I've done, and am doing the
DDP starting saturday. I'm a big fan of it. It's nice to have a good meal and not have to worry about price and just make up your mind on what sounds good.
As for the amount of food... Just eat what you would normally eat. Yes, it's vacation and you'll eat more, but no need to stuff yourself. I guess you could bring baggies and save things. Actually, last time I was at Le Cellier, the manager came over to me and asked how my food was. I said I really enjoyed it and loved the pretzel bread. She started talking and asked if I had the cheese soup with it. I said I hadn't tried it. She excused herself and quickly came back with a cup of the soup and more pretzel bread and watched as I tried it. I told her it was very good. She packaged up a whole bunch of pretzel bread and soup for me to take back to the hotel. She also printed up the recipe for the soup and gave it to me. (a little pixie dust I guess)
I would imagine you could simply ask the restaurants to bag up your meal (or what's left of it) for you to take with you. Just because you're given more food then you can eat, doesn't mean you have to try and eat it all. ;-)
It's a great value (if you enjoy a sit down dinner and want to take the time to do experience it). There's nothing more relaxing at the end of your day then to sit down and have a great meal.
I whole-heartedly recommend the plan!
