Wow - that is a lot of money! I can't believe how they get away with charging so much for something that should be covered by insurance. Our country is so behind. :sad2:

If you don't mind my asking, how can they monitor endo with sonos? I also had laproscopy (6.5 yrs ago) and was told the only way to tell if it came back was another laproscopy.
the only way to know for sure endo has come back is the lap. but they need to monitor me for cysts. all the drugs i am on cause cysts to form and can flare up endo, so they submit it under endo. someone did tell me they could see endo sometimes via sono, but not sure how.

Rebecca-yeah on positive OPK- go get em!

Elaine- happy birthday!!!!

well started the stim shots last night- no fun. 3 a night is starting to hurt! and it's a chore to do. i have to actually mix on of them. i have my first follie check on thursday. off to acupuncture in a bit- going twice this week since it helps with the stims pain (cramping, severe bloating etc.!). i am already feeling a little bloated and i still have at least 9 more nights of shots, perhaps more.

I'm going in on Friday for my HSG test...I asked my doctor how long afterwards I needed to wait to try to do the BD, and he said that pretty much right away is okay since sometimes the test opens up areas that we blocked off. Ordered Pre-Seed and that should be here this week. Sheesh. So much work for a little fun ;)

Well, AF showed this morning, so no baby in Oct for us. BLECH!

To keep my spirits up, I decided to try and think of all the positives about this... ;)
  • I get to drink wine for Valentine's Day
  • If we get a BFP next cycle, the due date would be around my mom's birthday (she died in 1999, so that would be especially significant)
  • My PMS symptoms should be gone in a day or two
  • DH has finally grocked that this TTC thing isn't as easy as BD without BC
  • We've got more time to get the garage cleaned out before we MUST move DH's stuff out of the 2nd bedroom to make room for a baby (we live in a 1200 sq. ft house with two small bedrooms, and one is Dh's "den" - he'll have to move his desk, files, and recliner to the garage once we have a baby, and the garage is currently PACKED with stuff - barely room to walk in there)
That's as far as I've gotten so far...but I'm trying to keep thinking of positives this time rather than getting down because I'm so stinking impatient and I want a baby!!

Good luck to the rest of you...and thanks for being the people I can vent to when AF shows! :goodvibes

Hey guys. I know I haven't checked in here in a while. I think I just got so frustrated that I couldn't talk about it anymore. I just got AF again yesterday. I'm going to make an appoinment with the dr. to get everything checked out after she leaves. I'm overdue for an appointment anyway.

Hello Ladies!!! :goodvibes Hope everyone had a very nice weekend. We were very busy but I did find my dress for the banquet and we ended up buying DH a new suit.

And it looks like we only got one BD session in during the window of opportunity so with our track record I am going to predict with almost 100% certinty that this cycle was a bust.

IMarriedGrumpy-Sorry to hear the witch showed up. But sounds like Feb. is a great month for you and your DH.

Stepharoonie!-Good luck with you HSG!!

Good luck, Michelle! Hope things are going well. I never tried acupuncture (coudn't stand the thought of MORE needles :) ....hmm, maybe if we do it again. I will have to tell you, after the stim shots for my first IVF cycle...the one with the 21 eggs retrieved from my pm to you....my ovaries felt like softballs:eek: . You could feel them, and the bloating, ugh! Every cycle with the shots I think I gained 7 pounds from bloating alone! If you have any questions, let me know!

Oh, Stephanie....as a by the way, you might be in more pain than the doctor lets on if your tubes are blocked. My gyn thought I would be fine, and then he couldn't "blow out" the blockage during the HSG....he tried, but didn't work. He ended up calling a 'script for Vicodan in!!!! I couldn't walk from the cramping, and I have a HIGH threshold for pain. Or, you could be fine. Just be prepared. Take your advil before you go!

Good luck to all of you others, too! It is really tough to be going through this. It was/is the hardest thing I have had to struggle with, and I've had a lot of struggles.

Wow...I wasn't scared...until now ;) Hehehe.

I am so sorry guys. Since I have given up I have totally forgot about when AF is suppose to show up. I thought it was around the 1st of the Month and I think it is actually around the 8/9th.

Hi all! AF is at my house so no extra souvie for me........

Michelle and Steph~ Good luck! I hope both of you do well.

IMarried~ Glad to see you're thinking positive. You'll get a BFP soon!

DisneyDreamer~ Don't lose hope, there's still a slim possibility.

Ashjohnson~ I know where you are. I have to get away from the whole TTC thing sometimes too. I need to get in to see my doc and get some stuff done. I signed up for ins at work so I had coverage for some things but now it looks like it might not be worth it and I'm stuck with a full year's worth of payments.......

I'm working on less stress and learning a new software program at work... two things that aren't compatable. Oh well, the treadmill is going to get a work out this week so I can try to get rid of the stress and get a good night's sleep.

Michelle...Good luck to you!! I'll be thinking about you during all of this. :goodvibes

Steph: Good luck with your procedure as well.

Imarried: I'm so sorry AF showed her ugly self! You sound like you have a great attitude about it, though! Sounds like with the potential due date if you get a BFP next month things were just meant to be this way this month. :)

Noni: I'm so sorry that AF arrived at your house too!

Rebecca: Good luck! It only takes that one time so you never know! And honestly, I think this thread is due for a BFP soon!! :wizard:

Ash: :hugs: It can be very frustrating. I totally understand your need to just get away from it all for a while. I wish you luck in the future.

Nothing new here. On CD24, so I'm just waiting around. :bored:

hey guys, thanks for the well wishes, it means a lot to have support! I have only done the stim shots for 2 nights and already feel like i have a bowling ball in my gut. i just react well to them i guess, so i am already feeling it. but hopefully that is a good sign that i will have lots of follicles. Kari- thanks for the support and updates- i have my fat pants ready to go for later this week and next week. i expect i'll gain some weight too. i am hoping we can retrieve at least 20 eggs or more like you did!

Steph- good luck on your HSG test. mine was not too bad. i was nervous, and they gave me no pain meds. i just took some tylenol beforehand. it took a while on mine, since i have a tilted uterus and narrow cervix. she had to call for back up on trying to get the catheder in. they had a hard time since it was so narrow apparently. and this was after I had already had 2 IUIs, you would think the cervix would have opened up some? anyways- it was more uncomfortable than painful. my tubes were clear, so i had no cramping afterwards really at all. good luck!

Imarried grumpy- way to stay positive. sorry the old witch showed her face again. :grouphug:

Rebecca- is the banquet this weekend? have a great time!

Ash- sorry about AF- we are all here for you :grouphug:

Noni- same for you- i guess AF is just being a total *itch this week to a lot of us. hugs!

Lisa- good to see you post- hope you are well!

well back to work and taking some tylenol for this pain. i can't imagine how i will get through the week with this getting worse! ouch! :confused3

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm gonna need a CATHEDER??! AAAHHHH!!! That alone scares the heebie jeebies outta me!!!

Does anyone know how long the pain will last? My doc said that all systems will be go to try the BD that weekend, but Lord knows I don't wanna try and be in tons of crampy pain!

She's talking about a catherter that is inserted into the cervix. That's how they get the dye up there. It's not an IV catheter into your vein. I've never had a HSG (should have though....) but I've heard lots of stories from them. It's all over the place, from no sweat to OMG that was horrible. It really depends on the person and the Dr I think.

Thanks for all the well wishes. AF is being, well, a witch. Spotting the first day, heavy for the first half of yesterday and then almost nothing. She's been so unpredictable for the last year. I need to get into my Drs for a complete work up. I'm just scared of what other bad news he'll tell me. Lat time he monitored my cycle, he told me it's highly likely that I don't O anymore. He probably should have had my thyroid tested though as I have a family history of hypothyroid, both my parents were on replacement by 40. I'll have to push for it and a HSG just to see if there's anything else going on.

Night all, I'm off to try to get warm. :cold:

Thanks for all the positive thoughts guys. I know there is a slim chance so I guess I should have said 99.9% ;)

The banquet is actually on the 17th. The company puts us up in a nice hotel with a big fancy dinner, drinks and dancing. We went a couple of years ago and had a great time. Of course we only lived an hour away then instead of 3 now.

I must confess that I'm getting a little nervous about my Dr appt on the 16th. I doubt she will do any tests that day but I guess I will be racking up the miles soon. I'm about a half hour away from the clinic.

Do they normally do the HSG in the office or at a hospital?

Sorry that AF is visiting the majority of your guys right now but I hope she goes quickly so you all can get to the fun part.

Baby Dust :wizard:

Oh by the way...I've lost 3lbs so far :cool1:  it's a start :woohoo:

Well, I think using OPK's has managed to confuse things for me even further this month! :rotfl2: I got my 1st +OPK on Monday evening & then another yesterday evening. I think that maybe my first + was a tad darker, so I'm guessing that combined with the EWCM I had Sun-Mon & the temp spike I saw Tues a.m. that Monday is my O date this month. If I put in a temp as high as today's in FF for tomorrow - it gives me the crosshairs on Mon 2/5, so that's what I'm going with for now. I think our BD schedule is really pretty good if I O'd Mon, but less favorable if I didn't O until yesterday. Time will tell...currently at 2DPO. :)

Skuttle - Doesn't the 2WW really drag? ;) Are you planning on waiting for AF to show, or do you have a test date in mind yet? I'll only be 9DPO, but am considering testing on Valentine's Day. It's a special day for us since hubby proposed on the eve of Valentine's Day seven years ago. I have an extra test lying around since October, so it won't really cost me anything to use it early.

