Will we be banned to pool hop at SSR? Sounds like a great pool, I wouldn't mind driving over when I'm at BWV next summer.

Since DVC members are not allowed to pool hop to resorts that have DVC resort "attached". like YBC and BWV, I would assume that pool hopping would not be allowed to SSR. But, the powers that be could surprise us, especially in the early years of the resort...marketing may want have people in the pool when people take their open house tour.

You are mistaken. Pool hopping (with some restrictions) is allowed to all Disney-operated resort pools -- except at the Yacht & Beach Clubs (due to the popularity of SAB) and AKL (due to wanting to keep out excessive numbers of visitors to the AKL, though that's not the official reason).

This has nothing to do with having a DVC resort "attached." (Consider Wilderness Lodge and Boardwalk, where pool hopping is allowed.) And, aside from the fact that it appears likely the the Treehouse Villas will be branded as part of SSR and will be available to cash guests, I don't understand the point about SSR being a DVC resort that is "attached."

There is no reason to believe that DVC pool hopping to SSR will be banned.

When did pool hopping to BWV become unavailable? I thought the only pools excluded from pool hopping were SAB and the pool at AKL. We pool hopped to BWV from BCV in July and weren't told to leave.

The only resort I knew of where pool-hopping was not allowed was YC/BC's SAB. I didn't even know about AKL, although I probably wouldn't choose to hop there anyhow. It was not my favorite resort when we stayed there last year.

We just returned on August 1st from a trip and went to the BW pool and had no problem. We were styaing at OKW and were at AK, and they were having the Member Day festivities at BW, so we decided to do our thing at AK, spend some time at the BW pool ,and then go to the Member Day festivities. It was a nice day all around too!

During our July visit to OKW, we were told by a CM that there would be "exclusive" OKW/SSR pool-hopping.

Perhaps others have heard something different.

Y'all are right, of course, I don't know why I was thinking pool hopping had the same restrictions as being able to stay at "attached" resorts on points.

Now I wonder why they would do that. That would mean the cash guests from OKW would be able to go to SSR? I don't think this is likely, but one never knows.

Just pondering, I think it might not be allowed. The SAB situation was perhaps unusual in that people might stop over from Epcot and with two large resorts plus the DVC add on and the really great pool, all the factors made for a really busy pool.

SSR being near busy DTD and sounding like it will have a great pool - maybe a similar situation.

Or not. ;)

Guess we will just have to wait and see.........

If they only allow OKW folks to pool hop to SSR, the overall policy is getting real confusing. SAB = no, AKL = no, BWV = yes, OKW = maybe, WLV = yes

I have a funny feeling that the rule of thumb is going to be
"stay where you want to swim."

the way that SSR looks now - it will only be a DVC resort - might still be a WDW resort too - if they can still rent the treehouses - but on the whole it looks like DVC will be running the show

Okay they can't say to other DVC members - sorry folks you can't pool hop to SSR - but the WDW resorts still allow the DVC members to pool-hop to their resorts - I am sorry I don't see this happening.

If SSR is closed to pool-hoping - then I would think shortly all pool-hopping would be discontinued.

Kept in mind that the WDW resorts are not controlled by DVC. they are 2 different organizations. So for the WDW resorts to continue to allow DVC members to pool-hop - I would bet that SSR would have to allow it.

Now of course we wait until Spring to see who is right!

Wouldn't bother me,I don't understand the importance people put on pool hopping to begin with.

Pool hopping is alive and well! We called and pool hopped to WL 7/9. We had lunch at Whispering Canyon and then spent about 1 1/2 hours at the pool. The pool was busy , but not overly crowded. More chairs would have been available if people didn't leave their dirty towels on them!
As far as SSR goes, I think that pool hopping will be available. SAB and AKL had their reasons for not allowing pool hopping and I don't think that this applies to SSR.

Pool hopping is alive and well at the present time, and I sincerely hope it remains that way because I love this perk, but IF Disney declares no pool hopping at SSR, I think this will be a very big indication that pool hopping everywhere is very quickly on it's way out.

Based on the "exclusive agreement between OKW and SSR" rumor, I could envision a situation where this would be instituted and all other pool hopping would be discountinued.
