Any other Florida residents feeling slighted?

Wow - I go to bed and look what happens....

ONCE again, I started this as a question to Fl residents and what their feelings were. I DO realize this is a public board and people are free to post anywhere, but COME ON.

I am sorry this has become so ugly and that many non Floridians felt such a great need to post their opinions, not only about the discounts offered to us but about the place that we call home.

Hey, you won't catch me saying anything derogatory about your state- I love  it there and if I could get dh to move... we'd be there in a heartbeat.

To answer the original question. I do not feel slighted as others having access to DDE does not hurt me and there were not changes to the seasonal pass so I'm not really affected. I will agree that FL resident purchasers of the 4 Play have been hurt in that for the same price they now get 3 days, a significant loss. I will also agree that residents from other states gained flexibility and new options while it seems FL residents did not gain anything with the recent changes and lost a day with the 4Play. Disney is a business and can operate how they choose so it doesn't occur to me to be bothered by it. But I'm not as in love with Disney as some and it doesn't bother me to chose a 2 year IOA/US pass next year either.

As long as we have lived here WDW has not had any respect for FL residents, and what little there is, decreases with each year.

Now..go to Universal..you will get some deals and respect. Universal/Sea World..they love their residents.

As a Florida resident I do not feel slighted. I feel greatful to live in such a wonderful place. I appreciate the tourist, as I enjoy not having to pay State income tax. We are onle 1 1/2 hrs from the magic. Would I like a bigger discount? Of course but I'm happy for what we have. And yes, I am a native born In St. Pete. Moved as a child (not by choice) and moved back as an adult (by choice).

I think both of those parks have great deals but are the FL specific? The IOA/US 2 year annual preferred pass for the cost of one year (which I got) was not restricted to FL residents. I've bought friends the AAA 15-month power pass for 104.95 which I thought was a very good deal but I don't think it was restricted to FL residents. Back when I got a SW Fun card (one day gets you the entire year) I believe it WAS restricted to FL residents but I thought it had opened up to anyone. I could be wrong but now that you point it out, maybe a lot of parks are getting rid of FL perks to favor passholder perks. I'm having fun doing a year of Disney with a FL resident pass but sometimes I like how easy US/IOA was ....... pass included parking, 20% off food w/o need to purchase DDE and if you treat yourself to staying onsite ............. feel like royalty ------- themepark experience w/o lines or getting into car/bus. As close to "relaxing" as you can get with themepark experience. Sorry for the digression............... In the end, if other parks seem like a better deal b/c of passholder or FL resident discounts, we should go there. If Disney parks are making good money and high attendence w/o offering FL residents more, it would be bad business to change things.

that many non Floridians felt such a great need to post their opinions,
Well, like I said.....anything "Florida" related catches the eye of most on the DIS. People that come to this forum do so because FL is a big vacation destination for them and anything connected to the state can be interesting/informative etc. Many of us own FL-based timeshares, giving us yet another bit of vested interest. I have several relatives in the state (Jacksonville, Flagler Beach & Vero Beach). I, personally love the state and hope to relocate down there one day......so the topic def caught my eye. Sorry if any of you feel defensive about that or resent me (and other non-residents) posting. As a whole, I think the majority of the posts from non-residents were civil and quite rational. I think part of the reason it got ugly is because certain posters got very defensive. Of course non-residents are gonna fire back when things like "touron" & "falling on def ears", among other comments are made (among other rude statements).
