I need some suggestions on good walking shoes for our trip in February. I have heard that the Keen sandal was very good, but I am worried that it may rain or be too cold in February to wear sandals.

What other shoes do you consider great walking shoes. If I do not have alot of padding at the ball of my foot, It will hurt very badly.

Thanks in advance.

Go to a running shoe store or go on line
to a running shoe store. Explain what you
want to do, such as walk on hard pavement,
for 10 miles a day. Explain your foot nature such as,
do you pronate, how heavy are you, wide foot, that
kind of thing. Have them reccommend a shoe, then
go find that shoe at a local store, try it on.
If you like it buy it either on line or at that store.
I have found this is the very best way to go, 1.
you get a good fit 2. you get a running shoe that
is built to give you the most comfort and support
that you need 3. you will get a long lasting, best
quailty shoe.
All feet are different and they make a shoe for it.
If your serious try it, you will be Happy you did.

I like New Blanace 856, they are made for a wide foot,
a pronator and for a high mileage runner, they are
wonderful.

Hope this helps

Keens rock!!
But if you are looking for a supportive walking sneaker- I suggest you try either Avia or Saucony! both excellent and comfortable- I believe Saucony is the company founded by women and the shoes are specifically designed to fit a woman's foot(or is it Avia?) well anyway.... Those are both comfy and I have worn each through many a disney trip. I just prefer a sandal at any time though because if you get wet- either water rides or rain- those sneakers are going to be really heavy! Try out the Keens! They actually have quite a bit of coverage(and they even make one with webbing between the straps so you get more of a sneaker look. But with the Keens I can not stress enough how important it is to get them on tight.

Oh by the way, wet feet, your shoe will dry
but your sock won't.
I always carry a dry pair of socks and they
sure feel good when you need them and you
will know when you need them.
Have fun

Hi! Do you have a Walking Company store near you. I got a pair of Ecco sandals for our trip and they were heaven. They were about 120.00 but GOD were they worth it! Didn't have any problem getting wet or anything. They're going with me again in July.

Are these leather sandals? I always wear Tevas but would like to bring more than one pair.

Hi! They are actually very similar to Tevas. The sole seemed more cushy than the Tevas my kids have . I really like them. I need good shoes when walking alot, as I had surgery on my achilles tendon as a kid. After a while it acts up, but I had no pain with these sandals. They were great! :sunny:

Sorry...forgot to add that they are not leather. I think they come in leather, though.

and have for years. I have heard great things about tevan sandals but we are also going in February and I worry about it being too cold, etc.

In any event - I love the New Balance line and have for years. The best support for my feet (a person who suffered with plantar facilitis - stretched ligament in the arch of the foot from too much walking/running caused mine :cool1: ).

I've had great success with my New Balance 574 (WWW574WT). My foot is narrower in the heel, so I went to the NB website to learn the proper way to lace the shoe to avoid heel slipping. Three perfect WDW trips in the last year with no blisters or aching feet.

I have worn New Balance and thought they were just ok. I bought a pair of Saucony's a couple of weeks ago, and they are wonderful!

Thanks for all the great advice. I'm going shopping this week end! :bounce:

I love my Chaco sandals! They don't rub anywhere, can get soaking wet and still don't rub. I have found leather sandals rub me raw in minutes in the humidity. Keens are also very good and I think they have enclosed shoe styles also. Cindy

Every foot is different so you'll get lots of different suggestions. Then go and try them out for yourself!

I wore my sandals in December at WDW and my feet were fine. I used to wear walking sneakers and coolmax socks but that just didn't work for me.

Now I've had a least 5 blister free trips with my Teva Pretty Rugged leather sandals and I alternate with my Ecco Cosmo sandals.

Good thing about sandals is if it rains. They will dry fast.

Good luck finding the perfect walking shoe for you!

I went a got a pair of NAOT sandals for our trip to Europe this summer and they were amazing. They are pricey but worth every penny. They actually mold to your feet. We spent 5 days walking around London and then all around Europe on our 10 night cruise and every step they were great whether it was on cobblestone, sidewalks, dirt paths, up hill, or on bricks.

I just bought a pair of Ryka walking shoes. They are designed by a woman and are wider at the ball of the foot and narrower at the heel. They are sooo comfortable. Very soft on the inside. I bought them at Shoe Carnival and they were about $40.00.

All I can say is, DH experiences constant foot problems wearing his sneakers. Me? I traipse around all day in Birkenstocks and never have had so much as a blister.

And yep, I wore 'em in January!

Thanks! I'm sure with all this information I will find the right shoe for me. I know from experience how a day can be ruined by feet that hurt. I want to enjoy every moment of this long awaited trip.
