I just did my ADR's for my upcoming trip in January and was curious if anyone had recently been to Bull and Bear at the Waldorf.

If not recently, what would you recommend for drinks/entrees?

Thanks

We ate there about a month ago and have reservations for next week as well. The service and food are just as good as before.

Our favorite menu items there are the Pasta Explosion for an appetizer. Either the Corn Soup or Lobster Bisque for soup. For the main course my wife and I usually get the chateaubrand for two, which comes with pave potato. We usually order either the mac n cheese or creamed corn as a side. For dessert, its either the beignets or creme brûlée.

Awesome, thanks for the recommendations. Let me know how it is next week. Enjoy!

The caesar salad is very good (made for you tableside)
Although I don't eat salad I'm usually with people who do. We've watched them make the salad and its quite a process. They are happy to explain just what they are doing if you ask. Also, if you have a youngster they will often let them "help" make it.

The Iberico porkchop and the fried chicken are both very good, the gravy that comes with the chicken is ridiculously good. I would not recommend the tuna appetizer but the other appetizers are great. Enjoy the amazing service!

Have not been recently but echoing recommendations for the corn soup (I literally dream about this soup!) and the fried chicken. We haven't had a bad dish there and the service is extraordinary. Enjoy!!

Just to update, my wife and I ate there on Tuesday, December 8th. We were celebrating a special event and this is our go to place for important meals.

Service, food, and beverage service was all up to the usual standards. The tables remain spaced out and the staff all wear masks. Also, the usual iPad based menu has been replaced by paper. An excellent evening.

Just ate there on 12/18 and it was fabulous. Tables were spaced out and staff wore masks. Food was amazing...loved the table side Cesar and lobster bisque. I had the wagyu sirloin and my dh had the delmonico ribeye...we both said they were the best steaks we ever had. Enjoy!

We’ll be at WBC in early March, so I’d love to try some new places. What’s the dress code like at Bull & Bear? Are park clothes okay, or business casual, or dressier than that?

In general you'll see something better than park clothes. Not that you won't see park clothes, but most people are business casual or dressier.

Thanks - that's what I thought. I'm hoping to try a number of new restaurants this trip, so hopefully I can talk DH into bringing a nice shirt and slacks, and I'll bring a nice top and slacks in addition to our normal jeans/shorts/capris and t-shirts!

hopefully I can talk DH into bringing a nice shirt and slacks,
Good luck! My wife and I are regularly amused by how many couples apparently haven't talked about how they were going to dress. We see the women in very nice outfits while the husband is more about "this is my clean t-shirt". :chat:

Just another update. Being local, my wife and I like to eat at B&B about once a month. Since my last post in December we've eaten there 3 three times with another scheduled for a couple of weeks from now.

We've been very happy with our experiences at B&B since they reopened. They are very careful with social distancing and precautions (masks, etc) and none of that has affected the quality of the food and service.

Our usual practice is to go over to the Waldorf-Astoria about 45 minutes before our reservation time and have an adult beverage in the Peacock lounge first. The lounge is nice - a great place to people watch. (did somebody say judge?) ;) Anyway, the lounge is operating normally except that there is not a electronic, or even paper, menu. If you're looking for something specific they will be happy to make it for you. My only quibble is that I'm a single-malt scotch drinker and without a list of scotches (and their price) its difficult to make a choice. The servers will encourage you to go up to the bar and look at the various options. There are many choices, but the failing is that you don't know what the price is for your selection.

Beyond that though I'd still say that the experience in the restaurant itself is great. We have almost a standard order (which our favorite server knows) of Pasta Explosion, Corn Soup, Chateau Briand for two, along with side orders of creamed corn and mac'n cheese. Dessert is usually either the beignets or creme brullee. There is also a desert that is unique to the restaurant - they make a strawberry ice-cream at your table. Its an interesting process involving dry-ice and fresh strawberries. Fun to watch.

If you are new and there is no menu, that sounds really difficult when it comes to ordering!

I probably should have been clearer. There is a menu in the restaurant. Its only the Peacock Lounge that doesn't have a menu.

Do you have any photos of the food? What is the pasta explosion?

Sorry, no pictures of the food. Pasta explosion is an appetizer that is a little "pursette" of pasta filled with something (cheese & ?) and sprinkled with a very tasty sauce and Parmesan. One small bite that you put in your mouth and its an explosion of flavor.
