Any suggestions for a cooler weather, pre-baby vacation this summer?

I'm glad you mentioned Toronto! Did you travel in the summer by chance? I know NYC can get brutal in the summer heat so wasn't sure if Toronto was miserable, too.

We went toward the end of August. We live in NH and I found the weather was about the same - - hot, but not too humid. I want to say it was in the mid to high 70's during the day and in the 60's at night.

It will be hot and humid here, and the mosquitoes and ticks will be out in full force, so I wouldn't suggest the backwoods of the Midwest ;).

How about the Minneapolis/St Paul, though? Metropolitan, but both indoor and outdoor activities, and booming area.

Boulder, CO would be nice, too, if you are allowed to do elevation.

I live in Toronto. It gets over 100° with the humidity in the summer, you must have hit a cold spell. So hot in the summer. Definitely not a “cooler weather” destination.

The Cities aren't going to be any cooler than the UP. :)

No, but at least you have cultural and historical things to do inside (not to mention shopping, which we REALLY don't have up here :)....)

San Francisco would be a wonderful choice. It is expensive, but on par with other major cities for traveling. The "expensive" moniker comes from living there, which is quite spendy. But otherwise, it's ok. We used to live there. And, go back now for vacation from time to time. There are wonderful airbnb places now which can be reasonable, and eating in the neighborhoods (as opposed to the tourist areas) can be incredibly reasonable. We last stayed in the Avenues, and ate dim sum at a local place until we nearly burst. Mixed it with some beers. Left with numerous containers of "left overs" and still spent less than $80 for 4. I don't think that's "expensive" in the least. And, the weather will definitely be cool. The biggest tourist complaint is that it is too cold. LOL. Endless things to see and do.

We used to live out in the Sunset District, in "the Avenues" (8th and Judah). San Francisco will definitely be cool; when we moved there (July 1991) I had to buy a jacket because all mine were still packed up in storage at my FIL's in CO! I was pregnant throughout the summer in SanFrancisco and the weather was only hot/uncomfortable 2 days! And please don't think Maine is "cool" in the summer. South of Portland, the weather is very similar to Boston's, and even up here (Bangor area) we get several weeks of weather in the upper 80's and higher, usually in August. Definitely not comfortable! I have a friend here who was pregnant at the same time I was in San Francisco, and lemme tell you, I was SO GLAD I was in CA, not ME!
