Any other bus haters out there?

I do admit that I don't have the patience to wait for the bus and I do get slightly annoyed with the time it takes to load on the scooters. I know that isn't fair of me, and I do have a disabled mother so I should know better, but it just seems the safety precautions regarding how they are loaded add sooo much time. If I can stand on the bus why can't Disney let people stay on their scooters?

I love that Disney is ensuring the safety of all guests but I think we all wish there was a more efficient way to do so. If only monorails weren't so expensive to install and operate! Scooters and strollers could just roll on in and everybody is happy!

I'm with you, more monorails would be AWESOME! (and super magical too!)

Or include the nearly two hours my DH and aunt spent trying to get from DHS to OKW one night. They were the line and no buses were being dispatched for just a couple people. Ugh.
A bus or a CM chauffered Chevy Suburban should be dispatched in timely fashion even for one person. But if some in the hordes of guests going to other resorts are experiencing comparable delays I cannot fault Disney from subjecting a small group to such a delay. Meanwhile, anyone know or remember a phone number to call to ask for a bus before waiting that long?

If only that had happened. This was in dec 2010 and we were told a couple times that the bus dispatch system was in flux. While waiting DH found a number but they didn't send anyone. Worse my aunt uses a cane bc of her knees (due to something like a strawberry birthmark around one knee she cannot have replacement surgery) and she was in rotten pain. To this day I don't know why they didn't get a cab or have us come get them with the car. Stubborn + first trip for us and first BIG trip for aunt = decisions that would be different today.

Love the buses!!!

I've been at Pop for 13 days and we've never waited longer then 5 minutes for a bus. We have had a very lucky trip in terms of transportation.

We had a similar experience with POP buses this month. We thought they were wonderful! One afternoon we waited about 20 minutes for a bus from EP to POP, but that wasn't bad considering that it wasn't a peak travel time.
I loved parking my car in the parking lot and not getting back in it until the morning we left!

Sending a Suburban or other car is to save having to send a huge bus for just one or two people, not to accommodate less than unusually large quantities of special needs.

The bus system in a state of flux is not a reason for not serving a resort when people have been waiting for an unusually long period of time.

I long ago learned to take bus wait times with. Grain of salt

Case in point. My friends and I are at OKW. We get there and about 5 minutes later a family arrives. 5 more minutes and the bus comes. The family shoves their way to the front. My friends DH is just behind the father. Father stops to berate bus driver because he waited 'almost half an hour'. After father continues this act my friends DH loudly says 'gee we waited 10 minutes and you got here after us'. LOL

I've never driven in the Orlando area. If I can't get there by Disney Transport (or Disney's Magical Express) then I don't go there.

My absolute favorite part of a Disney vacation is not even having a car key in my possession. Car service between home and airport, and then Disney takes care of me in Florida. I drive roughly 25,000 miles a year and I don't enjoy it. I'm very happy to have someone else do the driving while I'm on vacation. I don't mind the crowds or the occasional waits, to me it's all part of the experience. If I'm ever on a tight schedule in Disney (which is rare, as for me that is the opposite of "vacation"), I take a taxi.

The reason behind how they load wheelchairs and scooters is totally related to safety. You can't sit in them because if there were in :cheer2:an accident they are not as firmly connected like the seats are. Also they are loaded first because they won't be running over your toes if they did it last. And waiting for a spot on a bus with a wheelchair is a lot longer then for able-bodied people. At park close it is not unusual for DW and myself to have to wait 3-4 buses before we get loaded. They want to get as many people out of there as fast as they can. For us at least we don't care. We're on vacation and are there to relax, so no car for us. Buses and taxi's.
