Hiya Gang,

I am considering splurging for a massage on my trip in January. The prices are higher than most any I have ever seen, but if it's a good massage I'm willing to go for it.

There's another thread running about massages at OKW/Saratoga Springs. Anyone ever have a massage at BWV? If so would you mind telling me what you thought of it? Any recommendations as to who to ask for/avoid? Any and all feedback would be appreciated!

I haven't had a massage by I did buy one for my DSIL. The difference between doing it at BWV or VWL is it is just in the gym, nothing like at GF or SS. The therapists seem to travel to whichever DVC needs them at that specific time of the day. My DSIL thought it was nice but nothing amzing. Personally, I wasn't that impressed when I did GF a few trips ago.

I would recommend spending on a great tour or amazing meal you might not otherwise do. You can get a massage anywhere.

JMHO as one solo traveling mom to another.

Thanks for the advice Sandy. Up until now I never got a massage at WDW for the exact reasons you mentioned. I was thinking of indulging myself this next solo trip because I'm saving a bundle not having to pay for my kids airfare, food, etc.

I actually did take a look at the tours, and I've been on all the ones that interest me. I was trying to think of something different this trip, something I'd probably not do if my kids were in tow. I LOVE a good massage. But from all I've read on these boards regarding massages I'm leaning towards foregoing one at WDW. I don't need to spend $90 for a so-so massage when I can get a great one a few blocks from my house for $60. I'd pay the extra bucks if it was just a matter of the money, but if the quality is poor why bother.

I don't mind the gym aspect, but I need someone with really strong hands. If anyone else out there experienced a BWV massage please let me know what you thought.

Oh, good luck in that marathon Sandy!

My sister and I each had a massage at BWV last October (2003). I had Melinda (had to go and check my notes - unfortunately I did not write down who my sister had).

I found it very enjoyable. Melinda was good - she could have been a little firmer. The woman who did my sister's was very firm. We both got the DVC 20% discount (do they still do that?). With the discount it made it cheaper than getting one up here on Cape Cod.

I would definately recommend having one!

The online DVC site says it's 20% at SSR and 10% at the other spas.

Thanks a lot for the report Lexxiefern, it seems like there may yet be hope for a good WDW massage! I'm impressed at your notes, I always vow to make better trip notes and then usually laze out in the end. Darn, I wish I knew the name of the woman who your sister had. Even if you did know there's no guarantee the same person would still be there, but it would have been worth a shot.

I will ask her tomorrow, but I don't think she will remember. She doesn't take notes:eek: I do remember that she was called over from VWL though and she was in her 40's I'd guess with short dark hair.

Maybe if you just ask for extra firm?

I'll certainly do that if no one has a recommendation.

Being note-impaired myself I totally understand if your sister has no clue whatsoever regarding this, LOL.
