I got my BFP!

After 18 mos., I had just made an appt. with a RE, then had to cancel! AF was late, and after 2 negative hpt, I thought man, my hormones are really getting out of whack. Something is wrong. Then a few days later, my friend had a margarita party, and I decided I'd better take one more test just to be sure before slamming drinks. And there it was! I'm so excited, and nervous, too. We are due March 21.

Any others joining me??? If not yet, I hope soon!

For those of you still trying, I truly wish you all the best. I hope everyone gets their bfps soon. DO NOT give up! I've heard multiple stories of people trying literally for SEVERAL years, thinking they couldn't get pg, then they do. I have seen many on this board go through hell and back ttc, and it's amazing when it does happen. I think some of you still lurk on here whose babies have already been born!

Skuttle, how long have you been trying for now?

2bemarried- what kind of sx are you having? It's so hard to tell bc pg sx are very similar to af sx: bloating, breast tenderness, moodiness, etc. Sounds strange, but the first thing "off" I guess I noticed was a taste aversion. I was eating some grapes, and they tasted so sugary to me! I couldn't finish them bc I felt like I was eating fun dip or something. lol

Off topic, anyone know why my son's pic is so small? You can't see the Mickey on his popcorn! lol

Kelly - Congratulations!

I am somewhere in the 2WW of my first cycle on metformin. I got started on the metformin late this cycle so not sure I was taking it soon enough to be effective.

Hopefully Kelly will start a string of BFP's!!:cheer2:

Kellyfan, that is awesome news!!! I am so very happy for you!!!!!

I do hope this is the beginning of a good string of BPFs for this thread!

Denae, Luis wants to know the sex of the baby. I personally don't care. The longer we don't know, the more people won't buy gender specific things :teeth: I'd rather keep it that way ;)

You have a point there. Gender neutral stuff is pretty ordinary, nothing to get all excited about. But gender-specific stuff has many styles - cartoonish, frilly, colors, etc. you might just hate. And I have seen light pink car seats and strollers - I would like to see them again after the baby is 6 months old and has spit up on them 50 times.

Maybe you and Luis can find out, and not tell anyone else.

I didn't feel any less connected to my DD's because I didn't know their gender or name. Heck, we didn't even pick names until weeks before Emily was born and hours before Hannah.

Great news, Kelly! Congratulations!

I'm currently on cycle 13. I think I'm just starting the 2WW possibly. I haven't been temping or keeping track of things too much this month. I needed a break... I have an appt with my dr for my annual on August 10th.

Allison, I don't want to give false hope, but twice I took a break (first time 11 months in TTC and the 2nd 3 months after the D&C) I came back pregnant :rolleyes1
;)

Denea, you are exactly dead on with what scares me about gender specific items. I am not a frilly kind of gal at all... not into much of the really cutsie baby stuff either. So the longer we have ivory, sage, white, yellow, red (etc) the better IMO :teeth:

KELLY CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really hope you're starting a trend of BFP's!!!!

My cramps are not like normal AF cramps. They switch sides. Yesterday is was all on my left and today it's all on my right. I've had a ton of fluids today like I normally do and my urine is still yellow..I don't get it. Oh yah...I've been a complete you know what this afternoon. This morning I wanted to cry for absolutely no reason. So who knows...it could be AF or it could be pregnancy. I still have a week to wait.

I'm starting the "relax, I will not test at home" chant ;) ;) ;)

Thanks for all the congrats everyone! I still can't believe I'm finally the one receiving it! I sure do hope I started a string of bfps! Isn't that the way it works around here anyway? Just in case, baby dust for all!

2bemarried, I've also been cramping back and forth on each side. Hopefully it's your ligaments stretching for what's to come!

helenabear- how far along are you right now?

With ds we waited to find out the sex, it was worth it in the end. My complaint is that everything is so gender specific now since everyone finds out, it's getting harder to find things. Luckily, I have ds baby boy clothes, and my niece's baby girl clothes. I would like for it to be a surprise, but I think dh wants to find out. Fine by me, I'm pregnant so that's all I wanted! I can just see MIL buying a scratchy frilly dress- and worse, saying it's for baby's first pics! lmao Or who knows what for a boy!

Congratulations, Kelly!! :) 18 months is a long time so I'm glad you finally got that BFP! Have you told your son yet or are you being cautious about that for now?

Okay, let me officially introduce myself as I am officially joining you, I think. I have been following this thread since it started but I wasn't ttc before. Now I am pretty much at that point.

SO, my name is Tasha. I am 26. I have a 2 year old and I have been married to my dh for 7.5 years. I feel like I already know all of you pretty well since I've been following along and occasionally posting for so long.

