The smells in the car tend to change every so often on the way down to Florida from New Jersey. We stop at least once in every state to freshen up and eat while we're on the road. Then we eat on the road and that creates smells and then my DD plays with her kiddy perfumes and play doe, spills and when I get back into the car after a smoke (yes, it's a bad habit)...etc. And my husband, has a pail of gas in the back that I smell faintly....the list goes on.

Can anyone recommend a spray other than Febreeze or Lysol (something without a loud or very sweet smell) to spray the car each time we get out.

I know Yankee candle has those air freshner things that you hang from the rear view mirror. Maybe you can use one of those!

I recently purchased some home fragance spray from Bath and Body Works in the Fresh Linen scent and I use it in my car. Everyone that gets in my car says it smells so clean and new.

When I spray it in my home it lasts up to 4 hours with only two or three squirts....I bought 7 different fragances...can't help it was a clearence...stock up

I like Coconut Lime Verbena for my house...it seem like a tropical paradise...a girl has got to dream!!

I received a Bath & Body Works car fragrance kit for Christmas this year...it plugs into your lighter in the car. There are several scents & you can control the strength.

OK, I'm going to check Bath and Body! We need something that can keep the air fresh and to keep me from getting car sick. Just having a hard time finding something light and that I can stand for 15 hours. I don't like those things that hang from the rear mirror either. Thank you all!

Try Oust. It doesn't have a smell, it just gets rid of all odors. We drive around alot. When ever we stop to eat or whatever, I open all the windows and spray Oust. In a few minutes all the smells are gone without leaving anytype of fragrance in the air.

Glade has a spray called Nutra air. I use it in the motocross camper. (the guys get pretty funky after racing) It workd very well and isnt a stron scent.

Sharper image also has an ionic air cleaner for your car that plugs in to your cigarette lighter. It's nice because there is no perfume or cover odor-just filters the air in the car.

A pail of gas - did I read something wrong - gasoline??? That could be very dangerous and in fact may be illegal in some states.

Not a pail...it's one of those red containers with the black and yellow top that holds about 2 gallons of back up gas. Sorry I wasn't clear.

I really like the Oust, I am planning on using it for our trip in August in our Motor Home.

Please reconsider carrying the gas. The fumes are dangerous, not just noxious and the risk of an explosion during a light collision should be considered. If you have AAA, they'll bring 2 gallons of gas for free if you run out.

DITTO what pilgrimage said about having a gas can in the car. One of the worse things to have in the car is a gas can, no matter how small the amount of gas is in there. AAA is the way to go when traveling by car. They help out in every type of situation, even filling your tank with gas enough to get you to a gas station.

It's not me...it's DH and his truck. We've been carrying it around for years and years...he's not going to stop now. :D
