Any opinions on these two Florida Campgrounds?

Just thought I would ask before seriously thinking about booking:

My daughter has begged to stay at this one every time we pass it, is it all the website makes it out to be? It looks like a great family weekend getaway but, looks can be deceiving.

I have heard many praises sung about this one, and it does have a lot of "gung ho" fans around here (much like The Fort!) especially since PCB is a hot zone....any opinions? The shell island tour looks interesting, as does the campfire program, scuba diving, and snorkeling, any thoughts?

My family and i have been to this Jellystone quite a few times. The video is pretty much accurate. The Comfort stations are maintained quite well but not as good as fort wilderness. The park really gets crowded on the 4th of July and the comfort stations were a mess most of the time. The owners are really great people,They have Thanksgiving Dinner for all the campers each year.I look foward to going to Jellystone each year..There is a grocery store about 5 miles away from the park, and you can also get to wildadventures in about 30 min from the park. Hope this helps

Thanks for the input Don! We were just looking for a nice family campground for when we don't want to make the long haul down to The Fort. Have you been to Wild Adventures a lot? We went in 2002? I think and it was a dump BUT they had a tornado go through 2 days before and it was really cold, wet and dreary plus they were planning some upgrades....so it was probably not the best time to go.

If you've been lately, what do you think? Worth another try? Six Flags used to be THE place to go for in between Disney trips back in the day but now.....ugh...gang central.

I can't believe Miracle Strip is gone....used to be one of my favorite things about PCB. :sad2:

st andrews is ok. beach is very nice but some of the sites are hard to get into and sizes vary. have you looked into st joe state park? or st george island?

I have not been to Wild adventures this past year,They are under new ownership...so who knows...I do like jellystone just for the reasons you mentioned...Bring your own fire wood....They think allott of theres...My 11 yodd still talks about the water slide. Now they do seem to nickle and dime you lokk at the prices on the braclets that allow you to do the slide putt putt and the canoes...

I've been to St Andrews on a day trip (to Shell Island) and I've stayed at Henderson Beach State Park.

Would you comment on ST Joes or St George Island? We'd be coming from Louisiana - so I realize it is further from Destin - but how much further and what are they like. Henderson Beach has already filled all their reservation only sites (keeping about 6 walk up sites open)for most of the summer. Unless you want to book one night in this site and move to another site for the next night.

i like st joe park better then st george island park. waters cleaner. st george island has water monitoring going on all the time due to being on the outlet of the appalach river.
st joe state page:http://www.floridastateparks.org/stjoseph/default.cfm
there is also the florida caverens in marianna that was ok, you can tour the caves during the day, sometimes they have night tours, have a freshwater spring swim area there
