Hey there! Anyone heard anything about the Mission Space Pavillion that's supposed to open "spring 2003"......???

They're still working on it. Officially, the projected opening has been no more specific than "2003." It should open in the summer.

Here's a link that is interesting:

http://missionspace.wdwmagic.com/

According to this they started testing the ride with randomly selected visitors the week of 2/15. I was there then and didn't get selected and didn't even see any activity.

When I got I'm going to approach any CM I see in the vicinity and ask/beg to test out the ride. We'll see what happens....

The reason you didn't see any activity is simple: You weren't supposed to see any activity.
Also, much like all other random magic surprises, the only 100% effective way to NOT get picked is to ask. If you ask, they will either chuckle or say "I'm sorry, I don't know anything about that. Mission:Space will open later this year."

Safari Steve...........thanks for that info for getting a sneak preview. We're going in May and it's our last Disney trip for at least 5yrs. Can you provide any helpful hints on how we COULD get picked?? Any place I should stand?? LOL I know, I'm reaching here! ;) At least it helps to know what not to do. :)

Nope, sorry.
Random is random, and they may not even be testing when you're there. There is no way to increase your odds. Enjoy what is there and don't squander your precious vacation moments on a goose chase.
Travel safely!

Darn it... not like it matters for me though since i wont be down there until fall :(

Just a comment and question about the link above to the pics. A couple of weeks ago there was this same link, but it had actual pictures of the INSIDE of the ride with the seats and console, etc. Now those are gone with no mention of them ever being there.

Why were they pulled? Anyone know anything about this? I wanted to show my friend and my DH, but when I went back the pics were gone.

They still had the "artists" version of the cueing area, but this was a "real" picture of the inside of the ride.

Thanks,
Angie

It was probably a legal issue. Generally, photos are not allowed in such areas, and a precondition of guests being allowed to see new things before they happen is their agreement to not take pictures. (just a guess)

Happy Birthday Cat- Thanks for posting the link. I just checked it out. It's exciting to see the progress. I was really hoping it would be totally up and running by our trip (end of Sept-Oct). Looks like it will be!!! I'm so looking forward to it!

As a crazy dad of four I am hoping it will be running by our New Year's trip 2004. I don't want another Test Track opening spead over two years. But by the way things sound, it looks much better than that did.

Ok, I got when it's supposed to open and stuff, but what is the ride supposed to be like?

ok let me get this straight the ride isn't open yet but they may actually ask some guest to ride it? we are going to be there April 6th-11th. Would love to ride it! It doesn't sound like something DH will be able to do! LOL! BUt I am up for it but I never get asked to try or do anything special....time to boo hoo now!

I heard that the exit area is "easy to clean" which makes me think it's a motion simulator ride like Body Wars or Star Tours (both of which make me queasy).

Darn.

I have an idea of how to get choosen. Wear a NASA or space related tee shirt and see if you get picked. Who knows, if someone see that you are into space exploration maybe.... just maybe they might pick you! Just an idea...........

LoL! Sorry, but I like them! But I learned my lesson last year: Don't eat before riding them!
