WDW great pics! You guys are such an adorable couple you look great together:)

Not to change the topic but ladies.. am I alone on this? I was browsing a singles site and it's astounding how many men post photos of their car. I know as the movies go a man's car can attract women BUT... how true IS this?? How many of you actually give a pooh: what kind of car a man drives.. how many of you have been picked up for a date in a "really nice" or "hot" car and seriously been impressed?

Maybe I'm missing something.. enlighten me please? Because I don't care if I'm picked up in a crusty old car as long as it's clean inside... it impresses me no more or less than if I were picked up in a porsche.

Thank you, Cheshire Figment! I looked on the website and there seem to be some Mensa groups not too far away - I guess I need to go and write the test to qualify though as I've been out of school a long time!

I did sign up for DisMates and tried to join in the chat one night, but I'm not very used to the speed of the chat discussion and I quickly felt kind of overwhelmed. I guess I need to try again!

Teresa...come and join us in chat again....sometimes it pretty quick, and the rest of time is pretty normal speed...if you miss something you can always PM someone to pick up the thread of the chat.

I think some guys view cars as a substitute (or to compensate for?) something else...

I'm wondering if some of the wonderful Disney prince-type guys out there could give us Disney princesses a hint. Where do you go to meet single women?

Actually, I'd like to narrow that down a bit - I'm 50, so I'm thinking mostly about the more mature Disney princes...

Here's my situation - I work mostly from home, and my field is primarily women, so I have few opportunities to meet men through work. I find that the things I am interested in during what little free time I have tend to attract mostly women as well (book clubs, art classes, horseback riding, etc.). I'd really like to meet some more men in the hopes of finding someone to share my life, but I don't know where to start.

Any of you guys want to share? Where could I find guys like you?

Teresa
My favorite spot is the bookstore. I'm talking the Barnes & Noble and Borders style ones that even have a coffee shop in them. It's almost the perfect spot to meet someone. Try this. Walk around the store till you find someone you'd like to meet (good looking, no ring, etc.). Look at what the guy is reading/looking at, then ask him about it. He's probably a fan of whatever he's reading/looking at or is trying to find out about it. Either way if he's interested in you he'll be willing to discuss it with you. If he's not interested just move on. If you are chatting for a few minutes you may want to ask if he wants to join you for some coffee/tea/me(jk). At that point I'd rather just get out of there before I say something dumb or spill coffee on them. So I'll just ask for an email address (easier than phone numbers), and once I get the email I'll ask for a phone number just in case I have trouble with the email ;) .

I really don't care too much about cars so I may not understand it myself (I drive a 2003 Mercury Sable-might as well be a station wagon  ).
Maybe the guys are just really proud of their car, and want to show it off. :confused3

Well, I think it's the modern equivalant to male birds displaying their plumage...some deep old instinctual behaviors that don't translate well into the modern world. (You know, like storing up fat for the winter...or I the only one who has to fight that particular tendency? popcorn:: ) This is what they have that they can display in hopes to attract female attention. It is difficult to get a good photograph of a winning personality, good sense of humor, ability to show affection, you know, all those things most of the women *I* know are really interested in. You're right though...they'd probably do better to crop the car out and show us a bit more of their faces. :3dglasses

Another possibility...maybe the car pictures are what they *have.* New shiny car...photo op? I know I don't have very many pictures of me....I basically avoid cameras whenever possible.

Guys have a warped idea in their minds that women will want them more if they have money.

Bookstores! Brilliant idea - I love bookstores (and books). And I'll just avoid those creepy-looking guys who hang out around the "True Crime" section...

I think you folks are reading too much into the car thing. It's just the ultimate TOY and men like TOYS. When I rented a sweet convertible I wanted my picture taken with it, not because I thought it would impress but because it's a sweet *** convertible. Most guys also like huge screen tv's and great stereos. It's not about over compensating it's just about enjoying the things you enjoy in life. And if you own something you're proud of why wouldn't you want to be photographed with it.

I enjoy the psycho-analysis though. It's entertaining. :)

I have no idea, but just a theory.

Truthfully, I think manytimes guys are so insecure about their true self that they use other things to try and win someone over - a fancy car, gifts, etc.

Most people like nice things, but choosing a mate over what they have and not who they are is always a mistake. Thakfully, I thnk most people here "get" that.

OK, so I'm wondering...would psycho-analysis be analysis *by* a psycho, or analysis *of* a psycho?

Really, I am hoping to avoid psychos entirely if/when the next relationship-opportunity comes along.

Not sure I agree with you on this one SW.

If a guy drives a 1995 Ford Topaz he isn't going to post the picture of it on a singles board. Even if it was the only pic he had. The issue isn't that a guy had his pic taken with it...the issue is they choose that particular picture to post. Like you can bet if the guys losing his hair the "only" pic he happens to have is the one where he's wearing a hat!!

I gotta agree with CG. I HATE being in photos and you'd be hard pressed to find a photo of me. Nevermind a photo of me alone without some sort of item or prop in the background.

Case in point....SW were you wearing a hat in the photo you posted?? I don't recall.

I was in freakin' Florida sun......of course I was wearing a hat. I have a total of 2 photos on my computer and both include a hat. Guess I could have photo shopped it out to avoid any confusions.
