Any recent dining experience at Bull and Bear?

You will be happy to know that we have a reservation for Bull and Bear on Nov 7th for dinner. I had checked open table and there wasnt any availability. Ended up calling the restaurant and the hostess was able to find us a table. We are pretty excited for this meal.

Review?? How was it! Hope you had a wonderful meal!

I booked weeks ago for my son’s birthday but the only table I could get was at 21.30. Even by European standards that is late! I keep checking OT but nothing earlier has appeared. I wonder if they keep some tables back for hotel guests.
On some of the clogs, Holy moly, Trackers and WDW couple the service looks very theatrical and food seems to sit around while the waiters launch their spiel. Is it really like that?
You may have better luck calling. Keep in mind that they don't open until 6 pm so call a bit after that, say 6:15 because they will be busy seating guests until then.

To the second part of your post, no, its not a huge theatrical event. The food is served with a nice presentation but its pretty simple. All your plates will hit the table at the same time, but otherwise that's it.

We ate at B & B twice during our recent trip the first week of November.

First evening we both had the Caesar Salad (they use white anchovies) loved it...easily the best salad we've had in a very long time....followed this with the Fried Chicken with a side of creamed corn. We split the entree...it was fabulous. Chicken is cooked perfectly, juicy but crispy with wonderful flavor, it was plenty for two. The mashed potatoes and gravy perfect as well.

The second night we met family there and had the Dover Sole (decadent and rich), the Steak Frites (omg only ate 1/2 but great flavor again) and Faroe Island Salmon. Service was top notch and very friendly. We had the Lemon for dessert, it was plenty split 4 ways. Great presentation.

I believe the Fried Chicken will always be my favorite meal.

I would eat here every night...compared to the other eateries especially now....none compare.

I will add that our overall dining at WDW was disappointing. Meals were mediocre and OVER priced. Service was lacking.

My advice would be to find the least expensive places to eat daily (or hit Publix for bread and peanut butter) and save up for as many nights as you can at B & B.

The only other acceptable meal was at the Boathouse, the calamari was good. We ate many places....none of them worth half of what we paid....I mean $18 for a hamburger with potato chips....?

Sorry for off topic...just surprised at how much the food quality has fallen...and the prices have risen.

Have a safe trip

I've seen the Trackers' review. The stay was comped, and it is very evident that the meal was a marketing presentation for the B&B.

I have a Dec 23 reservation. (Obtained completely by luck via happening to check Opentable at exactly the right time. Restaurant has been sold out Xmas week for months.) I am REALLLLLLY looking forward to trying B&B.

That’s reassuring. I have a reservation for 18 December at 21.30, but I will telephone to try and make it earlier.

Back at my desk after some crazy travel issues.

BULL AND BEAR was fantastic.

We arrived at 7pm for our 7:30pm reservation and had a drink in the Peacock Lounge. The bartenders were great and very friendly.

Walked over and was seated at 7:25 for our reservation. Greeted by the multiple servers and staff as we sat down. We ordered drinks and then decided on starters and such after talking to the server. We ordered the Caesar salad and fried chicken to start. Both were amazing, and will agree with the above statements of the fried chicken being the best I have ever had.

We ordered our mains next, I ordered the short rib and my girlfriend had the veal oscar. Both were incredibly tender and flavorful. We each had a glass of wine with our meal. Great selections and the staff offered recommendations for each dish. We asked for the lemon, but it was sold out before we ordered dessert, so we settled for the creme brulee.

My only complaint was during the time between the chicken and main we were never offered another drink. Outside of that small detail it was one of the best meals either of has had. We left around 10pm.

We just ate there last night. We were a table of 8 celebrating 4 birthdays and 2 anniversaries. A wonderful meal all around.

Well, I think you should share more details than that. 😉
Glad to hear that you had a wonderful celebration.

