCL Sovereign. Would have done the 4 day but rates were high and my 25 year old single son is joining us on that journey (he didn't think Disney would be as much fun).

We will opt for 1st seating - just had 2nd seating on our Voyager of the Seas this summer and found it was just too late for us - my now 10 year old son opted to stay in the kids club instead as that's when all the activities were happening.

See you all in Dec 2005 and may we all pray for smooth sailing in our lives until that time :-)

:wave2: Hey, we're on two pages now! :teeth:

We have two connecting cat. 9 staterooms also. We're scheduled for early dining and have requested A,P,L rotation.

We're planning on checking into the Boardwalk Villas when we get back on 12-24. I know the parks are going to be mobbed, but we'll try to get there early and get out before it gets too bad. We're mostly just looking forward to soaking up the atmosphere, and enjoying being together. :D Can't believe I'm using an entire years worth of points for just 4-5 nights. :earseek:

Looking forward to doing some cruise planning and dreaming with you guys. :D

We'll be on the December 17 2005 Disney Magic cruise too.

3rd cruise on the Disney Magic. The other two were spring 2002 (Eastern) and spring 2004 (Western). Looking forward to the Christmas decor on the ship and in the ports.

Family of 4. Daughters will be 14 and 16. Late seating.

I'm amazed how large this thread already is, considering that there are still 461 days until sailing.

Hey everyone! Just checking in to say this is too long to wait!!!
I was sure I would find others here who feel my pain, so how do you keep yourselves from going nuts?
Also, anyone know anything about the stingray excursion on Grand Cayman? I keep reading on the boards that it is awesome and I also read that Capt.Marvins is awesome. Does Disney use Capt.Marvins? I think we will definately do this one. Just wondered what anyone else knew about it.

I've figured out only one way to handle the long wait - several cruises prior to this one and one of them the 3 day Wonder. This fix can get costly but what can I say - there's nothing like a cruise to forget your cares.

I just got the list of possible excursions today from my TA and though I glanced at them, decided I wasn't going to make any decisions for awhile. I was hoping there would be a scuba dive for people who don't have a certification - my son will have just turned 12 prior to this cruise and would love that. Maybe I'll do some checking around to see what I can find. I know I want to get in some beach time, and plenty of it. I live in Washington State and need several sun fixes during the winter months as it's cloudy and grey here most of the winter. Not to mention very short days with sunrise (when it is sunny) not until after 8am or so and then it sets by 4.

Hi all,

We are on the Magic as well. We are also a family of 4 with a 8 year old son and a 6 year old daughter. We have the early seating.

We will definitely be doing Captain Marvin's stingray excusion. I wonder if it fills up quickly? I think it is quite a bit cheaper than the ship's excursion and better (less people).

We just booked and already our category is up another $100 from what we paid. I wonder how much they will be selling for next year?

Hello everyone!!! I just booked a SPH on this cruise. That actually made up my mind for us as far as when we are cruising in 2005. LOL! We have early seating too. This definantly works best for us with the kids. This time will work well with the kids not missing much in school before the holiday and the stateroom speaks for itself! :) There will be myself & DH, DS (7 when we cruise) & DD (5 when we cruise). Right now we are focused on our 12/4/04 Western which will help alot with our planning for this cruise. I can't add it to my sig yet because DH doesn't know about it. I mentioned that the SPH was available when checking out cruise prices that we might book when onboard for 2005 and found it. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: What is the difference if I reserve it now or get a regular cat 10 in 2 months, right? :) Looking forward to getting to know everyone over the next year plus!

lbgraves - wow, you were lucky to get an sph. When I booked a couple of weeks ago and asked for one, there weren't any available. Must have been good timing.

It has actually been a very difficult few months so this gives me something to smile about. :)

Colleen, where in NC are you? We are on the coast in New Bern.

:wave2: Hi everyone! More and more are joining this cruise - that is great. It seems so far away though. However it is getting closer and closer.
lbgraves - congratulations on getting a SPR. We gave up a SPR on our original cruise that we had to cancel and transfer to this date. But we compromised with adjoining cat 9's to give us more room and still get portholes. Went from 1 room to 2. We are wait listed for connecting Cat 9's.
We are still debating the early vs late dining. I would like late, but there are activities in the teen navigator that my two DS's are interested in at 8:15 (The teen time to work out in the fitness area). So as the time gets closer I'm sure things may change in the navigators (?) who knows. I've heard it is easier to change from early to late so we hopefully will be able to change to late if that is what we decide.
Kathy :sunny:

LOL! Kathy, the CM at the resie table would probably give you a great big hug if you told her that you wanted to switch from early to late seating. They have so many more people wanting to switch TO early.

Goodness! Are you guys OK out there after all the storms have passed thru. The stories coming out of the western part of the state have been terrible. :( We have been so lucky this year. So far we have only had rain from Ivan after it split up in VA & headed back down to the gulf.

Hi everyone! I thought I would bump our thread up from the last page!
I saw there were a couple of others with daughters around my dd age (6 when we cruise). Anyone have boys around 11 and 12?
I am also keeping my eyes open for need disney decorations I can buy now and take to use in our stateroom! It's almost down to one year!

Hello, Hello,

I have 4 DC, with one of those being a 12 year old boy when we cruise! I cannot believe how time has flown already!
This group is growing!!!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to jump in to see what was happening with the group. I haven't seen mention of a website in previous post. Once we get back from our 12/4 I would be happy to update the website that I used for that group with information from the 12/17/05 group. The kids love to see pictures of the friends that they will be seeing on the ship and it helps me to learn names with faces.

A website for our cruise with pictures. What a great idea. We went on a Mariner cruise and I chatted with a lot of other cruisers for months before and when we got on the ship we had a absolutely wonderful time. So did the kids. In fact, next month we are going on the Splendour with one of the families we met on the Mariner.

This will be great. Just tell us where and when.

Colleen
