Any tips for Castaway Cay first timers?

What age do they take children at Scuttle's Cove - is it the same as on the ship? Would like to leave my almost 3 yr old with his 5 yr old brother if that's possible for about an hour.

So is food available at 9 am at Castaway Cay or does "lunch" start at a certain time. Do they serve dinner at CC or are you supposed to be back on the ship for dinner?:confused3
Lunch is 11-2 I believe. Dinner is on the ship. All aboard time at cc is usually 4:30.

Not sure exactly but I think under 3 is still in the Flounders area so that would apply to cc as well. I'm sure there are others here that could give a better answer. My youngest was 6 when we 1st cruised DCL so I have no exp with Flounders.

I have been to CC 2 times. Great trip both times even if the 2nd one was cut short due to Hurricane Noel. We snorkeled on our own at both SB and in the snorkel lagoon! It was awesome! SB is not really a snorkeling place but we did see some beautiful fish!! just like most said... take it easy dont try to do everything, you will feel rushed and unable to really enjoy it!

After reading this thread i am thinking about doing the stingray or grabbing a bike on my next visits.

What is the bike track like? Is it extremely physically demanding... can an out of shape person ride in comfort?

I am not sure of the age, however, depending on when you go, you may want to watch the kids. We left our for about 2 hours, it was in the summer, when we got there they were so dehydrated they were miserable. We also had this occur up on deck with the kids. They actually apologized because those kids had been up on deck while we were docked for 2 hours and only one water break. My poor kids were lobster red and it wasn't sunburn it was from being hot. I was LIVID. I have no love for the kids clubs. Thank goodness mine are old enough to not need them.

Other than that, Castaway Cay is unbelievable, you will have a great time what ever you do.

Children under 3 stay in Flounders which is on the ship. They do not have an on-island program for the toddlers.

Scuttles is for the Club and Lab kids. Not sure if (like on the ship) you can accompany your little one to play in that area. My kids did not like Scuttles, they found it miserably hot.

To the OP wondering about etiquette- don't let that thread of strange occurrences freak you out. It follows normal beach etiquette. :thumbsup2

My five-year old DD did it. Enough said ;-).

Seriously speaking though, the bike rental was the best value for money for our family, given that I am a moderate swimmer, DS can swim and DD learned recently. DW cannot swim. We had two snorkel/getaway packages plus two bike rentals. It was the bike rentals that saved the day. We did not really use the snorkel/getaway packages much at all.

I commented that part of the bike track looked wide enough to be a runway. After we came back home and I looked at the photos I took, it appears to me that it indeed is - or was - a runway, based on the markings on the pavement/tarmac.

I suggest you get the bike rental. You will enjoy it.

Thank you. I meant to ask this as well but you went ahead and answered it for me! We probably will all stay together on CC. I thought DH and I could take a walk over to SB to see what it was like but would much prefer to enjoy the day together!
