We are looking for fundraising ideas for my son's soccer team. Does anyone have any suggestions on what works well? I'm game for just about anything so I'll take all the suggestions I can get (that way I can have a backup plan for all the parents who say "I couldn't possibly do THAT"). There's a method to my madness. Send those suggestions along please!

Sell candy bars is one idea. I think I am going to do this for our Girl Scout troop over the summer to raise money for the year. We did it before and made almost 1000 for our troop.

A fundraiser that usually works well with little overhead is to have a bake sale. Have all the soccer mom's donate baked goods and when you set up your table to sell them (perhaps in front of the grocery store or something) put out a donation jar instead of setting prices. We find people are more generous when it is by donation, some people even donate money and don't take any baked goods. Be sure to include some whole cakes or cheesecakes for sale so people can take them home for their family and with cookies make sure you have little baggies on hand so you can bad them 2-3 cookies per bag.

I have done something called a "Cakeless Bake Sale". You make up a cute little poem about how everyone is so busy and baking is so time consuming and setting up/running a bake sale is time consuming that instead just donate the amount of money you would have spent on a bake sale or making a cake, without all the fuss and work. People LOVED the idea!!!!!!!!!! Most people send $5-$10, and you know as well as I do that very few people spend $5-$10 at a bake sale. Usually people buy 2 cookie or a brownie or somethig. It really has been a hit in my area.

See if a local restaurant will donate a portion of their profits on a weekday (lunch & dinner) on a particular day. The point being, that you get people to go there on that day.
A great social fund-raiser was a potluck & "basket" auction. Each family from the team puts together a "basket" to auction off in a silent auction. The families who have season tix to a pro team donate a basket with the tix and maybe a T-shirt from that team. Go to a car wash and buy a couple of car wash coupons and put them in a bucket with a sponge and car wax. Put together a hot cocoa basket with mugs and a variety of packaged hot cocoas mixes.....etc. Yeah, it was the same families doing the donating & buying, but it had a two-fold purpose: bonding and raising funds. Our HS soccer coach also ran summer clinics for younger players, using a few of his HS players to help him, charging the kids. He paid the older players a little something and had some other costs, but he donated what was left to the team.

My son's soccer team has worked as car hops at Sonic, the team kept the tips for the day and a small percentage on one of the specials for the day. Each kid raised about $80.00 for the day. We have also sold flats of spring flowers. One of the parents hired the boys to work at their gym painting, putting together the gym floor and putting equipment together - my DS earned about $340.00 for his fees on that one alone. We have had team garage sales. The HS team has bake sales in the cafeteria and they earn about $150.00 for each sale (this option was almost eliminated based on a stupid contract by the food vendor). If your son's team is part of a club you could sell blankets etc. with the club logo or club colors.

I really like ideas where the kids do the work instead of the parents. It really makes them appreciate it more.

Candles Shower gels, hot coca mixes in those jars. could do baking mixes.

Here's a few ideas. I don't know what will work for you but here's a few we've done at school.

Balloon sales, like for today.
a movie night at school. The movie is free and they pay for the snacks.
Selling buttons, candy or popcorn

We went with a fundraising company and made $5000 profit in the fall.

Pizza Hut and Fudrucker's have fundraisers. All they have to do is show up and eat it. Very easy and your team will get 20% of the insidesales for the time period that you are all there.
