any1 going in december 17 2005 on the west

Kelley:

We are sending our prayers your way as well. I know what it is like to have a sick little child.

Question for you: Are you familiar with the train/trolley ride in Key West? We were thinking of doing that until I came across a discussion thread regarding this. It said it is boring for young children. You need to be very much into history to enjoy it. We were also thinking of doing the island tour on Grand Cayman. Haven't booked our excursions yet. I don't think we can until 75 days before the cruise. This is our first cruise and we are only category 6 and 11 so if I understand things correctly we can't book yet. Very soon we will be able to though.

Take care and God bless.

Hi Kelley,
Thanks for taking the time to give us a update on your daughter. We'll keep her in our prayers. There isnt anything worse than not being able to do something to help your child when they are ill. That is every parents worst nightmare. Tomarrow will be better. :sunny:
It sure sounds like you have your entire trip all very well organized.
I'm not that well prepared yet, but I'm getting there. I'm still deciding on my door sign. I keep laying out things on my sheet and then changing them around a bunch of times. I need to decide pretty quick before i loose all the pieces. It gives me something to keep me busy. My last child moved out this past week, so it is toooo quiet here. Of course he is almost 23, so I knew it was coming, and since he was married, it was a must. I just hate to see the last one leave.
Keep us posted on your little one, and try to get some rest,

Kelley, wow you are organized!! I'm still trying to decide on restaurants at WDW after we get back. Anyway, I really hope your daughter is feeling better soon, take care.

I saw the same thread about the conch train/trolley, but since my kids are homeschooled, we plan to turn this into a school day ;) My older children are 11 and 8, and I think will do well. I think we will do the hop on hop off (can't remeber at the moment which one that is...something about sleep deprivation!). I've heard that one isn't as much into the history, but with the 5 year old (who knows she can NOT get sick in Dec!) I think the getting off and on might be a good thing.

We are suppose to be at Epcot on Sunday too, but not 100% sure at this point. If you get the chance, drop me a line before you go to WDW and tell me what you will be wearing and how many of you are going. I'll keep an eye open for you. We usually go in the a.m. and stay until after lunch.
So you might be at AK while we are at Epcot, since the animals are more active in the morning. But i will look just in case, if you send me a description.
mom x4,grandma x4

We'll likely be at Epcot after lunch as we're doing breakfast at AK in the morning. We'll be a family of 4, wearing Disney t-shirts :) :rotfl2: The boys definitely want to do Soarin' and play Toon Tag at Innoventions - and there are some new (to me) games in Innovention West that they will like, too. I'll have to see if I can scare up a photo to send.

gail- I didn't know about the spreadsheet, I would like a copy please

sorry to hear your daughter isn't well. I know how difficult that can be and hope she's better soon

Cindy,
I will be looking in the afternoon if we make it to Epcot. You'll love soarin, and it does have a fast pass if there is a long wait to get on in the afternoon. Lately the crowds are gone, but since it is new, it may be busy enough to use a fast pass. There is a new eating area in The Land where Soarin is at. We often stop there for lunch as it is healthier foods.
Can you tell me what the design of your disney T-shirts will be? Words or characters? That would help, just in case we make it. I dont want to set up a exact time and place, since I'm not 100% sure we will be there. Otherwise I would set up a meet. If you post a picture that would be great too.
I guess I could describe myself as in my 50's, gold wire rim glasses, long brown hair, to the shoulders, average build, about 5 foot 6 or 7 inches. I will be wearing a white short sleeve shirt with donald duck on the back with a surf board being held over his head. It is home made so nobody else will have one like that. My DH is same age, 6 foot tall, medium build, always has a disney billed cap on, wire rim glasses, denim shorts and usually a pirate t-shirt on.
Maybe we will connect, who knows. If not we will in December for sure. I hope you have a great time.

