Any word on the POTC rehab in September/October?

We're visiting at the end of the month and Pirates will be down for rehab 4 out of the 5 days we'll be there. (9/28-10/02).

Is this just routine maintenance...and if so, is there any chance they push it back?

Since there is nothing seasonal going on with POTC it is likely routine maintanence. All rides are "subject to change without notice" so in answer to your question, yes there is a chance it will change. Unfortunately past experience would suggest the chance is small. If you have one day with POTC running make good use of it!
