Any traditions for your last night?

I've read several posts where people have great traditions for their first day at the world, places they eat at or rides they go on first. I'm wondering if anyone has any traditions for their last day/night? The last day of any vacation for me is always a little hard, I tend to get a little mopey.:( I'm hoping to come up with a great idea for our last night so I have something to look forward to and maybe forget the fact that we leave the next day. Any great ideas out there?!:D

Yes, me crying on the balcony because I can never believe that it is over!

DH and I always stay till close in MK. We take one last look at the castle then head out to DD and spend the last of our money in the shops. We then have a drink at HOB toasting to our next trip. Things will change with DD3 this year though.:p

Since we stay at FW, we head down to the beach to see the fireworks. It's so quiet there. As the fireworks end, it almost seems that "real life" creeps back in:(

that is a wonderful thought - I will have to think about creating a "tradition" along those lines

Sitting dumbfounded somewhere on the resort grounds wondering how something that took so long to get here passed so quickly. :(

After checkout, we usually go to DTD for lunch and a little more shopping before heading home.

We love to spend our last night in Epcot so we can see Illuminations. I always cry when the sidewlks light up. I'm crying now just thinking about it!!

As a matter of fact our last day tradition started from reading this suggestion on the DIS a few years ago, in a thread similar to this one. When we leave the theme parks for the last time, we always get our hands stamped, even though we'll be heading home early the next morning. That's our promise to each other that the four of us will return (and return and return and return...). On our last trip they weren't actually stamping any more late in the evening, but a kind CM stamped us all when our agitated children said "but we HAVE to". Works for us.

We like to spend it at Epcot. We stroll around World Showcase & then watch Illuminations a final time. We then sit & watch the Fountain of Nations perform & the people stream out of the park until closing time. Then one more walk around Crescent Lake, taking our time to soak in all the magic one last time before heading back to our resort.

I love your idea too CindyAnn! I'm already feeling like I have to know when I'm going back and I'm not even there yet!

Our last day is usually a whirlwind day with no breaks, that's not to say we don't chill out in the parks, it's a day to savour and repeat favorites. We'll start in MK with a breakfast with Cindy & friends, do some rides then we'll head to MGM for a while then end the day in Epcot (my fav and I'm the planner!) It's more relaxing to me to see Illuminations than the other shows since Epcot is so spread out. We definitely have learned to linger after the show...

The next morning we're doing Chef Mickey's, then a little more shopping in DTD before we have to leave. I hate planning that day out, but try to make it fun.

Cindy, I just adore your tradition of getting your hand stamped!! That is so neat! :)

We don't have a tradition for the last night. But we did find out the hard way we can't do MK the last night. Our last trip in Sept. as we left MK our DD 9 & DS 7 were crying hysterically. They didn't want the magic to end.Of course I start crying. We had to walk through the castle again, look out over Main St .We couldn't believe how the kids responded.I told them Walt Disney wouldn't want us to be sad.He built this place for people to enjoy and be happy. We can dream of coming back. That speech did the trick. As sad as that moment was it is also one of my favorite memories. We took our time walking out of the park and enjoyed our family one last time at WDW.So as we do our last minute trip planning it is an unwritten law we don't do MK the last night.

I think it will be Electric Light parade from the shores of FW.

We spend our last day at the MK and watch the fireworks. We then head over to MGM and watch Fantasmic and end the day at Epcot for Illuminations. It is a very long day but my entire family looks forward to the last night with all the fireworks.

For five trips now, we've spend the last day in Epcot, then begin leaving the park at about 9:15. We drive to DTD and always manage to catch Illuminations starting as we pass by the BW exit. We then spend the evening at PI, taking many opportunities to stand out back of the AC and stare at the softly lit Spaceship Earth in the distance.

For our family, it's dinner at Teppanyaki on our last night, a slow stroll back to our resort and a late night swim.

Well, our last day is usually spent at MK, or park hopping and hitting our favorites one last time. Our last night is usually at DTD. I usually go most of the trip without buying a bunch of stuff for myself. (ds is a different story!;) ) On our last night I like to go to DTD and make sure I have my coffee mug, Christmas ornaments, magnets, etc. that I just can't live without!:D

I always get my flight out late in the day, so we can do major touring our last day. We always end with MGM and take one last ride on RnR. We've done this the last four trips, and I love it. This year airfare was $30 cheaper per ticket if we flew out at 8:30 a.m. I called Stephen and told him, and he said I'd be so sad if I missed my last RnR ride. It was worth $60 to him to see a smile on my face as we left. So, we leave at 6:35 p.m., and get to do much more than RnR! Isn't he sweet?!?
