Any ideas as to how I can keep sandwiches(with lunch meats) cool while we are at the waterparks.

I do not have icepacks nor do I have a freezer at my hotel room.( Can't do the frozen drinks with the sandwiches trick)

Is this impossible or maybe just a bad idea?:confused3

Why don't you bring a collapsable soft-sided cooler and fill it with ice from the hotel ice machine in the moring. I don't see why that wouldn't work. That's what I would do.

Use doubled ziplock bags of ice from the hotel ice machine.

Might help as well if the cooler is a lighter colour especially if you are in the sunshine

Another thought - take the double baggie idea with the ice and then wrap it all in a white towel and stick in a knapsack or similar (ideally lighter colour) - this way you get sun reflection and the towel will absorb and ice etc. in case you have a leak :crazy2:

ny disney fan.. where would i be able to find the collapsable coolers? It feels like i have been looking everywhere and i cannot find one. I am guessing you're from ny, im from jersey so we have about the same stores. Thank you in advance. :thumbsup2

I'm assuming you would want something on the small side in which case I would check the camping section at Target (where they have the coolers and thermoses). BJ's Wharehouse has all the summer stuff out now but their collapsable coolers are on the large side (with wheels). If you order online, Amazon.com has many different kinds. But I would first check like a Target or Walmart. Bed Bath and Beyond.

Walmart also has them for about $10. Put a double zip lock bag full with ice on the bottom, then put your wrapped sandwhich's in another bag lay on top of ice. Then put a towel or napkins on top. It will work out great.

I second the idea of a collapsable cooler with ziploc bags of ice. You can buy them in the cooler/camping section of stores like Target, K-mart, etc. (They're also a spring/summer seasonal item at many drugstores, etc.)

You can stash it in a locker at whatever park you're going to, so you don't have to drag it around with you (and it will stay cooler than it would if it were in the sun all day).

I had read elsewhere on these boards about a backpack with a cooler in it. I saw one today at Target - it is in the sporting goods section near the regular coolers. I believe the price was $24.99. It looked pretty neat. The main section of the backpack is an insulated cooler. There is a place for a water bottle on the outside plus a couple of other zippered compartments. One outside section even had a place for credit cards/park tickets. If your dh wouldn't mind carrying it I think it would be great. I just think it might be to heavy when packed for a lady to carry (at least I wouldn't want to lug it around).:rotfl:

We always took a cooler and ice packs but since you dont have ice packs just use ice from your hotel ice machine and put that in the cooler. At the park try to get a shady spot so you can stick the cooler in the shade with a light color towel over top of it to reflect the sun.
