Any thoughts on DVC at the Yacht Club?

Seeing as there is now a strong possibilty of DVC coming to the Grand Floridian and many people believe that the Poly will be next...has anyone ever given thought to, or like to see, DVC at the Yacht Club? Is there even land available for such a thing?

Not trying to start a rumor, just thinking aloud. Thanks. :thumbsup2

I wouldn't think so considering there is already a DVC at the Beach Club, but hey, you never know.

I actually referred to a possible YC DVC in one of my first posts on the Disboards after I purchased BLT, knowing I eventually want to buy at an Epcot resort. I would personally love to see a DVC at YC and think it will happen IF there is enough space to build. I looked at the Google Earth images awhile back and found a potential area but it is tight (although there isn't much room for the possible new GF DVC either). I think Disney would try to do it if they can to be able to sell another Epcot resort. I would think if it is feasible, they would try after the GF DVC so they wouldn't have 3 new monorail resorts in a row. I can see them also thinking about the "River Country" site but then you likely have 3 DVC resorts - SSR, AKV and RC - that would be relatively slow sellers. I think either a YC or Poly DVC would sell like crazy.

I really like the BC feel more than the decor at YC but don't like the fact the contracts will expire long before my BLT contract. While there may be a BC contract extension at some point, I think DVC will do all they can to maximize the money coming in and that would mean a YC DVC at some point.

Stormalong Bay may need to be expanded if they ever built YCV. It can fill up during busy seasons.

We don't have confirmation of the GF DVC so it is hard to speculate about what will happen 5 years from now after GF is built and sold for a while. However, I think YC's lack of space problem is more serious than thought above. They actually have far more free space to build another BCV building over near the current one. One issue is whether Disney is ever going to build another premium level hotel. Waiting for development is a lot land contingent to Studios and it would be an ideal place for a combined Hotel/DVC that allowed walking to Studios.

I agree that SAB capacity would be a potential issue if YC had a DVC although I suppose it depends on the size of the property. I can't imagine it being that large just do to the constraints of the buildings currently there. If it ends up being fairly small, it likely wouldn't impact things a great deal.

I agree that there likely is more room to add on at BC than YC and Disney may consider that if they consider the properties to really be one entity. I think it may be kind of a mess having an "old" and "new" BC, though. Even if they offered contract extensions on the current property, not everyone would take it so you'd have contracts expiring at different times (like OKW) which I don't know if DVC would want. Then, you have people who would only want to stay in the old or new section, based on preference. Nothing would likely be a major issue but minor complicating factors. It still may be easier, though, to have one larger DVC property rather than 2 smaller ones. Frankly, I'd be happy with a YC or larger BC DVC but if either comes, it likely won't be for quite some time.

Actually, I already speculated that there might be something in the works for the area of BC/YC. It appears they are ROFR more contracts than they are selling and at much higher prices than even a moderate "market price" amongst any of the properties. I was thinking they might be expanding BCV's or maybe trying another extension at the more popular property. But, a YCV's could also make them consider having points at BCV available as well.

SAB does get very crowded, so there might be an issue, but it really depends on what they planned. If they took some YC rooms out of service to make DVC, the increase would not be very large. Another option could be that they expand YC resort completely to give them their own theme'd pool and just not permit them to go to SAB. But likely, they would just let SAB be crowded :rotfl2:

Nothing is off the table with Disney, they can redesign a lake to make room for a resort, so moving parking lots, or shifting stuff around is not a huge deal.
