Any salaried posters actually work 8-5

I have to say I don't know anyone who is salaried who actually is able to pull off 8-5. I usually end up working 7-5 or 5:30. I get so much junk thrown to me so the company doesn't have to pay overtime to the hourly folks I have problems getting it all done. Yes I know I should be working instead of DIS'ing but I've been at it since 6:45 this morning without a break and have to stop and unwind.

I usually pull off 7 to 5 too, and don't get paid overtime either. But I'm paid well, so I really cannot complain. Most of what I do is actually do work for an hour, let things react, and then go back and analyze, so I get a lot of small breaks in the day.

My DH is salaried. He goes in around 8am and gets home around 7pm. If he gets home by 6pm then he is on the computer for another couple hours later that night. He hasn't worked a 40 hour week in years.

DH usually works from 7:30-6:30 Sometimes longer.
DS on the other hand really lucked out with his job 7:30-5 (every other Friday off)...and gets overtime!!

Generally, I work 8:30 to 5:00 with an hour lunch. But there are times when I need to come in earlier and work later to get my job done. I don't mind it since my usual hours are so great, plus my boss is very lenient about letting us leave early for personal business. My work is very cyclical, it's very feast or famine.

My husband is a federal employee, and he always works 8:30-5, even though he is salaried. "The Man" is serious about fair work hours, at least in his agency.

I start a new job next week, and they swear they keep to 8 hour days, including an hour for lunch. We'll see if that really works out to be the case, but I have high hopes.

DH is salaried and works from around 8 a.m. to 6:00-6:30. Including the driving time, he's gone from 7 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Then he'll spend an hour or two each night doing work, plus several hours on the weekend.

I think to a certain extent that shouldn't be legal. Salaried employees can be so taken advantage of.

DH currently works 55-60 hour weeks every week. On his recent deployment he worked 6a.m.-10:30p.m. (with an hour for lunch and sometimes dinner) 7 days a week, with only 2 or 3 days off per month. Yikes.

Some days I can, some days not so much. I typically work 7:30-5:00, but then there's days like last week where it turns into 7-7, with 1/2 a day on Sunday. On average, I probably work 50-55 hours a week, a few of those at home. Overall, it's not too bad. Heck, DW averages 60+ hours on a good week, 90-100 during busy season.

I'm salaried, work hours are 8-5 with 1hr lunch.

Some days I can get out at 5pm, some days I can't. Then there are days where I'll work from home at night or on the weekends so I can catch up on the work. It all evens out in the end because some days I get off work early to go to the movies, or for doctor appts or school functions.

I am salaried plus overtime. I work 9-5, but usually stay a longer only because my fiance and I carpool together for work and have the same hours. Luckily though my company is very laid back and I have plenty of time for Dis-ing

My hours are 8- 3 (no lunch).Once I had my 2 DD working long hours were not important to me anymore.
I gave up a "career" and the money to be little "peon" now.
But it's worth it. We can get by just fine on our salaries. Sure, we don't live the expensive or best areas, it's just a working class community with minivans.

My official hours are 8-5, and I generally stick to those hours. For years I used to be a 60-70 hours a week type of person. What I found over the years is that success in business is more about working smarter than longer hours. Furthermore I've found things like delegating, prioritizing, finishing a task rather than shuffling it around...all these things make a difference.

Depending on one's occupation, time of year, etc. I understand some of us have no choice but to put in a lot of hours. I can also tell you that many, many people out there are logging more hours than they need to. They could be hiding from home life, trying to impress the company, or they're jsut not organized.

I'm a salaried payroll accountant and my "normal" work hours are 7:30-4:00. During month end and quarter end weeks I might work a few extra hours but I think I'm lucky to be able to pull the hours that I do.

I don't get paid OT but we get comp time too so if I work extra hours, I can use them for time off at a later date. Nice option.

I work 9-5 Monday thru Friday. I got my dream job hours. I don't have to stay late and I don't bring work home with me. I don't have a job that has deadlines so I don't need to stay late to get them done, there is always tomorrow.

I don't take a lunch hour but I guess if I came in earlier I could but I like being able to take my oldest to school and have some time with my youngest before I head to work.

I use to work 7-5 plus 7-11 on Saturdays so 9-5 is a dream to me.

I'm salaried, and I usually work 40 to 42 hours per week. I'm also lucky enough to have the option of working flexible days. I can choose to work 10 hours 1 day, and 6 hours the next. Our "core" hours are 9 to 4, when everyone should be in the office except for lunch breaks (again, very flexible, people take lunch any time between 11 and 2). I often choose to work longer hours Monday through Thursdays, and leave at noon or so on Fridays.

Of course we have weeks where we can work 50 hours or more. Just depends on the deadlines and current projects. But that's rare for me, maybe 4 or 5 weeks of the year. I sometimes work from home in the evenings when I need to catch up, but that's usually my fault (like because right now, I'm dis-ing!).

I also carry a pager, but I'm hardly ever paged.

My official schedule is 6:30a - 3:30p. It's great, I love it. I'm home with the kids in the afternoon (DH is responsible for them before school).

Occassionally (once or twice a month) I have to work into the evening or from home on the weekends. But, that's OK...small price to pay for the great schedule I have.

I work 8-5 with an hour for lunch. My workplace is very lenient taking time for personal reasons, and I leave at 4:30 a couple of times a week. In January I often have to put in extra time for our year end accounting audit, otherwise, I can't remember the last time I was here after 5:00.

I'm salaried, but they're real good about "comping" us for our time. I only work a 37.5 hour week (that's without the lunches) and I never ever stay over my shift. I do occassionally come early, but then I'll leave early. Or when I work a Saturday, I'll get Friday off. We used to get overtime for Sundays, but professional staff (librarians with degrees) don't anymore. So when I work a Sunday for 4 hours, I get a whole workday off during the week. I still liked the money better, though!

I work 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as a pharmacist, Monday thru Friday only. We aren't allowed on the hospital grounds until 20 minutes before our shift starts and we must leave by 20 minutes after our shift.

It's wonderful and so much better than the 12 hour days I was putting in for CVS!!
