Any reason not to book resorts through external websites?

I have seen some ok prices for wdw resorts on sites like Expedia and orbitz. I book a lot of accommodation on these sites and don't mind that I have to pay upfront for a lot of them because then I know that the hotel is paid for and I will not suffer from falls in the exchange rate etch (not from USA). While some of the other sites don't list the actual disney resorts (only swan and dolphin) the few that I have found sometimes have a good price. Is there any reason (aside from lack of flexibility to change) not to book? I am thinking that if I wanted to do dining plan of book park tickets direct through disney and have everything linked together I might have trouble. What about free airport transfers etc? Anyone know if these external sites make it very difficult?

I booked at cheaptickets.com. No problem, in fact a couple days later they had an extra promo and I cancelled my first resv and booked at a different disney resort. You do need to get the disney resv # which I got almost immediately by accessing the online chat with the cheaptickets site.. I was immediately able to add my reservation to MDE and book the magical express and I ordered my magic bands as well. I do not believe you can add the dining plan to the resv, only if you book directly with Disney.

I booked a room at the Boardwalk through Travelocity last year and had no issues. We got ME, Magic Bands, etc with no problem. I actually booked the Yacht Club first and then saw a better deal for the Boardwalk so I cancelled and re-booked. Also no issue there. I was able to get a really great deal through Travelocity. I would definitely do it again.
