Any thoughts on what post May 12 prices will look like?

I know this has been batted around, but what do you think is going to happen March 13? Increase direct price of Riviera/Alunai but also increase incentives? Increase direct prices in sold out resorts? Unfortunately, nothing ever goes down, so I guess the question is what do you think will go up, if anything at all.

Oh, and how long do you have to cancel a Disney direct purchase? I may throw some points on my Disney Visa card tomorrow and wait to see what happens. If something I want becomes a worse deal (I’m thinking CCV or RIV), I may just go through with the transaction. At least that way I’m covered no matter what happens.

You have 10 days to rescind.

P.S. I presume you mean May 12th.

Has anyone heard anything? I feel like the last $5 increase to CCV was pretty well known about before it happened.

I haven't, but I haven't really been paying attention. It's possible that they keep the base price the same, but with smaller incentives, thus effectively raising the price.

You might get more responses in the morning, but I'd try to have a plan early in the day so you're getting in before the deadline.

CCV and RIV are very different resorts. The location, points charts, room occupancy limits, and theming are all things to consider between the two. There's also the resale restrictions when buying at Riviera.

Good luck with your decision!

Thanks! I actually slightly prefer CCV, but RIV is a lot cheaper right now. I know the point chart and dues probably balance that out. However, last time we stayed at DVC, I felt like we spent too much time at the resorts. We stayed at BCV for 3 days, and Stormalong Bay was great. However, we really didn’t spend much time in the room. We spent time at the pools, restaurants, and one day at Epcot. It’s just my fiancé and I, so it’s hard for me to look away from RIV. I really want to go to the parks, and that skyliner to Epcot and Hollywood Studios can’t be beat. We already own at Poly for an MK monorail resort, so CCV seems kind of redundant from that aspect. I feel like RIV offers something different. Also, we stayed in one bedroom last time, which was great. However, if we are going to the parks, a deluxe studio (and even the tower occasionally) might be the way to go. I just don’t see us sitting in our room much.

If you choose to get RIV look at buying a fixed week for a popular time you never have to use it that way and can just use it as points. But i predict it will have more resale value due to the guaranteed reservation when you can only use your points there. They only sell so many so that helps too.

I have been trying to follow and figure out if I can find anything about price increases too. No one seems to know anything yet, but I will bug my guide today! He is probably so annoyed with me asking a million questions and not buying!

My guess is also that some of the current incentives will be lowered- granted I think riviera is only like a $6 pp incentive and I’m only looking at 150 points, so in the grand scheme of things, that wouldn’t be that large of an increase if I am just not ready yet.

I don’t think I’ll reach the incentive levels. I’m looking at adding 50-75 point chunks. Even a slight price increase isn’t going to impact the overall price at low point purchase levels. However, since I’m close to doing it anyhow, I’d like to make sure. The difference between CCV and RIV ($24/point) is enough where I can feel it even at 50-75 points. I know I could have purchased it much lower in the past, so I’m trying not to let RIV get away at $201 if that’s the path I decide to go.

Any news? I sent an email to my guide to see if he knows anything about price increases but no reply yet... my guess is that guides are being bombarded today.

Apparently, there are a bunch of DVC staff in training this week. I got a hold of a guide last week about Saratoga and he still hasn't got back to me. Said it might be a few days.

yeah... I 100% wish Id have known about this before we bought

I put in an email to my rep but haven’t heard back. I don’t know if anyone else has heard anything.

I feel we would've heard some rumor of a pricing increase by now if we were going to see that.
100%. The guides LOVE to tell when it’s about to be more expensive.

That said I do assume the new incentives will be slightly lower than these most recent ones, although perhaps with a short bonus as they have been doing.
