I lived in Texas and Florida and both were humid and hot, but then again, Montana and Michigan and Ohio are hot and humid too. Even Vegas with it's 'dry' heat is getting more humid all the time. It is the older people and children who are affected the most no matter where they live. If you live in the South, you almost NEVER see the elderly outside during the summer. It's the newbies to the local that are affected, the homeless and the stupid.
Consider how many 'macho' men think slamming down a 12 pack of beer on the golf course in a 90/90 situation poses no danger? or sitting in the driveway staring at a car that they are 'working' on killing a case in 100 degree heat. This isn't just men either. Parents leaving children and animals in a hot car for 'a few minutes" or uncovered in the sun. When I moved to Florida I stopped beering it up on the golf course or even at the pool. Disney World was never pleasant during the summer. I would golf early, hit the pool and then hit the parks in the evening. I would lose 8-10 pounds on the golf course and feel obligated to put it back on at the Beirgarten.
Stay in the shade, drink tons of water, use fans, do indoor activities (yes, that too) go to a matinee movie and sneak into several so ou can stay all day, go to the pool but wear plenty of sunscreen, wear a hat!
Just my 3 cents