Hmmm... Of the party of 8, two were first timers to B&B. Well I suppose I could mention what we all had....
We began the evening in the Peacock Ally having a beverage. I went with McCallum scotch, wife with pinot Grigio, others showed up later and ordered different bard drinks but I didn't catch them all.
We were seated promptly at 6. Well, relatively promptly. There were about 4 parties in front of us in line when the doors opened. No problem there. So once seated at a round table we greeted our waiter and several staff that we've come to know over the course of many visits. On to the meal....

Of course there is the amuse bouche to start with. I don't really recall what it was other than delicious. ;)
We ordered Pasta Explosion for everybody. This is truly an amazing dish. Little pursettes of pasta filled with bursting goodness. You put it in your mouth, bite into it and it does feel like a flavor explosion.

Two couples split the lobster bisque (1 for each couple), one couple split the corn soup. Two others had a wedge salad. I love both of these soups and its hard to decide between them. Wife & I went with the lobster bisque on this occasion.

The actual dinner was a wide variety of the menu items. My wife and I had our usual chateaubriand for two, cooked medium rare. Two others went with the fish, one a salmon and the other the dover sole. One had the fried chicken. The other three went with fillets. We ordered side dishes for the table; creamed corn, lobster mac n cheese, creamed spinach, and pave' potato. All went over well.

We were stuffed after all that, but because of the celebrations we were given several deserts; the Chocolate Bar, the beignets and creme brulee.
Also had a decaf cappuccino to wrap up the evening.

Oh, I forgot to mention beverages during the meal. Six of us went with wine. Our waiter knows us had had a special bottle ready for the occasion. One just stuck to water, the other went with a couple of beers that our waiter suggested.

And how could I forget the brioche rolls with salted butter? Yum!!!

Our meal took close to 3 hours which is typical for us dining there. If you prefer something faster, they could certainly do it in 2 hours but I'd never suggest anything shorter than that. This is an experience to be enjoyed.

It sounds absolutely delicious. Thank you for sharing.

Ate there in October and had a phenomenal meal. I can only speak Ceaser salad was amazing. The carpaccio was perfect(I LOVE Carpaccio), Short Rib was cooked perfectly, the man and cheese side was great, and The mushrooms you can order as a side were sinfully good(best thing i had actually. The beignets were very good.

All around great experience.

We were looking at the menu since we’re considering B&B for an upcoming trip. Everything sounds delicious!! Out of curiosity, how much do you think the average couple spends on dinner? $300? More?

Is at about 15 mins by taxi from GF to the Waldorf?
Our reservation is at 9.30 pm, do they stop service at a certain time? We are visiting to celebrate my son’s birthday, but his actual birthday is the day after, so I am wondering whether we will still be eating at midnight and can begin his birthday day with a glass of champagne.

15 minutes from the GF to the Waldorf sounds about right. It might be slightly less, but go with the 15 minute estimate.

You may still be seated by midnight with a 9:30 reservation time. However, if you are done before that, just stop at the Peacock Ally bar for that celebratory beverage.

Thought this might be a useful data point for somebody! We're staying at the Waldorf for two weeks from Dec 10. I'd booked all our park meals sixty days out, but wanted to go to Bull and Bear one evening so my husband and I could have a bit of time together while someone watches the kids. I did not, however, think to book B&B early. Oops.

I couldn't get a table online on any of the evenings we had free. And I couldn't call, because I'm in the UK with two small children who wake me up VERY early every morning, so staying up past midnight to wait for the line to open wasn't really an option!

I ended up emailing the hotel front desk, explaining that we'd be staying at the hotel, and requesting a booking for Dec 16. They were able to do the time we'd asked for (7pm), and were really fast and polite in responding. I don't see why this should't work for non-Waldorf guests: if you're having trouble it's worth a try!

I did the same, open table had no reservations for our date. Ended up calling the hostess and she found us a time that worked. Doesn't hurt to call!

Note that if you do call, there isn't anybody at the podium until 6 pm eastern time.
