Has anyone had sucess switching out of a RunDisney 1/2 marathon and into the 10k instead. I basically bit off more than I can chew and need to see if this is possible. I received a generic response from Run Disney about this, but the pdf form they sent me said based on availability, but their email just said it wa spossible before Nov 1. So I'm not sure what to believe, especially since the email said I would just need to pay a $35 processing fee, but the form said I neded to register for the new event and then aply for a refund :confused3 Unfortunately the 10k is sold out, so am I out of luck?

Thank you.

Thank you.

When is your run? You might be surprised how much you can accomplish between now and then. Even if you can't get into the 10k keep training for the half! I just finished my first half at the Disneyland Half marathon and I've only been running since April... I took some walk breaks, and I was nowhere near the fastest person but still had a lot of fun!

It's the Tinkerbell in January. I'm a slower runner and had hoped to have made progress by this fall, but an injury delayed my progress and I'm no where near where I need to be time wise. Still under 15 minutes per mile but feel strongly hat I'd be swept :(

I would definitely call.

But gosh if I were under 15 at this point and still had Sept, Oct, Nov, and Dec to train, I wouldn't be so worried. Just me, though.

It's more about being able to keep the endurance going. Plus come November we have ice and snow on the ground. Treadmills and I aren't the best of friends, as I prefer to be outside.

Another vote for "you might be surprised." I am NOT a runner. Started training (having only a very mild base) last year in Sept for the WDW half in January. We were not terribly faithful in our training, either, but still finished alive. Winters have been more mild, recently, with later starts - which helps a lot.

Remember endurance running is a mental game. In large part, if you THINK you can do it, you can!

I wouldn't worry about it either. I am a RD Walker and I walked my first half Jan 2012 and I kept a 15 min mile pace. After getting the race results there were still over 3000 participants behind me that were shown to "finish" and some had 22 min mile paces and I was worried about my time?!? :)

Going for my 3rd Half in Feb at PHM looking forward to that. Although I am now into 1 min jog and 2 min walk. Not looking to go any faster to conserve my knees from injury. I would be happy with 13.5 - 14 min mile pace for my goal :thumbsup2

Thanks guys, you're making me feel better :) I'm just nervous about maintaining the 15 min/mile pace as the event progresses. I do not want to be picked up by the sweepers!!!!!

If you haven't already, make sure you have a race submitted for proof of time. No matter what the time is, simply having one will put you in a corral ahead of those who didn't submit anything - which buys you more time against the sweep. Though I agree that at a 15 min/mile and several months to build endurance, I think you'll be safe from the sweep regardless. :)