Well, this was my 1st month off bc pills and AF is almost 3 days late. I tested and it was a BFN and I wasn't surprised because we weren't really actively trying this month and I really have no symptoms of a possible pregnancy either. I had tons with my dd and I KNEW I was pregnant with her before I ever missed a period. I know every pregnancy's different though but I can't help going by what I know from my dd. I admit that I did end up feeling a twinge of disappointment anyway despite the fact that we weren't even trying.

The part that nearly killed me is that I went to school yesterday, right after seeing that BFN and feeling that twinge of disappoinment, and a girl in my class told us she is 4 months pregnant (I haven't seen her much since the first week in May so that is why I didn't know this any sooner and she isn't showing yet either). I am truly happy for her but that was kind of like a kick in the stomach to me too. I was a little down yesterday. I feel weird feeling like that since we haven't even been trying just yet. Still...I've wanted another baby for over a year and have had to keep putting it off due to my schooling.

I figure the reason I haven't gotten AF is because I just stopped the pills a month ago. This is all so foreign to me though. I have never been late before except when I was pregnant. Last time I went off the pills my period stayed right on track so I guess I was hoping it would do the same this time too. I suppose there is still a chance that I could be pregnant but I honestly doubt it. I just wish AF would show up so we can start really trying soon. We were planning to start trying in Sept. anyway but we might just go ahead and start trying next cycle since I was so disappointed to see a BFN.

At any rate, that's what the situation is with me right now. As soon as AF shows and is over we will be ttc as well. I hope there are a lot of BFPs soon and I hope I'm among them in the next few months!

.

Kristy, I had some AF like cramps and then some really painful twitches both times I was pregnant. I still get some twitches and pulls now and then (and some are super painful) so you never know :) Not much longer and we'll all get to know. I am so keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Kellyfan, I am just shy of 21 weeks right now. Kind of feels weird in a way. I guess I hadn't noticed a problem finding gender neutral right now in newborns and young babies. A friend of mine is having a girl, but all her stuff is not for one or the other and we found plenty for her. Just as they get older I noticed it is harder. That's here at least locally, so you might get lucky if you don't want to find out.

Tasha, good luck to you with AF. I hope you find out what is causing her to be late soon. I was like you in it when I went off BCP I had an easy time. My cycle went just back to normal.

Tasha welcome to the group!!!!!!!!!!!

Kelly and Elaine thanks for the info on the cramps.

Welcom Tasha!!! I'm glad you finally decided to offically join the group!!!

Kristy: I had some cramps in the 2ww but they were fairly mild. What hurt the most was my ovary. I'm sending lots and lots of sticky baby dust your way!!! Only a few more days to go!!!!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. :) I spoke too soon earlier. AF just arrived. Who would have thought I could ever be so happy for the old hag to arrive?! Only 2 days later than normal and most likely due to just recently going off the pill. All in all, that's not too bad. It hasn't messed up my cycle too much so we can begin trying soon. I am really nervous about that honestly, but excited too!

Welcome, Tasha! I hope your TTC journey is a short one. :goodvibes Did your first BFP take a while, or were you one of the lucky ones?

Elaine...I can't believe you're already half way there! How exciting! One of my friends didn't find out the gender and I tell ya, it was SO hard buying stuff! There is very little gender neutral stuff out there. I found out with DS, but little boy stuff is pretty standard. Not nearly has much variety as little girl things!

I know many say that the month they stopped trying, they finally got their BFP. I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I have thought about trying to temp one morning to see if O has already occurred...just to make sure. But I keep talking myself out of it. I also thought of taking my temp when it gets closer to AF time (Temp usually drops 1-2 days before AF arrives for me), but I'm trying to talk myself out of that as well. I just try to keep my thoughts on my August 10th appt!

Allison, I admit, for newborns I am not having a hard time finding stuff. I was just shopping for my friend last month and it wasn't an issue with gender neutral. Maybe we're lucky? But there is a ton of yellow, ivory, green and red out there for newborns. Not as much as they get older, but I've done a lot of shopping lately for friends nad never noticed that issue.

Oh and don't touch that thermometer... don't do it... you don't want to, trust me! ;)

Tasha, glad you are finally able to TTC now! It's kind of funny when AF showing is a good thing, isn't it?

Lazy day here for us.

Oh and don't touch that thermometer... don't do it... you don't want to, trust me! ;)

It's funny, when I was TTC I temped like 3 times in the morning, every morning, just to make sure, now I'm told by my RE to temp daily for medical perposes and I just don't feel like it!!! My new dog keeps me up at night and I have such erratic sleep patterns because of it. I don't think the temp thing is going to work as long as my puppy is still a puppy. For ex., the other day my temp was 97.0 and the day after it was 97.6 and I'm nowhere near O. I O every month, so I know it's because I wake up like 10 times during the night, clean up dog poop at 3am and let my new pup out at 5:30am :faint:
