Any update on WL pool? (NOW OPEN)

We just returned this afternoon from a weekend stay at the WLV. the pool is not even close to opening. I didn't ask about it but if I had to guess, I would say it is at least a week from being completed.

The last I heard, the target date for completion was April 1st. I've not heard any other earlier dates recently (though they could do it quicker, or take longer).

I expect to have updated photos a week from today, at the latest on Friday (I don't think I'll be getting down there any sooner).

If it can be completed in at least a week then that is great news for my family and I! I feel terrible for those going before the pool is open and the pool is what they expected to have use of. I myself am very disappointed with the lack of information I was provided with. By the time I read about this on this site, all standard rooms at GF, Poly, Contemporary and AKL were all booked up I got in contact with guest communications as soon as I read this and was told of the April 1 opening of the pool. I expressed my concern to guest communications that although the target date is April 1st, that is not a definate considering, weather conditions, unforeseen problems, etc. That got me no where, I was told until April 1st comes they can not accommodate in any way. So, I guess I have to wait till April 1st don't know how much help they'll be when I arrive on April 4 and all rooms are booked I too will be traveling with three children and two of them are little, two strollers, diaper bags, etc., it won't be much fun to use any kind of transportation to use a pool while paying $$$ for a deluxe resort

For those who are staying at WL during the pool rehab--
There is a boat that goes from WL to the Contemporary. You can use the pool there with just that one boat ride. I understand that several people that have already been to WL and back really enjoyed the pool at the Contemp, so hopefully you will find it fun too.

And don't forget....there is a "quiet" pool over at the VWL that you can use as well. No boat ride necessary for that swim.

Took this one this past gloomy Sat night. It was actually a great evening to visit the WL in the cold drizzly weather and have dinner. It just makes you feel warm. Haven't been following the rehab and was surprised to walk out and see a fence and an empty pool.

wow we were going there 4 spring break then my daughter dance team decided to go 2 a dance comp in NYC kinda happy we cancelled r ressys now that would had been a real dissapointment 4 the kids well i gues shopping broadway and more shopping 4 us and dances competition here and there well probly have more fun in NYC than being around a empty pool at wl so happy my daughters team found a dance comp. in NYC shopping here we COME lol

I found out about the pool closing shortly after I booked my trip. But I honestly thought I would be all set. The orginal plan for the pool was sirpost to be completed by March 2nd. I'm leaving April 15th and my son loves the water ( he also has autism so explaining this to him would be difficult). I hope it is ready.

From what I can tell on these message boards - they absolutely dropped the ball on letting people know when booking. Your TA should be able to get you into one of the other deluxe resorts with a little arguing.

BUt if not .. there is a 'direct' pool shuttle bus that will take you to the Contemporary to use the pool... The concierge at the WL can fill you in on all the details.

My TA complained loud and large to Disney about this. There is no way she was told about this closing. The response from Disney? A) Go to another resort (we already checked - no availability) - any additional costs come out of our pocket OR B) Here's your money back. Your trip is cancelled.

Isn't this a wonderful FIRST Disney experience for my wife and family?

She's writing a formal letter to complain, but it won't help us in time.

We're going to make the best of it - but not impressed so far. We paid $$$ for the "extras" of a deluxe resort. Now the main attraction is closed? Not good.

$$ = means this should be close to your original rate at WL.

Either your TA didn't try very hard or I dunno what. Those are all showing availability on your dates. Are you travelling on some kind of discount plan with limited room availability?

Pricing out the cheapest room at WL an 8 day package with park hoppers for your party size came about around 3743$. I'm presuming you had something at least better than that.. which would be WoodsView BunkBed @ 4097.88$ If you had a courtyard view.. your base rate would have been around 4254.. pretty much in line with some of the things above.

OKW is 4011$ and frankly in the opinion of some.. worth more.

Contemporary is a bit higher at 4294$.

The junior suite at Coronado Springs is a VERY nice room.

You didn't say -- but when did you book your trip? This renovation was announced and posted only in early January or late December. And the Villa's pool is still open and available for use.

my dad is a little frustrated by this. not only did disney not inform us that the pool was being rennovated, but i didn't find out that the new re-open date had been pushed back until i was on here looking.

we paid for a courtyard view room and it's slightly frustrating that we are going to be looking at a construction site.

our stay is march 30-april 5 and i'm hoping that just maybe it'll open a few days early so we don't have to stare at a fence and a waterless pool.

bummer.

Just saw it on Thursday, pool isin't open. It has a big green mesh type fence surrounding the entire area. Gyser also not working. Only steam coming out of it.

The orginal date of the pool being finished was March 2nd maybe that is why anyone who booked for after that date was not informed. I know I was never told ethier and I have spoken directly to them. If I cancel now I lose money. I'm not going until April 15th I hope this problem is cleared up by then.

I booked in January through Travelocity, and when I did, a message popped up about the pool closing. But we're going April 21-27, so hopefully, it will be open by then!

Just called WL and spoke with CM. Was told pool is still "expected" and she stated "expected" twice date of completion is April 1st. I asked if we could use any other pools and she stated, yes the villa's pool and Contemporary pool. I asked if we could use Poly or GF pool and she stated, "no" only the Contemporary pool and villas pool. I asked if transportation is being provided and she stated as of now only the resort boat that all the other resort guest in that area use, no special boat for pool use only and no bus. So, when the boat stops running you have to ride monorail to TTC and take a bus to your resort from there, for those that like to take late night swims and I'm one of those

Hopefully, the pool will be open by April 1st if not before
