Any plumbers out there?

The water in my bathtub is coming out brown, looks rusty. This happened once or twice before, but it was just for a minute or two. My DD just went to fill up the tub and the water never ran clean, she then tried the shower and although it looks clear, when you fill up a cup, it is also brown. This is happening in my shower, too, but none of the sinks. Any ideas?

Sometimes our town notifies everybody that the water will be rusty because they are bleeding the fire hydrants.

We have no water pressure in our kitchen - been thinking about calling a plumber for that. Yesterday, our tenant's water heater broke - water all over the basement - sure hope one of my 3 boys becomes a plumber!!

Does it happen if you use just cold water or do you have to have hot water running also? I agree with lizzy it could be a town thing, altough doing it on a Sat on NYE would be rather odd. If it's just hot could be something wrong with the hot water heater
