Any other Hotels beside the Radisson for pre-cruise night?

We are now deciding where to stay for the evening before our cruise in March. Have heard good things and bad about the Radisson and would like more info on the following:

Is the Radisson on the beach?
Does it have a pool? What's it like?
Do any hotels from Cocoa Beach have a shuttle to the Port? If not, is there a taxi service of any sort?
Anyone suggest a nice place in Cocoa Beach for Dinner and or Hotel?

We are a party of 5 (4 adults, 1kid-9) and would like to probably stay in the Port area vs. Orlando.
We will probably rent a limo or van to get us from Orlando to Cocoa Beach area the day before our cruise, but are wondering about a transfer from hotel to port.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

We will be staying there in January and will be happy to post a report after we stay. We are using Marriot Rewards points (20,000 for one night).

Then I am assuming there's a Marriott in the Cocoa Beach/Canaveral area?
Please let me know if you find out if there is a shuttle to the Port!

Thanks for all your help!

Holiday Inn Express

We are staying here in Feb. We are renting a car from Budget for 2 days - cheaper then transport from airport. We will also be able to run errands to Walmart etc... Ours rooms are $79 per night - best price we could find for quality....

Hi mrsfuzzmo!

There is a Courtyard, not a full-service Marriott. There is a shuttle that is $3 per person and it runs only at 12:15 p.m. Now our decision will be... should we take a cab over earlier or keep our reservation on the 12:15 shuttle???

I just made a reservation for 5/19/04 at the Quality Suites. It was their Aloha Cruise pkg for $84 plus tax. It includes free parking, free shuttle to port, free hot breakfast, and 2 free Hawaiian shirts from Cocoa Beach Surf Shop. Best of all, it is a 2 room suite with a king bed in the bedroom and a queen sofa sleeper. Since our 19 year old DD will have a friend with her, it will be nice to have the extra room. I called the hotel today as I had heard that they didn't offer the free hot breakfast any longer and the parking and shuttle were at the Radisson. Melanie at Quality Suites told me they still have the free hot breakfast and the parking is at the Radisson's secured lot. We can make reservations for the shuttle to the port prior to our arrival by calling Quality Suites. Although we haven't stayed there, I've heard positive things about it on these boards. One downside is that there isn't a pool just a waterfall spa. That's fine for us as we won't have much time to swim that evening anyway.

to answer a couple of questions, no the Radisson is not directly on the beach. It does have a pool. We were there in January, and the pool was unheated...so it was too cold to swim in. Other than that, i liked staying there. It was so easy to return the rental car, and a bunch of DIS folks all stayed there the same time, and so we had a nice big meet the night before. Price was reasonable, it was clean, and food was OK.

you really should check out Dave's website, as i believe he has a map that details the places to eat and stay in the space coast area. That should help you out.

The Aloha package definantly sounds nice since it would be saving us 70 in parking charges, however, I really liked the fact that they porter put our bags in the car & were were off. Is the Radison close enough that you can have one person get on the shuttle & pick up the car, then return to the port to pick up the others & the bags??? TIA!

The Aloha Package does sound fun! I will have to check out all the suggestions! Does anyone know if there is a taxi service in the area? We don't really want to rent a car. We'd just rather limo to the area and take a taxi the next morning. We want to be at the port bright and early!
Thanks everyone for your suggestions I will check out daves tribute sight ad take a look at what they have to offer.

Thanks again. I'll let you know if I find anything else decent! Keep the suggestions coming!

lbgraves-I am planning on taking the shuttle and then going back to pick up the others. I have read on these boards that others have done it when parking at the Radisson.
