any1 going in december 17 2005 on the west

Hi cindy,
Wow a pirate's costume just like that. That is great.
We are mostly ready. But still have lots to do. And to top it all off as soon as Christmas is over i have to get the house cleaned up so we can put it up for sale By the end of December. Husband took a promotion a few weeks ago, so we will be moving to Leesburg, which isnt all that far. We will still be close enough to go to Disney on the weekends, so I'm happy! but it will be a busy month for us. We are really getting excited now, the days are really flying by. looking forward to seeing you soon,
Kathy

Wow Kathy - a busy month ahead for you, too! I went through the closet today and put all the stashed holiday gifts into a central box, and found I have a lot of Disney stuff stuck back that will be fabulous for under the tree when we get home (and no shopping for me before the cruise - woo-hoo!). I also found the Disney sunglasses I had picked up for the boys, so I'm starting my official "cruise box" tomorrow where I'll be stashing stuff between now and time to really start packing.

So far, the itinerary for the December 17 cruise still shows Cozumel. But, according to an agent at DCL's Castaway Club "800" number, the itinerary for the December 17 could change too.

I think things look pretty good for us to go to Cozumel. DCL must have secured an anchoring spot for our date. Too bad the Dec. 3rd and 31st itineraries were changed to Nassau. I would be an unhappy camper as well.

Colleen

BTW, the December 3rd, Magic cruisers got their documents this week, so we should receive ours in around Thanksgiving.

Colleen

We are also sailing on the Wonder for Thanksgiving and we got our documents Wednesday from the TA. We are sailing on points for this trip (December) so we are usually not the first to receive our packets.

I missed all the Nassau discussions - I would rather have a sea day than go to Nassau but if we end up there I probably won't get off the ship as that would be the third time in Nassau this year. To me, the ship IS the destination and the ports we visit (except CC) are just fluff. I enjoy the fluff but don't need it.

VERY windy here in Michigan today but warm for November (it is 50). Do I need to send out another copy of the spreadsheet before we go? Does everyone have one?

Have a good week everyone! I leave for Palm Beach in the morning but fly back on Wednesday, work for two days and then it will be time to get ready for the Reunion trip.

I would be very happy if the December 17 cruise is the first Disney cruise to return to Cozumel since Hurricane Wilma. Let's hope the Disney doesn't spring an itinerary change on us, or at least not a change to Nassau.

(I would also be happy if the Disney Cruise passengers two weeks before us could go to Cozumel instead of Nassau. Unfortunately for them, it seems that the itinerary change to Nassau is official for them.)

I just looked at my shore excursions and noticed that our itinerary has us going to Costa Maya on Wednesday, Dec. 21st. So I guess that answers the question about where we're going.

this is true...I just talked to DCL. They jsut made the decision today. She said it would be updated to the homepage soon.

Hi Everyone,
We've been so busy I've not had time to post here - but I've tried to keep up on events.(I've been undergoing dental surgery) BUT, I just learned today that my DD is Pregnant!!! She's been trying for quite awhile - she'll only be 14 weeks along during the cruise. We are all so excited - I hope she won't be seasick or ... ? We took 5 yr. old GS Mattyto Disneyland on Friday (Veterans Day Holiday) - so he could interact w/Disney characters as a preview to the cruise. He LOVED it. DD lives an hour away from Disneyland. (By the way, Rachael, we've never cruised before so we're not sure what to expect w/Matty - who has developmental delays, especially speech delay - what has been your experiences?) I did notice another thread that discussed taking an autistic child on the cruise and they had a very postitvie experience.
I sure do appreciate all of the hints & info you all have shared - we have our pirate costumes together but still need to organize the remainder.
Take care- and be seeing you all before long!
Chris
p.s. Gail, thanks for the spreadsheet!!! :sunny:

I just checked this evening too! Phew! So glad we are not going to Nassau. My sister and her family really wanted to get in a Mexican port, even though it is no Cozumel, still happy. I hope we are docking, I read somewhere that one ship actually tendered last week into Costa Maya. I have been to Costa Maya twice already.

As of a few minutes ago, CruiseCal.com shows three cruise ships at Costa Maya on December 21: Carnival Glory, RCI Explorer Of The Seas, and Disney Magic. The cruise ship pier at Costa Maya can accommodate three ships.

