Any Pittsburghers here?

Bucky Larue!!!!!

You are a peach! Thanks so much for the link to house assessments. I was looking for this and couldn't seem to find it. Now if I could find one similar to that for Butler county, I'd be happy! I can find the site, but it asks for names of owners, not the address.

We have narrowed our search to Upper Saint Clair, Mt. Lebanon, and Cranberry. We have a short list of houses in each of those that we would like to see. Now, if only they don't sell before we get there. :)

Looks like I will be leaving out the weekend of the 1st, catching the open houses that weekend because DH has to be there for work.

As far as the Dis meet...I can't wait to meet all of you! :cheer2:

Jodi

PS.
Now I have another added stress...
What am I going to do about my Disney trip in 72 days??? :confused3
The plane tickets are bought, non refundable leaving from Bentonville. Oh, my, I am NOT cancelling it, either! :teeth:
We will probably need some fun time after all we are getting ready to go through...

We are thinking of moving to Pittsburgh, but have not been there yet. Anybody from there have any advice on good neighborhoods, near transit? We have been researching on the net and Beechview looks pretty good; any feedback? Also, we are planning on one or both of us getting there for a recon trip later this summer or early fall. Any suggestions on places to stay, things to see and do, etc. would be appreciated! You can PM me here or just post in the thread. Thanks!!

Pittsburgher here!

If public transit is a concern of yours definately stick to the South Hills area. The T runs out there and goes right into town. Castle Shannon and Library are a little further out on the line but good areas too. I grew up and live in the eastern suburbs where we don't have access to the T so I'd say sticking to the South Hills would be the way to go if that's a primary concern of yours.

Hello to all of my new friends and "almost" neighbors!

Just wanted to give this thread a bump :Pinkbounc

And, ask if anyone knows of anything fun that's going on in Pittsburgh next weekend (Labor Day w'kend)? We won't have the kids, so we will be a little more free to come and go...Yay! Adult time!!! :thumbsup2

We will be coming in sometime next week, staying through the weekend, looking for houses.

Thanks for any info!!!!

Hey Jodi!! You can go down to the Ribfest!!! It's down at Heinz Field (our football stadium) and it's free admission. There is all kinds of food, live acts, etc.

It's a great time and really gives you a taste (no pun intended) of the city.

We are going to try to make it a fun house hunting trip because we have been under such pressure lately! Something like this would be interesting to do. Dh's best friend is giong to be in town for the Pitt/ Va game, so we are going to see him as well.

Anyone else know of anything fun, or, how about the best restaraunts to eat in; something that is a must? We are staying downtown, but I don't remember where.

Thanks!

I wasn't sure about the house, it could have been around the corner. My sister has lived there for 6 years and I still don't know the street names. Her subdivision is called Hoodridge Hilands. I hope that helps. Happy hunting.

Hoodridge is great. A really nice, pretty neighborhood and close to all kinds of stuff.

Hi yinz guyz! Today's Post-Gazette had a front-page article all about how nice the Greenfield section of the city is. You can read it here: Greenfield secret is getting out

Hey---I'm feeling kind of lonely! :sad1: Am I the only DIS-Pittsburgher who lives in Monroeville, or anywhere east of the city? Most of yins posting here are from the South Hills or Cranberry. Doesn't anybody live out my way? :confused3

DH is from Penn Hills and his parents still live there. We were just there last week!

Hey--
Just wondering if any of you could help a poor, stressed person out!

Does anyone know of a somewhat cheap apartment that DH could sign a 3 or 6 month lease there while we try to sell our house here? He needs a furnished one, and the cheapest we can come up with is $880. Even Extended Stay is more than that, and Springhill Suites is, too.

Can anyone offer any of their knowledge?

We look forward to being there this weekend! :goodvibes

Thanks--
Jodi

Hi! :wave2:

I'm from Monroeville (born & raised). Married, moved to Pitcairn. Built new and now live in North Huntingdon. Love those Westmoreland County taxes :thumbsup2

I sent a PM to you. Helping to keep the thread alive for your question. You might want to give the DISers an area where you are looking for a short term lease. Someone might know a property owner that will do a short term lease
Good Luck

WOW! There are a ton of Pittsburgher's on here. I belong to 2 other boards(one has mostly new jersyians and the other has milwaukeeans)but have lurked on here for a while and didnt notice how many folks are from the 'burgh. AWESOME!

You ladies who are to become potential Steelers fans will love PGH. So many things to see and do. You have to take the kiddos to the Childrens Museum. I miss being able to hop on the bus and go to the museum or downtown for the day. I am 2 hours northeast of Pgh now.

Oh and Amy I am orginally from Turtle Creek(yes it really is a town name ppl) and Forest Hills so I hope that makes you feel better. Not sure how old you are, but do you remember the skating rink at the mall?

I am trying to get a mid west meet together thru here and the other boards and Pgh is one of the choices of cities. I have a poll on it but am still learning this board so I dont know how to link. Vote and put Pgh over the top. LOL I dont want to drive to Chicago. I would love to meet other Disney nuts. God I hate small town/ podunky mentality--ppl here just dont understand me.

 Hi juligrl and xyzabc!! Nice to know I'm not alone out here!

And yes, I DO remember the skating rink at Monroeville Mall. Wish they still had it.

Don't you mean Turtle "Crick"? :rotfl:

I'm 28 and I remember the skating rink at the mall. That's where I went the first time I went ice skating and I have pictures to prove it!

Where are you now?

Dubois area. PPL here look at me funny when I say I live in the house with the mickey mouse mailbox. At least it is good for the pizza guy to use as a landmark.

I'm in Penn Hills and have lived here most of my life. (except for a brief 2 year period when I lived in Brookline while going to school downtown.)

I spend a lot of time shopping in Monroeville, I'm usually there a couple times a week! I'm still upset over the closing of the Showcase Cinemas!
Now I have to go to Waterworks or Cheswick to see a movie! Where do the Monroeville people go to see a movie? I can't believe there's no theatre in Monroeville anymore!!! It stinks!

Wow I never realized how many DISers were from Steeler Country!

Hopefully we could get a meet planned to meet some other DISers!

In fact I was driving to Century III mall about a month ago and saw a Disney license plate, cant remember what it said, but I think it was a silver car. I wanted to come home and make a post but I must have been to frazzled after a day of shopping to remember!

Also I see that Southwest is almost booked to Orlando for our trip September 9th......anyone heading to Disney with us? :cheer2:
