Any Sushi onboard?

We were on the magic almost two years ago and I don't recall seeing any sushi, but we could have overlooked it a Palo.

I was on the magic last week and they did have Sushi at Topsiders during the seafood buffet at lunch one day. So look if there is a seafood day on the wonder.

Limited selection of rolls on one buffet lunch day. If you are a regular sushi eater, you will find it ... disappointing??.. is the word that comes to mind.

I've talked to cast members about this. Although there are rolls of various kinds, there are no raw fish rolls. Apparently Disney has a no raw fish policy (liablity reasons). In fact the "raw bar" at the fish place in disney marketplace has no raw fish, just cooked oysters, shrimp etc. There is one exception on Disney property that I am sure of: the California Grill. Also I wouldn't be surprised if Victoria and Alberts, Flying Fish and maybe Citricos have raw fish at times.

But, no, definitely no raw fish on the cruises. The "California Rolls" that they have on one of the menus has cooked crab, I believe, in it.

Returned from 1/8 cruise on the Magic. They did have some rolls on Topsider when they had the Seafood buffet.

We loved the cruise and the food but the asian food that were served on the ship was well below average. Reminded me of asian dishes they served back at college dining halls. What I did to get by was take the wasabi and soy sauce and dip the shrimp, prawns in it.

Ate the sushi at Topsiders one day for lunch buffet and also at Palo (some kind of CA roll or such). Rice for sushi rolls is usually sticky, but this was WAY sticky - almost pasty. It wasn't "bad", but not my choice for any other buffet. I'm spoiled on my sushi, though, after living in Okinawa for 3 years!

Totally OT, but I would thoroughly recommend the pita-station at the Topsiders lunch buffet - pick your own stuffings (sauteed marinated chicken or beef and other fillings) - and it was awesome!

There's a deep sea fishing excursion at CC so I assume that they have some bait - Isn't that the same thing a sushi? :smooth:

I love Disney, but I must say what I had at the Seafood buffet that was an excuse for shushi on the Magic was terrible!

:rolleyes1 And thats different than land based sushi  how  :smooth:

Oh wait what's "land based sushi" --- steak tar-tare :rotfl2: --> equally gross :crazy2:

Yeah sure joke away ....
I'm glad you dont like it... more for me! :fish:

All us Sushi Eaters know:
Once you've had "Good Sushi" there's no going back!

 I'll splurge before my trip!

I'm jumping on the "sushi sucked" bandwagon too. It wasn't at all good.

I don't know if it's DCL's attempt at sashimi or not, but there was some fish pieces although it was stuff like smoked salmon and other cooked bits of fish.

DCL's sushi was some of the worst I have ever had. If you like sushi you likely will not like the sushi aboard the ship.

Sushi is served at WDW at the California Grill, Wolfgang Pucks at DTD, the restaurants in Japan in Epcot (except I believe at the fast food place, but the lounge, grill and tempura bar all serve it), and Kimonos at the Swan. There may be other places, but those I know for sure.

I also have to say that the sushi on the ship is pretty bad, the rice was badly cooked, it actually was worst than the sushi at my local grocery store.... But there is so much food that it really is not an issue, sushi is not good, oh well let's try the shrimps....

Well, I'll take your advice and skip the Sushi... it looks like the Bait on the Fishing Excursion might be a better choice!

thanx
