Anyone else think we need four day weekends at least once a month? ;)

I hope everyone has a good month this month! This is my first month temping and I'm using FF to keep track. Do they normally tell you when you O? Or do you need to pay for that service. So far, the chart hasn't indicated that I've O'd yet and I was just wondering. Is the pay service worth it?

Also, would you all please keep my cousin in your prayers. She's due with her 3rd at the end of January and has been in and out of the hospital with gallbladder problems. Her gall bladder needs to come out and they're just not sure what to do. She's in a lot of pain, taking pain meds, can't eat much, dehydrated, etc. This can't be good for the baby or her. Her doctors have contacted a few hospitals re removing the gall bladder with the baby still in there, but so far no luck. Not sure what's going to happen. I think her little boy (she has two daughters so they are thrilled that this one is a boy!) may have to make an early appearance. I feel so guilty for being so jealous of her pregnancy and keeping my distance at Thanksgiving...and now this. :(

I use FF to track, and I did 5 months with the free service, and just signed up for the pay service. The free service does tell you when you O, but FF (pay or free) doesn't indicate O until after you have O'd. Your temp rises the day after you O, and FF waits until you have 3 consecutive raised temps over the baseline before it indicates that you have O'd. It helps if you are also charting things like CM to help you get a sense of when O is coming.

Sometimes FF gives you a free trial of the premium service, and I decided to upgrade after my second free trial. I like the premium service because it gives you more options of things to chart and does more detailed analysis of your symptoms and cycles. I'd say use the free service for a few months, and if you don't get that BFP and find the charts aren't giving you enough details, then try a short upgrade session.

I still don't know what to think about my chart this month - FF still says that I O'd at least a week earlier than usual, but we did BD within 48hours before O. FF says we have a "good" chance of getting our BFP this month despite the O date being WAY before I expected. So I'm now analyzing every little symptom and feeling and praying every morning for that sustained high temp. I'm going to test on Sat. if AF hasn't shown up. Now it's killing me to wait until then to test, but I don't want to waste money on a bunch of tests with all the BFN's.

Hi ladies. Glad to hear everyone survived the holidays. I have had an interesting few weeks. DH and I decided to start trying early since I went of BCP and we figured it wouldn't happen right away anyway. So, I started temping everyday on FF. I went to the Dr. on 11/13 and the Dr. told me that I was definately O'ing, then, I talked to my boss at work and she started giving me crap about taking time off work to go to the dr. and I am feeling pretty shakey about work, which, is where my benefits are through, so, I have to stay there. DH and I decided to stop trying until things settle down a bit and work isn't such a stress factor. I continued to temp until we left for Thanksgiving on Wednesday, cd 22, FF still wasn't showing an O, even though my dr. said I had O'ed the week before. Well, AF showed up on Thursday....cd 23. I have been on the pill for over a year and have never had a cycle so short. Is this common to have a short cycle the first month off BCP? I feel so stupid about all this. I never charted or paid much attention to my cycle before this. Thanks for any help.

Must be something about this month...I O'd about a week early too! Sending some baby dust your way!! Hoping for that BFP! pixiedust:

Poohprincess - my OB said it may take up to 6 months for my cycles to get regular after coming off the pill. So, I think having a short cycle isn't totally unexpected. You may have some short cycles and long cycles until your body can adjust.

Maybe it's the holiday stress hitting early? :confused3 I keep thinking "okay, God, if this is a BFP month then it's clearly a miracle from you because there's no way that I got it lined up the way I think it needs to happen!" :p
I'll pass on some baby dust to you, too... pixiedust: hopefully we'll both get those BFP's and we'll have a super gift for this December!

I have a question for everyone, and I apologize if this has already been talked about, but there are just too many pages to look thru now!!! lol

I am in my first 2ww, yea!!! :cheer2:

My question, do you all act as if you are pregnant during this time? Do you worry about what you take(medicine) or drink and so on?

Welcome, CindyBeth! I'm in the 2ww, too!

In response to your question, I think most people are a little more cautious during the 2ww, and don't drink alcohol or caffinated beverages, and try to only take "approved" meds. My Dr. said it doesn't really matter during the 2ww unless you have a history of early MC, and the main thing was to be sure to get enough folic acid (a multi-vitamin usually is sufficient). She said they won't even evaluate my allergy meds until after I get a BFP, and that's when they'll decide if I should discontinue some of them. There are some medicines that are VERY harmful to a developing baby at any stage, but usually your dr. has told you about those risks in advance and told you to discontinue them before TTC.

Most women don't even know they are preg until well past the 2ww, and they just keep going with life as usual and still deliver healthy babies. There's a great book called "Fearless Pregnancy" that helps reassure all us over-cautious and over-analyzing types!

Hope the BFP comes at the end of our 2ww! When do you test?

Hi Ladies!!! Hope you all had great Thanksgivings!!! Mine was good but a little to much baby talk for me. I tried to stay positive and smile at "the question" but by the end of the night I had had enough.

DH and I decided to "take this cycle off" but we were not "Not trying" either. I only used the OPK's till I got my first positive then stopped. We did BD that night so who knows.

I will be gone for a few more days as we leave for Hawaii on Friday :sunny: :beach: and OF COURSE AF is due right in the middle of our vacation :rolleyes2 never freeking fails!!!!

So until then...ALOHA!!!!

Ash, so sorry about AF.

Allison- a girl!!! how exciting, congrats to you!!

Elaine- i hope January gets here soon for both of us. i am feeling a lot better now, thanks for the pep talk.

Brandi- thanks for the adoption info. We've decided we will give in vitro a chance at least once. i will probably do 2 more injectable cycles first. i've done 3 IUIs, one with injectables. the RE likes you to try each thing 3X. so 2 more and then we will move to in vitro at that point. I have looked into adoption and adopting through CPS here in TX is free and they also pay for college tuition. of course you rarely get a baby and usually the kid/s have baggage/issues from broken homes. But that is an option too. Private adoptions usually base it on a percentage of your income. so we are educating ourselves on adoption too, we have decided we aren't there yet though.

I was very blessed with a visit from my grandpa over thanksgiving. he drove in from SC and is almost 80, but in great health! He came into a lot of money when my grandma's sister passed a few years ago. He sat me down and told me he would help us with in vitro. He said he can't take the money with him when he dies and a family is so important. He said he'll be mad if we don't ask him for help. He said he'll send a cashier's check for what we need. My mom was reviewing the IVF price sheet on Thursday, so i know he heard the ballpark costs and seems fine with letting us have that money.

i hate taking money. but if it gets us a family finally, so be it. i know it would make him happy that the money is going for something so important. anyways- that relieves some stress right there, knowing we have that option. We can afford the 2 more injectable cycles on our own. it won't be cheap, since my insurance is changing and the shots can be like $800, but at least it isn't $10k yet!

so i am still taking it easy this month off----hopefully my cysts are going away so we can start up in mid december with a new shot cycle. DH and i have BD'd quite a bit actually- all the fertility drugs did a number on my hormones, so i lost a lot of my 'drive'. so he is happy i am not on drugs this month. it's been nice. i still can't 'forget about it' and 'just relax' and it will happen like everyone says......i won't give up. but it is still nice just not being hopped up on all the drugs that make me feel so crappy all the time. it's a nice break.

hope everyone had a great thanksgiving!! :grouphug:

Imarriedgrumpy - I love your name!!! That could be mine! My dh is known thoughout our family as Grumpy, in fact, my dniece calls him, Uncle Grumpy!!! And he has lots of Grumpy items, of course! Maybe we should check and make sure we are not married to the same man! lol :rotfl:

Today (27), I'm 4dpo, so I'm still in the beginning part of the 2ww. How about you? How many dpo's out do you usually test?

Kelly, Thanks for the info. I wish the dr. would have told me that when he told me to go off BCP. He ran a whole battery of tests on the 13th, just to know where we are starting from. He is concerned with Diabetes since it runs in my family and my DD was over 10 pounds when she was born. I just wish it was time to start trying already.

No problem Poohprincess! :sunny: It took my body a while to adjust. I went off the pill last February, and my body was out-of-wack for a few months, and then settled down.

So, today is 10 DPO. My bbs are still sore, but that is about it. No other real symptoms....besides me just being cranky!! ;) I love Christmas and the holidays, so I keep my radio tuned to the Christmas channel when I drive to work to put me in a good mood for the day!! :santa:

Anybody hear from Carla - AllyandJack lately? She hasn't posted on the boards in over a month which is unusual anyway just hoping she is ok.

How funny that your DH is a Grumpy, too! I call mine "Grumpy boy", but he's also known among friends and family as the Grinch, the Grump, Eeyore, and the Grouch. His bark is usually worse than his bite, but when he's grumpy, he's GRUMPY! My favorite Grumpy thing that I've gotten him is a pair of Grumpy boxer shorts I bought on our last trip to WDW. Now I can say to him "sounds like someone's wearing his Grumpy shorts today." (I'm amused! :teeth: )

FF reset my O date from CD16 to CD20, which is still early for me but closer to normal. So today (28th) is 4dpo for me. Darn - if I'd O'd on CD16, I could test this Saturday, but now I have to wait until next Wed. the 6th. I have a short luteal phase (usually only 10 days), so I test at 12dpo if AF hasn't shown. Fortunately, we kept BD even though FF said I'd O'd CD16 - I was skeptical of that since I have NEVER O'd that early in all the months I've been charting. So I know we BD the day before and the day of O. Now I just have to survive the 2ww! It's killing me here!

I haven't heard anything, but I've been wondering how she's doing, too. I hope she's okay...

Aww...congrats Allison! Any names picked out yet??

Thanks! Yes, we have a name picked out, but it's secret til she pops out. :teeth: Still need ideas for a middle name - we might go with something familial, either on his side or mine. It's hard picking out names, though! We still have no idea what we'd name a boy!

Hoping for some BFPs this month! :wizard:

Ok...have to come here and vent for a minute.....if one more person tells me to "relax" I think I may just FLIP OUT!!! :furious: Why, when people find out you have been TTC for a while, do they say that???? It bothers me soooooo much!! Like, I am going to be like - ahhhhh  - god, THAT'S why I am not pg! I just need to relax!!! Thank you so much for telling me!!! :worship:

I need a good comeback!!! What do you all say to people that tell you this?!?! :listen:

Kelly, I really don't know what to say! No one knows we are TTC except for you girls and I think my best friend probably knows since I asked her about OTC prenatals back in June when I first went off of the pill. Other than that, no one knows.

I've been thinking about Carla too. I sure hope she's doing okay.

I'm on CD 17. This is my first month charting. According to FF, I still haven't o'd. My chart is all over the place, though. The first few days I was sick and then last week my DH was off (he's a teacher) so I took my temps later than normal.

I do have a question about charting. My DH's alarm goes off at 5:15am, so that's when I try to temp. This morning I woke up at 4:45am for some reason, looked at the clock, then went back to sleep. Never got out of bed. Should I have taken my temp then?

This is so true!! I am laughing right now :rotfl2: . It is worse when my Dh says it to me. Yes, dear your saying it is helping :confused3 .
