My DH primarily eats a vegan diet for health reasons (it got him off of cholesterol meds & reversed the pre-diabetic stuff that he was dealing with). So when we go on vacation, he wants to stick to that way of eating as much as possible. On our next DL trip, we (he & I; the kids will be under the watchful eye of my sister that evening!) will be going to dinner 1 evening at Napa Rose. After reading many others' reports of what a fun experience it is to dine there at the chef's counter, I plan to make the reservation for that! It sounds like a very unique experience.

I am curious as to whether any other vegans have eaten at Napa Rose. What was the food like? Would you eat there again? My DH will eat vegetarian in a pinch, but generally prefers no animal products at all (which is often a challenge when we are on vacation). For him, it's totally keeping heart disease at bay and I like having my DH around for many years to come!

Here is the regular menu for Napa Rose http://allears.net/dlr/din/menu/men_nr.htm

Alternatively (and this might be a better option for your DH) you could go for the $90 tasting menu. He could then discuss his dietary needs, as well as his likes and dislikes and get customised dishes.

I'm a vegetarian with a gluten allergy, and I was just as worried as you are. However, once I mentioned to the waiter my dietary needs, he sent out the chef who asked me what I liked and just went and made it for me! It was incredible, and made for the best dining experience of our WHOLE trip.

On a side note, check out this little video I made of the view from our room in the Grand Californian. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqI-4Pl8aiY

Your video is GREAT!

And thank you so much for your reply! It definitely puts my mind at ease. I'm going to have them put a note in our reservation about DH being a vegan. It should be fun to see what they come up with!

Dining will probably also give you the chef's name and number so that you can speak to him/her beforehand. Dining did this when I booked character meals at Plaza Inn and Storytellers.
