any1 going in december 17 2005 on the west

Hi Tami:

It is great to hear from you. The girls and I were watching for a posting to come in from you yesterday. They were worried about your little girls. Our girls were so excited to see the picture of the girls in the pirate costume. They were really wanting to see them. So glad to hear things were survivable at your place. Water in the house is never nice but it certainly could have been worse. It was great to hear from Kathy yesterday as well and to know her house survived. We have rented a house for our 2 1/2 weeks there so I sure hope that house is still okay. Will have to write to the owners once things settle down there.

Take care,

I see on Disney Cruise Lines website the November 5 and 19 Western cruises are going to Costa Maya in place of Cozumel. The one on the 5th still has Key West listed but the one on the 19th has Castaway Cay listed twice (once in place of Key West). That seems odd to me.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Sandra

I still want to have a little hope that we will make it into Cozumel, although that is dwindling after looking at the pictures. :confused3 I wouldn't mind two stops at Castaway, but it is strange that the week before is going into Key West. I thought maybe the 19th cruise was a double-dip but the original itinerary was Key West, it does seem odd.

The Thanksgiving Magic cruises always do CC twice - there is some sort of race going on in Key West and the ship can't go there.

We didn't have anything figured out yet for Cozumel so guess I might think about changing gears and start looking at Costa Maya. Based on the pictures - I just don't see how they would be ready for cruise ships in 2 months.

Hi Gail,
Yes, we probably wont make it to Cozumel, on the news it said several months before the docks will be repaired, but all the stores and restaurants are completley destroyed. I'm afrraid it will be quite some time before they are up and running again. The cruise industry is their main source of income so I know they will do the repairs ASAP, but will be months I'm sure.
Today is beautiful and sunny here in Florida, cool though! 49 this morning. Brrrrrr, not normal in Florida this early in the season.
Well time to start those daily chores that will be done for us on the ship.
Hope everyone is having a great week,
Kathy

Hi everyone,
I believe we are at the 50 day mark today!!!
Tomarrow will be in the 40's. sounds so much better than 50.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and a safe Halloween.
Kathy

Hi Kathy:

Had to laugh at your posting because you are thinking the same way I am. We are at 42 today until we leave for our vacation but I keep saying that on Monday we will be in the 30's already because it is 39 days then.

Hope everyone is having a great day and is ready for Halloween on Monday.

Take care,

Has anyone actually paid those extra port charges assessed for this cruise that was announced over a month ago? I booked using DU and received their email notice. Since then I've checked my online ressie record regularly for the updated price info so I could pay, but it still shows the old figures and we are still under paid in full status.

We have 3 rooms booked and the additional charge showed up on one of them, right after it started, but it has never showed up on the other two, so far.

Watched the Disney Magic leave on the web cam today. That's us in seven more weeks. How cool is that? Wonder which islands we will be going to?

Take care,

My guess:
  • 75% chance that our ports will be Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Castaway Cay, exactly as originally planned.
  • 20% chance that our ports will be Key West, Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, and Castaway Cay, like the Disney Magic's November cruises.
  • 5% chance that our ports won't be either of the above

As long as I am on the Magic - I don't really care where we go! I agree with those that don't feel we will make it to Cozumel - but I read that they mayor (or another govenment official) said that they would be back open to tourists by the middle of this month! Based on all of the rubble I find that hard to believe but I guess when tourism is your living - many things can be done!

Have a safe and Happy Halloween everyone!

I agree...as long as I'm on the ship, and I don't have to cook or clean, I don't really care where we go. Obviously I WANT to go on the western, that's why I booked it, but if we go elsewhere it's not the end of the world and the western ports will still be there in the future.

Khakismum and I just got back from a FABULOUS homeschool fieldtrip that we feel really prepared us for the cruise! (or at the very least made the kids leary about what they'd be swimming with! :earseek: ) We spent 2 days at the Tennessee Aquarium and children's discovery museum. THey got to simulate a lock, see a shark 3D IMAX movie, and see the brand new salt water exhibit. An Octopus put on a show for us by walking across the tank glass right in front of us, and then shooting off to another area of the tank. THat was pretty cool. They also got to touch the stingrays and sharks...excellent practice for our snorkeling with the stingrays in GC.
After that, we spent 2 days on a cabin cruiser going up and down the Tennessee River...all in all a wonderful prep for the cruise! :earboy2: (and really prepared the mommys b/c on the cruise we won't have to prepare food or keep up with toys!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Hi Kelley,
WOW!! It seems all of you had a great time. All those critters you saw are why I never swim in the ocean. I am a coward I guess. I like to wade ankle deep, but that's it. Here in Florida we have way too many shark attacks and gator attacks so you just learn to stay out of the water unless it's your own pool, but even then sometimes you get a gator in your pool. during mating season they turn up everywhere. I have several in a pond just down the road from me that I see all the time when I drive to the store.
Well times if flying by for us, but I still have my pirates outfit to do, I got side tracked with having so much company the past few weeks, so now I really have to get busy. At least my door signs are done, just want to get them laminated for protection. Not sure where to go to get that done. I know Kinko's does it, but we dont have any Kinko's near us.
Looking forward to meeting all of you very soon,
Kathy

OK, I have some time to read some posts here on teh board.

Back on page 40
Sandra----Tami: Last night on the news we saw a house from your area that has been built specifically to survive the hurricane weather. It was pretty amazing. ( Those houses are in my backyard. We were supposed to have a preserve with lots of wildlife and now we have an exit off of Interstate 95 and Million dollar homes that are being built to survive hurricanes.)

Scoth-----We plan on arriving at the port 11:30 0r noon, the earlier the better. If I could we would arrive there first thing after the kids wake up. LOL

on page 42
Kathy-------that is a good idea about laminating the door signs.

Off to work I go now.

More reading later
Hugs
Tami

Ours were paid, but as a gift from our TA for being such great clients ;) We found out about the extra charges the day after we paid in full.

Okay, we went shopping with Nana today. My 12 year old is going to better dressed than me! My 12 year old got clothes that don't look like 12 year old clothes. My 12 year old is taller than me.....oy, I need a drink. Daddy wants to know that if DD wears these clothes on the cruise can he bring his shotgun on board? :rotfl2: I just want to know where did my sweet LITTLE girl go?? :confused3 She looks waaaaaay too good in these dresses!

43 days 16 hours and 57 minutes to go....but who's counting?? ME!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

I know what you mean about our babies growing up. Way to fast. My 9 1/2 year old daughter today went to school a necklace and earrings on. Never wears any jewelry at all. Has 2 jewelry boxes filled but never wears them. She also wore lipgloss (the only makeup I let her wear). I want to know who the boy is so I can have a little chat with him, LOL

Have a great day

Tami
