I need some help understanding what a prescription means.
My DH has needed glasses for a few years now and finally broke down and went for an exam. He picked up the glasses on Monday and said that everything looked out of shape with his right eye (the left was fine but much weaker). He said that if he looked at something with his left eye only it was fine but if he looked at it with the right eye only it looked like it was wrapping around the wall or the circle plate on the table looked oval. He tried to wear them on Tue but was getting a horrible headache and sick to his stomach.
The first prescription was Distance SPH. -.50 CYL -1.75 AXIS 90 for his right eye.
He went back last night and the same doctor retested him and changed the prescription in that eye to SPH +.25 CYL -2.25 AXIS 90.
Can someone explain to me what went wrong with the first exam or why the second one is so different from the first (going from a - to a +)? The doctor said something about him having an astigmatism.