Hi,
Thanks Kathy, (mom x4, grandma x4) for the invite to join this thread - we're official - paid in full for this cruise and even booked our flight. We're set to book our excursions on Oct. 3. I have enjoyed reading these so much and we've picked up sooo many great tips. This is our first ever cruise - we are such newbies.
There will be 6 of us: me = grandma, aka Chris, my son's children: Melissa 12 and Jack 10, my daughter Lori, her husband Christopher (Chris- also!) and Matthew 5. The rest of the family is unable to join us due to conflicting work schedules, etc.
We were already excited about this upcoming adventure but after reading what everyone has shared - we're beyond excited!
I do have a question - does anyone have any special needs children? Matthew had open heart surgery at 4 months old and during surgery had a stroke. He subsequently has some developemental delays - one of which is apraxia ( speech delays). He particiaptes in all the "regular" activities here - soccor, basketball, swimming, et al - so otherwise he's a normal, happy, outgoing child. I just wondered about the counselors and the shipboard activies for his age group - what to expect.
So, happy to be joining all of you.
Chris

Grandmax3,
I'm glad you joined us, I was wondering if you would. We are all going to meet the first day on the ship at the promenade lounge at 3:00. So if you and your family are on board by then, please join us, so we can meet.
My GD has delayed speech problems too. She cruised 2 years ago with us and is coming on this cruise too. The
counselors are great, but you have to let them know what the problem is, so they can work with it. Unfortunately it's usually other kids that can cause problems by making fun of those who act different from themselves. However on the cruise they are all so busy having fun, that problem really doesnt happen. Our little GS has a high level of autism and has a communication problem too, but I'm confident he too will have a great time. There are lots of family activities in Studio Sea for the entire family too, so you can be with him. Lots to do all over the ship and in the clubs for him, so I'm sure there wont be a problem. The counselers deal with these types of situations all the time, they take care of thousands of kids every year, so I'm sure there isnt much they havnt had to handle. It is late now so I have to go, but we will talk more later, dont worry, he will be fine.

Chris, What I didnt get a chance to say in my previous post was that when you do your excursions you can go on line and sign all the kids up for the kids clubs which will save you time on board the first day. Then the kids and the parents will just have to drop by the club to get their ID bracelets and a beeper for their parents to have in case the counselors need to reach them. When they do this they will recieve a Navigator (paper) that they can read and discuss with their parents to pick what they want to do. So all your grandkids can plan out what activities will fit their likes and abilities. The clubs have lots of free time for the kids too. It will all be expalined in the paper on the first day. It's hard to do, but if everyone takes the time to read the kids and adult Navigator as soon as you get it, you'll be able to get the most for your time on each and everyday. Each night, sometime 9 or later your room host will deliver a new Navigator to your room that lists activities for the next day. You can read the night before and be all set for the next days activities.
They do have guest services on board that has someone 24/7 so you can ask questions at anytime too.
My youngest GD will be 6, so she will be in the same club as your 5 year old GS. I also have a 10 year old GS that will probably be in the club with your older grandkids. Maybe we can introduce them in the promenade lounge, so they have a familiar face in the club? My grandkids are use to being with lots of kids in groups that they dont know. Their mom has kept them busy with clubs and volunteer work since they could walk, so they talk with others very easily.
Are you going to make door signs for your doors? :confused3
I'm still experimenting with mine, I really need to make some decisions with them, so I can finish and get them laminated to protect them.
I have everyones pirates outfit but mine. So I have to get out and look for me. I have some ideas, but I just havnt got into town to look for stuff. I live out of town a ways, so it's 30 minutes or more to get to most stores. We have a couple grocery stores about 10 minutes away and a walmart, but our walmart doesnt have hardly any clothes at all, it's a tiny supercenter.
Well time ot sign off,Again, I'm so gald you decided to join us on this thread, there are lots of nice people to chat with and get help with any questions you might have.
See you very soon,
Kathy

Kathy -
I'll have DH take a picture of me tonight in the shirt I'll wear on Sunday so you'll have an up-to-date picture to look for me. I haven't decided which shirt to wear yet, so I'll have to decide that today - most likely the navy blue with patriotic Mickey on it.

If anyone has little girls and is looking for Princess outfits, Party City just put them 50% off. They have really cute ones for about $10

I have another thing marked off my list. I finally found a pirate costume for my DH. He loves it. Now I have to find myself one. After that we will be set. Time is flying by, I can not believe it. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