In comparison, CruiseCal.com shows five cruise ships at Costa Maya one day earlier on December 20.

The calendar is at http://www.cruisecal.com/dnn/Default.aspx?tabid=100

Thanks for the good news Richfield!

Our party of 7 ( 3 adults, 14DNiece, 12DNephew, 8DS. 6DD) will be going into the small fishing village called Majahual for a beach day. $3 cab ride per person, $2 beer, great Mexican food (yum ceviche), free lawn chairs, tables, umbrellas, $20 massages, $10 banana boat rides... if anyone wants to join us they are welcome! We can make it a great fiesta!

Colleen

Thanks for the update about Costa Maya. Now I'll have to do a bit of a research into the place and see if we want to get off the ship.

Grandma x 3: Congrats on the new addition to the family!

My DH and I were supposed to go to Costa Maya this past May when we were on the Empress(RCCL), but we had engine problems. We ended up in Cozumel for almost 24 hours, which made me very happy!!!

Colleen...I was thinking of doing the same for that day. There are 15 of us...7 adults and 8 children ages:7DNiece,9DNep,10DD,10DNep,12DS,12Dnep,15DS,17DS! I am soooo relieved that we aren't going to Nassau!

We are still keeping this cruise a secret!!! I am so looking forward to surprising them at Chef Mickeys on the night before our cruise!!! :hourglass

Time is sure flying!!!

Carol :wave2:

I guess I have to change my Magnetic door signs to say Costa Maya instead of Cozumel. I thought I had marked that off my list of things to do, LOL.

Colleen and Carol, that sounds like fun with the fishing pier. My DH liked the idea of the $2 beers. Maybe we will join you.

Have a great day.

Colleen, I was reading last night about that beach and it sounded interesting, our family may head over for the day. I wasn't sure if we would just stay onboard and have a ship day, I guess we will play it by ear. I have been out of the loop for a few weeks now as I am recovering from having pneumonia but I feel 100 times better than I did!! Time is really passing quickly now, one month from today we leave for the trip.

Have a good day,
Laura

So when are y'all starting to pack? I'm hoping to put up the Christmas tree the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and then start my packing box for the cruise - stuff I want to be sure to take that I don't need between now and then. I need to look for the Ultimate Packing list again - I know I saw it somewhere on the board - so I can choose from it.

HI everyone,
Too early for me to pack, but I did finish my door signs yesterday.
Plus I have 6 gifts to get and I will be done with all my Christmas shopping, accept for stocking stuffers. Tomarrow I will start baking and freezing cookies and holiday goodies. It will probably take me 2 weeks working on and off to finish that project, especially with Thanksgiving coming up.
Today I hope to finish wrapping all the presents I have bought so far and get them all hidden before company starts arriving next month. Plus I have started my Christmas cards, but wont finish for a couple of days. I even bought Christmas stamps for them yesterday so I can do everything accept mail them. One less thing to have to do as the cruise gets closer.
31 days to go!!!

I can never pack for a trip, even a super long abroad trip, any earlier than the week before departure. In fact I usually don't start until a few days in advance. I just can't do it for some reason, even though I consider it each year. And I am responsible for packing for DH, DS and myself.

Not packing yet, but making my lists (and checking them twice) since I won't be home the week before Christmas to do those last minute things. Family is coming here Christmas day (DM and DS live 2 hours away) so I've got to get all the food prepped and in the freezer before the trip...that way, all I have to do Christmas day is thaw and heat in the oven. I've started making my "timeline" of when I have to have things done...mail my boxes to the port, finish shopping, packing. Packing is going to be tricky...DD has been growing her hair for locks of love and we're going to surprise her w/the trip to WDW before the cruise and do her haircut there. So, I have to pack under cover of darkness so she won't know why we're leaving 3 days early. I will probalby leave my biggest laundry basket in my room, and just start "collecting" and leaving laundry items in there the week before. Finished my door signs, just gotta print them out...have all of my "costumes" set.
BTW, has anybody out there read the "Sweet Potato Queens" books? I need an idea for something from the book...brainstorming if you will. PM me please!!!!!!!!!!
Well, better run...the urchins are demanding food again. :earboy2:
