Lisa, I've always lived in Deerfield....well, when I left MA, that is. I'm a little further up 93. DH's numbers were good for both IUIs. Are you going to test before your beta?

gypsy, this is why I don't buy HPTs. They taunt you. I end up cutting out most things during my IVF cycle - even before the 2ww. I just get so miserable from the meds that I don't want to drink alcohol anyway. I don't drink coffee or tea normally and I usually only have 2 diet sodas a week, so I figure that's fine. I cut out my colitis medication during the 2ww, but I still take Tylenol PM now and then because my OB/GYN said it's safe to take even during pregnancy. I figure, as long as you're not out getting plastered every single night, a drink here and there for fun is OK.

FlyingBelle, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! I hope you get good news today. You showed great restraint not testing before the beta.

Becky, to heck with those old people at work. They're just jealous because you have so much to look forward to. New career, starting a family....they're just miserable people with nothing going on in their lives.

Kristy, you must be pale like me because I bruise my stomach, too. Just don't go under the belly button - hurts like heck and leaves a month-long bruise. I learned the hard way. I usually go side to side. Hey, at least the bruises remind you where you went so you don't hit the same spot twice. When do you go back for your check?

I took today off of work. Stomach problems last night, so I decided to sleep in today. I'm still waiting for my insurance approval. But, I figure the longer I wait to start, the less pregnant I'll be for my Super Soap trip.

Carla my first monitoring appointment is Wednesday morning. Question for you...if my follicles are growing as they should be...about when will they do the retrieval? I'll ask them the same thing Wednesday but I'd like to have a guess of it now.

I'm usually on the Follistim for 10-12 days. I do 12 days....I trigger with the HCG on the 13th day and then retrieval is on the 15th day. Since I usually overstimulate, I have to go slow. I start on 150iu, go back after 3 days, and drop down from there until I'm coasting on 75iu for about 5 days, going back every day for E2 draws with ultrasounds every other day. Do you know if you're doing a 3 day or a 5 day transfer?

I'm on 225 IU's of Follistim right now...so I'm hoping that I don't overstimulate. I'm trying to drink a lot of water and I'm adding gatorade in from time to time. I'll be on a 3 day transfer.

Kristy and Carla - for all the needles, bloodwork, and general poking and prodding. I'm dreading that it might be my next step.

I went for another u/s today - still no follicles on cd19. Still haven't had a tempm spike either I'm waiting to talk to the doc to find out what I do next. Of course, a million horrible possibilities are going through my head. I know people can have an anovulatory cycle, but otherwise have normal ones, but of course, I'm convinced I'll never have a normal cycle again.... I wish he'd hurry up and call.

Jen, have they ever confirmed ovulation with progesterone testing or checked your follicles with u/s on your previous Clomid cycles? The injections aren't too bad - less side effects than Clomid and less of a chance you'll have lining problems. Let us know what the doctor says.

Kristy, the water will definitely help alleviate the symptoms if you do get OHSS. The first injectable cycle is usually trial and error. My first cycle was almost cancelled because we didn't anticipate my response. I think 225iu is standard starting dose since that's what they tried me on during my 1st cycle.

Lisa, no need to be patient. That's one thing I've decided I can do without - patience. It just gets in the way.

Just went in for my blood test this morning to find out if our lives are changing I'm nervous as h**l and have NO IDEA if it's going to be positive or negative! I should be getting the call sometime after 1pm CST today. (That's about 3 hours from now).

I'm not a big drinker anyways - but when laying at the pool, it's so hard not to have a "stupid drink" (DH's description of a frozen cocktail).

FB - I am still crossing my fingers for you. Can't wait to hear the (hopefully) good news!

I will hereby name myself the DD - Designated Drinker - for everyone on this thread once you get PG. If you feel the need to have a drink while you are PG, just drop me a line. I like most beers and wines, and have been known to enjoy a martini or margarita (or two) on occasion. I will report back to you after I finish the drinking chore, and let you know how well I enjoyed it.

Hi Everyone! I just got back from visiting my brand new nephew in Minnesota. I think he's beautiful, but DH swears he's ugly. I warned him ahead of time to keep his mouth shut about it while we were there, and he behaved himself. Holding that little baby certainly made me want one of my own even more than before. It was so sweet to hold him and watch all his funny expressions. I told him to come and visit his California Auntie as often as he wanted!

Another thought on midwives: My DB and DSIL used a midwife, and they really loved her. DSIL is very much an "all natural" gal, and she didn't want any medicine whatsoever. The midwife had all kinds of monitoring equipment that she brought to their house, and she was checking DSIL's heart rate, blood pressure, rate and timing of contractions, the baby's heart rate, etc. DSIL was in labor for 2 days, and the midwife was concerned, so when the baby's heart rate dropped and then came up again right away, the midwife was on the phone and had called an ambulance immediately. DSIL really didn't want to go to the hospital, but the midwife told her it wasn't an option. She then stayed with DSIL and DB through the whole delivery, and was able to communicate their wishes to the doctors and nurses at the hospital. The whole medical team, including the midwife, worked really well together, and my nephew was born with no complications a few hours after they arrived at the hospital.

Qualified midwives have a lot of training, and many are RN's. A good hospital will work with midwives, and a good midwife will work with a hospital. I have other friends who have delivered at home with the help of a midwife, and they have had very positive experiences. Usually, it's someone who has already had a child with no complications, and who has had a normal pregnancy with no reason for concerns about the delivery. They're also people who live within 10 minutes of a hospital and have that as "back up".

Would I use a midwife? Probably not. Then again, I hate my current insurance company (see an earlier vent...), so I really don't want to deliver there, either. There have been a number of "accidents" at their hospitals lately with wrong medication given, or too much, or patient charts getting mixed up. So I figure there are risks involved no matter what I choose (unless I can persuade DH to change our insurance and go with the more expensive plan offered at his work...)

Anyway, just thought I'd add my two cents...


Oh, and regarding my vent about the appointment rescheduling issues...
I went with the first available appointment (September 8), and have to figure out if I'm taking the baby I nanny with me to the appointment or find someone else to babysit the baby that I babysit while I go to the doctors' office... They still insist that I need this appointment before we start TTC to satisfy their "process" for the fertility and pregnancy clinic. I figure I'll just not mention that we've already started TTC and let it go as if it were a "pre-TTC" appointment.

I have had it with Kevin all this infertility is too stressful. From everyone saying you really want a baby your too old are you financially able to have a child to everything else. I cooked yesterday for friends of ours in Derry that just had a baby. Cooked for 6 hrs DH decides he really doesn't want to go up a 2 hour ride unless it is under his conditions. He has already told them what I am doing after being told not to. So he calls and the guy says that today isn't good blah blah blah. Well f**k it. Dh can't understand why I am upset. We are also watching pour friends 6 yr old and she is with her Mom today so today would have been perfect.

Denae: Thanks! I could really use a glass of red right now.

I saw my Ear Nose and Throat Specialist today. I had a CT Scan done on June 30 because I've been having some funky nosebleeds on the right side. Went in today to get the results of the CT scan.

There's a large "mass" in my right sinus cavity. The doc thinks it's chronic sinusitis, but with me trying to a baby, he can't really give me anything for it. I don't have any facial pressure like I normally do with a sinus infection (and I get probably a half dozen of them a year!). So he wants me to test, wait 10 days and if I'm not pregnant to go ahead and take THREE WEEKS of antibiotics of steroids If I AM pregnant, then we'll have to look at other options. He mentioned more CT scans, and he wants to keep an eye on it for any "spiny growths."

Apparently he also had a recent patient with lymphoma who had a similar CT as mine -- but he had different symptoms.

I can test late this weekend with a HPT, then he wants me to test again 10 days later. Man! I want to break out that box NOW, but I know it won't show anything yet...
