Any People From AZ? (Arizona)

Well when you move, welcome to Arizona!!

Thanks! We are so excited about our move!! Still deciding between Scottsdale & North Phoenix/Paradise Valley-whichever is the cheapest, safest, with a good school system (I'm a teacher).

We are very excited about moving from the yucky Boston weather to the paradise weather in AZ! :)

Mesa is the best ;)

Actually Mesa wouldn't be a bad choice for all of the above.

Hey everyone! I'm in west Phoenix (almost Glendale)

I would also like to add a suggestion to StellaBlue to consider Awatukee, Tempe or Chandler. Basically anything to the east and north of Phoenix I would suggest (for the school part). :)

I am not there currently but lived at the Grand Canyon for several years. DH and I plan to move back to AZ with in the next few years, possibly Prescott. I can't wait. :woohoo:

I'd choose Chandler or Mesa.

Sounds nice :)

Wow, you guys are great-THANK YOU so much for these suggestions!! My BFF lives in Scottsdale and we are heading out there at the end of April to scope out the area and the apartments.

I know that Tempe is out for us, just because it seems too "college'y" for us. We are a couple in our early 30's and we currently live around the corner from a university in Boston. We can't stand the noisy college kids & how run down they've made the area where we live now. We will be renting an apt when we get out there, so likely be surrounded by college kids if we moved to Tempe. I do like the center of town in Tempe though (Baseline area).

We were also thinking about Old Town Scottsdale-I don't know much about this area except for the shopping ;) Any thoughts???? :confused3

I think I passed through Mesa once, but I don't remember it. So this is a safe area?

Chandler and Glendale are also on our list of potential places.

We are basically looking to rent a nice, but inexpensive (inexpensive compared to Boston apts mind you!! Right now, we pay $1400/month for a run down one bedroom in a very convenient location but it's very expensive!!). We are interested in being situated in an area that might allow us to walk to a store once in a while if we wanted to, possibly a mountain view!! I'd prefer to live close by my BFF who lives in Scottsdale, but open to other areas.

I'm a special ed. teacher and DBF is a waiter at Flemings Steakhouse-I think there are 3 in the phoenix area (he is in process of getting computer certifications to change jobs, but will likely transfer to one of the AZ Flemings when we move). Safety is very important to me, as DBF works late at night sometimes and I tend to be a scared little girl when I'm alone at night!!

So all those areas you mentioned above have good school systems? That's very good to know.

Please feel free to PM me or offer any more advise on our moving situation-I'd gladly appreciate any advice you have to offer as far as locations, locations to avoid, names of great apartment complexes, specific school systems and what you like about them,....I work primarily with young children with autism, but am content and capable of teaching other populations of young children with special needs.

Thanks!!!:flower3:

Mesa is a very safe area. I happen to live there.

There are a few schools with Speical Ed. Jobs open, so you could check that out.

Chandler is an amazing area.

That's all I have to say ;)

I can't wait for the day when I'll be able to spend more than just a week at a time in Arizona. I've visited 4 times in the last 13 years, usually during my
April school vacation. Last year I came during February. It was really 'cold' and windy that week ... but still much warmer than New Hampshire!!

We're in Chandler.

We moved to Chandler from Tempe about a month ago. The only parts of Tempe that I felt had a college feel were up close to to college but you'll get that in S. Scottsdale too. Mesa is nice as are Chandler, Tempe, and Gilbert. I'd personally avoid Awahtukee and Scottsdale as they're both expensive IMO.

Come to Tucson!!! We have a Flemings here and the Foothills school district is one of the best...( and as a Mom of a child w/ ASD- we need you!) The Flemings is in the Foothills..LOL.
Tucson is nicer and a little cooler than Phoenix.