Steph - GL with the HSG - I don't have much knowledge on the procedure, so I can't be of any help that way. We'll be thinking of you! :goodvibes

IMarried - sorry AF showed up, but so happy to hear of your positive thoughts!! :goodvibes It's great to stay positive & sometimes that's easier said than done.

Rebecca - Yeah for finding a new dress for the banquet!! :thumbsup2 I had to go out & get a new dress last week, too - we're headed to the National Guard Ball this Saturday night. Congrats on the 3 lbs lost - that is awesome!!! :thumbsup2 I'm officially down to one pound less than when we left for FL, so that's a good start for me. Still have a ways to go...:rotfl:

Noni - sorry you didn't bring home a souvenir - I hope AF is short & sweet this month. ;)

Michelle - I've been thinking of you - I hope your shots aren't treating you too bad. The bloating must be awful, I know my coworker went thru something similar. It seems like it was just her belly that really balooned out with all the shots she was taking. KUP! :goodvibes

Rebecca- the HSG is usually done in a hospital setting. it requires an x-ray tech to view and read the results as the dye goes through. My RE was not there at all. so it was an outpatient type procedure as far as insurance. as for your appt- good luck! they probably won't do any testing that day other than bloodwork maybe. i had done most of my testing with my ob/gyn. when i told her i had been off BCP for 5 years with no protection (not even pulling out!) and no 'accidents', she knew something was up. so she started by requiring me to track my temp for a few months and did the S/A for DH to rule him out as the problem. she also did bloodwork. but the first appt was just talking. after tracking a few months, it was clear i was haywire, so she prescribed 4 months of clomid. after that wasn't working, even though i was now ovulating (she monitored me via u/s each month for follie checks), i decided to see a specialist- an RE. at that point, i think she realized there was one more test she hadn't done- the HSG, so she ordered that. that way, by the time i saw the RE, i had already had all the basic testing done- blood work (estrogen/progesterone etc.), semen analysis for DH, clomid challenge, and HSG. so the RE could jump right in and we started off doing IUIs with him. My gyn also noticed my thyroid was weird this year, she thought my throat looked swollen and noticed my levels had been slightly off in the past.....so they did a full panel for that just a few months ago. man they took like 6 large vials of blood for that. turned out to be fine.

mouselover- definitely have your thyroid checked though- it can be the root cause for weird cycles and ovulation problems etc. good luck!

Steph- mouselover is right- it is a catheder tube they use to insert the dye through the cervix. they won't actually like have you peeing in a bag or anything!

well night 3 of stim shots done. bled like a stuck pig after one of the three shots though. my stomach is going to get black and blue soon. feeling crappy. crampy, tired, starting to get constipated. all the lovely side effects. i am so ready to just have the ER done! i wish next week was already here. i have my first follie check tomorrow am, i hope there are a lot growing in there!

Michelle-Thanks for all the info. I have my "calendar" all ready to take into her. Luckily our deductible is low so it should not be to bad going to the hospital to have tests done. I'm sorry the shots have been so rough  I can't imagine what my tummy would look like, my mom always said "i bruse like a peach" and it's unfortuatly true. Good luck with your appointment and I hope you have lots of follies!!!!! :thumbsup2 Hang in there!!!! :goodvibes

Emily-Congrats on the weight loss as well!!! I think sometimes the first 5lbs are the hardest to loose, trying to break all the nasty eating habits.

Emily: Good luck in the 2ww! I wasn't going to test this month until I was about a week late. The past few months, AF arrived a day later than the previous month...so I got my hopes up, tested, and got a BFN. It was depressing. This month, however, I'll hit CD32 on Valentine's day. Last month AF arrived on CD33. I'll probably test V-day morning if AF hasn't arrived. My DH is going out of town for a music educators conference in San Antonio from v-day to Sunday, so I'll test before he leaves. Just in case. :) I have test left over, so it won't cost me anything.

Wow, Michelle. I wish you the very best!!

You know, the more that I've thought about it, I wonder if something may be blocked. It used to be whenever I ovulated, I was in pain for a full day. I actually went to the hospital once, thinking it was my appendix since the pain was so severe. Nope, just an egg rolling down the hill ;) Ever since I got off of Ortho Evra in November 05, I have only "felt" the ovulation once or twice. I know that my periods are still regular, but maybe it's taking the egg longer to get where it needs to be because of a blockage?

I am supplied and ready to go for this weekend ;) I told him hubby all hands better be on deck, because I have a mission...he was a little scared ;)
