Any place to eat after 11:30pm??

We fly in from Colorado and very often get in late to Orlando. I have always found the Orlando airport to be a bit of a ghost town after 10:00 p.m. There is a Starbuck's in the main part of the airport that has been open and we've been able to grab a muffin a few times. As for the other places, they've never been open for our late arrivals .

The food courts offer very little after 11:00 p.m. My best advice is to plan on DTD (but maybe call some places and see how late they serve. I am also betting ESPN at the Boardwalk is safe bet).

I also have been known to pack a lunch/dinner/snack for everybody to eat on the plane. Sandwiches, fruit, peanuts, crackers, all pack up well. Its just tough to plan a late meal at WDW and if your plane is delayed, that can wreak havoc with your plan to eat at the food court.

Why don't you eat at your connecting airport while on your layover?

My family and I just did that when we flew to my sister's wedding a few months ago. We had a late flight and happened to be at the Memphis airport right around dinner time. We just ate while waiting for our next flight and when we got to our destination we went right to sleep. You could also pack snacks in your carryon to eat if you are hungry again when you get to WDW.

Or grab something at the connecting airport to eat on the plane, and pack a few snacks to accommodate the time change that you can have once you land. Airports these days are chock full of sandwiches and salads to go - since serving food on planes is so quaint now......

After ten hours of flying, I myself would NOT want to go hunting for food. And I suspect you'll discover that by the time you get off the plane, wait for ME, have ME get you to your resort, it may be later (Eastern Time) than you expect.

Last fall we went to DTD around 11:30pm hoping that WGP express would be open - boo everything was closed except for McD's and Bongos! haha we ended up at McD's b/c we were so hungry :headache: lol

Planet Hollywood or the House of Blues should be open.

It seems like the lounge at POR was going pretty late when we were there.

I know we tuckered out before Bob Jackson did anyway.

thanks everyone for your input. We are staying at CBR so there is no in-room dining. Also our layover is in phoenix where we will be grabbing a bite to eat but that is around noon and we don't get to Orlando till 9:40pm. We have a stop somewhere else along the line but not sure where and we don't get off the plane. (The lovely advantages of southwest :lmao:)

I suspect by 9:40 you'll find a pretty shut down Orlando airport, but there is a Chili's in the Orlando airport - they'd probably be open.

You very likely won't reach CBR until after 10:40 or so even if you hustle to get to ME - the fastest we've ever made it to our resort using ME was more than an hour after the plane landed.

Its going to take you ten minutes at least to check in - at that time of night it should be fast - but the desk is only lightly staffed, so if anyone else is checking it, it could take longer.

You might want to drop some stuff off in your room - especially if you are handling your own luggage - CBR is big and spread out, that can take some time.

Then you start getting stuck with the transportation issues. DTD buses run late (and is the best chance of finding something open) but don't run terribly often.

You might consider grabbing a cab. And if you are going to do that, getting offsite from CBR and finding a Perkins is as easy as getting anything at Disney.

Heck, if it's going to feel like 8 or 9 to you, then you won't be too tired to grab a bus or cab to DTD. There will be a few places that serve drinks open that you should be able to grab a bite to eat at. :thumbsup2
