I know that I like to make sure I have everything I need for a vacation! I tend to bring too many clothes, books, etc... I don't mind this though because on the plane ride there I don't have to worry about possibly needing something or having to buy something there. I think of myself as well-prepared. What about you? :flower:

I always pack like I'm going for a month :earboy2:
And then I never end up wearing most of it, and I end up buying new stuff to wear anyway.

We never overpack LOL :earboy2:
We pack for 1 month that is to say we stop packing when the Excursion is full! :crowded:

I am an overpacker too!!! I am trying to get better, but I leave in a few days and I am taking alot of stuff!!!!!!

We are going in February and from what I have been told, we should expect the temps. to be between 40-80 degrees. Including shorts, jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts and jackets... I think we will have more of our clothes with us then we are leaving at home. :)

I am historically known in my family as the overpacker. I've been known to take 3 suitcases for a weekend getaway with just my husband. You can imagine what I pack for 4 people for Disney. Last year we had to buy an extra suitcase just for the flight home because there was no extra room in our suitcases for any of the stuff that we bought. LOL.

I don't overpack, but my husband packs like he is spending a month for a week long vacation. If his luggage was lost, he would have no clothes left 'cause he takes them all with him from home.

Yes, that's me! I'm tryig so hard NOT to overpack for our May trip, but I know that the van will be FILLED by the time that it pulls out of the driveway. This year I'm going to make careful lists, pack early and make myself only pack in the suitcases.

Yea, I can relate to that if my luggage got lost i'd have no clothes left at home! i am staying for 4 days I I know I'll bring a lot more than i need ;)

For those of us going in February (We leave in 4 days  ) it is really, really hard not to overpack. My youngest DD is home sick today, so I have been TRYING to pack. I know I will take WAY more than I need because the weather is so unpredictable. Even when it warms to 70 in the afternoon, it is 45 to 50 when we leave and when we return. So we have to take layers. And then throw in a couple pair of shorts, just in case. I am trying so hard not to over do it, but I don't want to get down there and have to buy sweatshirts just because we are cold (we have done that!!). We, too, always come back with more than we left with. I guess that's part of the magic! ::MinnieMo :Pinkbounc ::MickeyMo :wave2:

I am a reformed overpacker. Used to pack 4-5 pairs of shoes for a long weekend. Now I barely pack enough clean underwear - I SAID BARELY! :earboy2: I figure that I can buy anything I really need and either write it off as a souvenir or realize that vacationing at Disney cost money and I start hemorrhaging it as soon as I'm on property anyway!

on every trip we only use about half of what we pack! i keep vowing to go lighter, but it is so hard to do. if we go with 4 suitcases, 2 of them come home with unworn clothes. it is a sickness! i can't help it.

Just once underpack, discover the joy, and you may never overpack again! Try it - it's addicting!

I am an overpacker as well. I used to be really bad and seem to pack clothing in my suitcase that i never wear at home but somehow feel the need to take on holiday with me. I have gotten better but only a little. I still feel the need to pack for every possible "What If" situation.

I am stating it now in front of all of you....not this time!! I am determined on this trip not to over pack. We are staying 1 week at Disney then going on to Ft. Myers after. So I do have a variety to pack for. I know I will be on vacation...but I am planning on doing laundry at Disney. Yes I said it, and I am going to do it. I am so sick of bringing too much and not using it, dragging it home and then rewashing it again because it ends up mixed w/ the dirty. I am also going to use the dry cleaning service as well through the hotel. THAT IS THE PLAN...lets see if I follow it! :rotfl2:
This is the plan in case it is helpful to anyone:
I bought each kid their own duffle bag (target had champion ones in different colors-each kid got their fav. for 19.99), not a cute character rolling suitcase, you can fit way more and they can shrunch down a little too. I also heard to prepack each days clothes (including underwear and socks) in seperate bags, that way the outfits are already arranged. You just have to grab a bag and go (easy for the kids too) Dirty clothes go back in the bag. I always bring extra underwear and an extra couple shirts (disney days are long and sometimes you want to freshen up a little) :cloud9: I am hoping this goes well and we cut down.
Since we are driving I want the third row seat at least half way up so the kids have room to spread out, so I want to keep the crap at a minimum! :rotfl:
good luck to all on their quest, I will check back to tell you if I was successful! :worship:

We used to overpack, now we limit ourselves better. Our last trip the rule was 1 suitcase for every 2 people! (We were only there for 3 nights...) There were 7 of us so we put shoes in with the extra person's suitcase! We managed, but did buy a few things, I figured that we would do that even if we overpacked! :rotfl2:

I voted yes - but that's just because DH thinks I overpack. We go for between 10-20 days, and we have three small children. If it were up to my DH they would each have about three outfits, one bathing suit, one pair of sneaks and one pair of socks. He really doesn't have any idea. Of course when someone needs a band aid or chapstick or something he's always glad that I brought it along. Wait until this year - we'll be there from June 28-July 15, but I'm going to ship the girls princess costumes to save room in the suitcases.

Hi, my name is Lisa and I'm an overpacker. I can't seem to shake the what if situation that others have said before. I also tend to overpack so that when I get home, I'm unpacking clean clothes, and then think that I have less laundry to do. Maybe we should start a support group- Overpackers Anonymous ???

To give you an idea of how bad I am, we went to Atlantic City for 3 days(husband and 2kids) we had 4pcs of luggages. You can imagine my husband's face when he saw all that I had packed :earseek:
We are going to Disney for two weeks and I am already frantic because I need an extra luggage set, it's like an obsession I am always thinking that I am forgetting something and keep adding more to the pile :rotfl2:
Does anybody have a packing list(must items) that you follow? I really would like to travel "light" How do you know what you need to pack? How many pieces of clothing do you take with you per person/child.? HELP!!!
